Hey friends! So I was planning on doing this technique at least once this season and after watching some of Tim Holtz latest live video earlier I HAD to get inky and create. But first:
🚨FYI - I am aware of the e-mail issue. For those that have signed up in the sidebar on the right here on my blog to receive e-mails whenever I post something new - SOMETHING isn't working. We're looking into it. I have no idea why it stopped working and hope to either get it fixed or figure out an alternative asap! That said I HIGHLY recommend y'all follow me on Instagram, and especially follow/join me on my Facebook page as I update those immediately every time I post something new (which is often!). And just like with everything (including my videos on YouTube) - the more you engage - commenting, liking, sharing etc - the more you'll see my content in your feeds. I am at the mercy of the algorithms and robot overlords with EVERYTHING to do with this job but I hope these tips help and I will continue to trouble shoot behind the scenes!🚨

So waaaayyyy back in 2019 Stacy Hutchison made some amazing Halloween cards with this fabulous spooky sky technique. You can check out her original post HERE <-------click! I was so inspired by it that I ended up doing a few videos over the last few years using it as it's so fun and turns out different every single time.
For this one I went more harvest/rusty/spooky with the colors and made these mini slimline Halloween cards:
I then mixed texture paste with Black Soot Distress Paint and applied it over one of Simon's Layered Bats Stencils (one of my fave Halloween stencil sets), and while the paste was still wet I poured Nightfall Distress Glitter over them.
The fright night sentiment is from my oldie-but-goodie favorite Handlettered Halloween stamp set. I heat embossed it with some copper embossing powder on black card stock and used the coordinating wafer die to cut it out.

Hello friends!! I took a couple of days to just breathe (AKA start cleaning my office and do laundry and run errands etc etc etc LOL) after all my posting for STAMPtember®. I do plan to post quite a bit this month and beyond so just stay tuned!
Today's post is another one for my 2021 Halloween Series. If you've missed any of the previous ones so far you can find them all here:
I stamped the skull from the Rest In Peace set with Distress Black Soot Archival ink, blended some Distress Inks over it and then trimmed it out with scissors. I stamped the background with the same ink using some of the sentiment stamps from the Rest In Peace set.
I stamped a bunch of the moth images from the Moth Study set with the Black Soot Distress Archival ink and blended a rainbow of Distress Inks over them. I then added Tonic's Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss over them - in the video I show just how sparkly they are 😉.
The sentiment is from the Snarky Cat Halloween set and I white heat embossed it onto black card stock.

I made 2 5x7" cards - both of them nearly exactly the same - just the backgrounds give different variations as sprays and whatnot have minds of their own of course.
Speaking of sprays:
You can still snag the Distress Holiday bundle HERE <------click! that has the fabulous Mica Spray Stains as well as glitters and holiday texture pastes. The Halloween sets are completely sold out (Ranger said they were limited and are not making more - however I am REALLY hoping they're seasonal and that they'll bring them back next year) but there are still some of these Holiday sets and I used a couple of the Mica Sprays Stains on my cards!
So I created my backgrounds using the moon mask that comes with the Tim Holtz STAMPtember® 2021 set and several Distress Spray Stains and Holiday Mica Spray Stains. Once the backgrounds were dry I stencilled the moon and then heat embossed the images from the stamp set on the background.
On the inside of the card I stamped the trees and swirls with Oxide inks and a sentiment from the set and that was it!

So this week's Color Throwdown Challenge threw me for a bit of a loop. It's a good one (they always are), but with me being all "Halloween" and late summer and starting to think fall etc etc - the pastel colors stopped me in my tracks LOL!

After I started thinking about it I decided I wanted to incorporate these colors into a Halloween card because why not? So this is what I came up with:
This is a 5x7" card.
OK slight detour first. Tim Holtz Halloween products have been coming out - and last weekend was the Ranger release:

Anywho Tim did a live video showing those products with all sorts of info and inspiration. If you didn't watch it it's HERE <-----click! I was watching it and it's what inspired the background for my card.
So I created this drippy, pastel background using Distress Oxide Sprays and a brayer and spray bottle. I also used the Hocus Pocus stencil with Milled Lavender Distress Oxide ink to add the subtle stars.
Anywho - I stamped the image onto the background, then stamped it a second time onto Neenah card stock and coloured it in with Copics. I fussy cut it and added it to the inky background, along with a sentiment from the Witch's Hat set and some bling.
On the inside of the card I stamped the hat with the Milled Lavender Oxide ink and then stamped another couple of sentiments from the Witch's Hat set and that was it!

These are 3.5 x 8.5" slimline cards.
I made 4 slimline cards using Tim's STAMPtember 2020 set - the crazy cats and sentiments cracked me up so much I needed to use ALL of them.
I stamped the cats from the STAMPtember 2020 set onto Distress Watercolor paper with Ranger's Archival Jet Black ink. I watercolored all of them with Distress Inks (all the colors used are listed and linked in the supplies below) and the card with the cat tangled in the Christmas lights I coloured the lights in with Copic Markers.

Ahhhhhh it FINALLY showed up!! I mentioned many many MANY times that I've been waiting for a huge Tim Holtz Halloween order that I'd placed (and had shipped out) almost 2 months ago!! I don't know what was going on with the USPS but this package circled Chicago for WEEKS before they just decided to send it back to SSS (even tho my address was right below and larger than SSS's address.....🤷🏻♀️🤪🤦🏻♀️🤬). Anywho - SSS shipped it back out to me the same day (I e-mailed their customer service explaining what the tracking was saying so they kept an eye out and re-sent it out the second it showed up - their customer service team is one of the best IMO!).
Anywho - it's less than a week till Halloween and I have this PILE of awesome Halloween products show up:
I included a couple of the Tim Holtz Christmas goodies that I'd ordered much more recently (and that showed up no problem.....lets hope the USPS and now Canada Post and their strikes get everything figured out and working smoothly again!) as they are amazing and y'all need to see them! ;)
