Distress Ink Refill Colored DieCuts | SSS Adeline Butterfly

Hey everyone!! So I'm the hostess of this week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

Here's what I made:

This is a 3.25 x 6.25" Mini Slimline Card.

I pulled out Simon Says Stamp's oldie-but-goodie Adeline Butterfly wafer die and die cut it multiple times from some Canson XL water-colour paper. I then used a bunch of Distress Reinkers to color them in, and once dry added splatter with white gouache.

I used Salvaged Patina Distress Ink and blended it onto the background, and used the CZ Design Thank You wafer die for my sentiment. Also - BLING.

On the inside of the card I stamped a sentiment from the XL Greetings 2 stamp set using Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide ink, and added one of the die cut Adeline Butterflies and that was it!

Sending Hugs Card | Inspired by a Pillow

Hey friends! So I'm late to the party as usual - and by party I mean last week's Color Throwdown Challenge. That said, I had the idea for my card brewing for a couple of nights and HAD to make it. You ever have that happen to you? You get inspired by something and start thinking of making a card inspired by and then you HAVE to try creating it. That was me. This was the inspiration:

This is what I made:

I used Simon Says Stamp's Leafy Branch wafer die and Clustered Leaves Wafer Die (the Clustered Leaves die is an olllllldie-but-goodie. I remember wanting that die SO bad way back in the day as it was such a new concept back then having wafer dies so large) and die cut them from some of Simon's card stocks.

I used the Garden Greetings stamp set and stamped the leaf swag above and below the die cut circle. The hugs sentiment is from the Big Scripty Hugs wafer die set, and the "sending" is also from the Garden Greetings set.

On the inside of the card I stamped the wreath from the Garden Greetings set with Simon's Smoke ink, the sentiment in black and then added some of the little dots from the set stamped with Cheerful ink. I paired the card with a black envelope and that was it!

Slimline Distress Reinker Watercolor Card | Trinity Stamps Slimline Doodle Garden

Hey everyone!

So here is this week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

Here's what I created:

This is a 3.5 x 8.5" slimline card.

I white heat embossed Trinity Stamps Slimline Doodle Garden image onto Distress watercolor paper and then watercolored it using Distress reinkers. The Happy Birthday sentiment was die cut from black card stock and stacked 3 layers together to give it some dimension.

I stamped the Doodle Garden image onto the inside of the card using Weathered Wood Distress Oxide ink (and added some yellow splatter to fix an oops). To create the envelope I used some Doodlebug paper from my stash and Trinity's Slimline Envelope Builder wafer die set and that was it!

Watercolor with Distress Ink Refills | CZ Design Color Wheel Stamp

Hey friends!! Insomnia is still a massive (and debilitating) issue with me here - I'm dealing (or not dealing depending on the day) with it (and I share that as just a small glimpse into things as people ask why I haven't been posting as frequently - this is the main reason why).

Anywho - new card and video! I kept this card more "simple" - basically as clean and simple as I can get - while still adding splatter and some bling lol!

I white heat embossed CZ Designs Color Wheel background stamp onto some Distress watercolor paper and then used Distress Reinkers, a paintbrush and water to color them in. I used Salvaged Patina, Cracked Pistachio and Tumbled Glass - keeping some of the parts "as is" with the colors and others I mixed to get all the variation.

I added splatter (of course) and a sentiment from the CZ Design Thanks wafer die set.

 

On the inside of the card I stamped the Color Wheel using Salvaged Patina Distress ink. I then stamped my favorite sentiment from the XL Greetings 2 stamp set onto white card stock using Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink and then die cut it with the coordinating wafer die.

Watercoloring with Distress Oxide Sprays Mini Slimline Cards

Hey everyone! More Distress Oxide Sprays - this time creating a base for a background and then watercoloring with them again (I am LOVING watercoloring using the sprays).

These are 3.25 x 6.25" mini slimline cards.

I used Simon Says Stamp's Spring Bouquets stamp set and stamped the roses image onto Canson XL watercolor paper using Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and heat embossed it with WOW's Clear Matt Dull embossing powder.

I used Candied Apple and Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide Sprays to watercolor in the florals and leaves and once dry I die cut them with the coordinating wafer die.

On the background I'd used Speckled Egg, Antique Linen and Candied Apple Distress Oxide Sprays. Once dry I used the Spring Boho Circle Stencil and Crackle Paste (still a favorite combo of mine).

On the insides of the cards I stamped the rose image with Speckled Egg Distress Oxide ink and added a sentiment from the Spring Bouquets set with the Nocturne ink and that was it!

Easy Smooth Ink Blending | SSS XL Rose Bouquet Stencil Take 2

Sprays, Crackle Paste & Stencils | Mixed Media? Cards

For today's card I was creating for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

Here's what I made:

I used the XL Rose Bouquet stencil on a card base and blended Simon's Apricot, Rose Apple, Green Leaf and Jellybean inks using the new Rainbow Blender brushes.

I couldn't resist adding splatter using my Starry Colors palette. The die cut sentiment is the new CZ Design Swoopy Thank You wafer die and I used my FAVORITE Gold Satin card stock for the top layer. 

I finished off the sentiment and the inside using the CZ Design Reverse Gratitude Sentiment Strips and that was it!

Glimmering Hot Foil Peony Watercolored with Distress Oxide Sprays

Hey everyone! I have a couple cards and a video to share with y'all for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

Here's what I made:

I used Spellbinders Glimmering Peony Hot Foil plate and foiled it with Polished Brass Glimmer Foil onto Canson XL watercolor paper. I then watercolored the images with Distress Oxide Sprays in Rustic Wilderness, Worn Lipstick and Mustard Seed.

I used the Mini Everyday Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate set for my sentiments and foiled them onto black card stock. For the card fronts I die cut extra layers with the banner die that comes in the set and stacked them together to give it a little dimension.

When I was experimenting with the Glimmering Peony and the watercolor paper I didn't like how I'd positioned it the first couple of times. Since they still foiled perfectly I fussy cut them out and adhered them to the insides of the cards. I finished them off with another sentiment from the Mini Everyday Sentiments set and added some pink envelopes and that was it!

Oxide Spray Backgrounds with Piercing Details

Hello friends! So I've gone RIGHT back to the sprays - I'm always jumping around trying and doing different things when it comes to card making. However my whole little obsession with my Distress Oxide Sprays and Distress Spray Stains as of late is still a thing. I am just really enjoying creating with them.

Before I get to the cards - this was this week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

Here's what I made:

I used Distress Oxide Sprays in Kitsch Flamingo, Squeezed Lemonade, Peacock Feathers and Wilted Violet. I first die cut some Canson XL watercolor paper using Simon Says Stamp's Detail Bohemian Plate wafer die, then sprayed them with the Oxide Sprays.

Once they were dry I did a little water splattering and lifting then splattered Perfect Pearl Powder mixed with water.

I used Simon's Paper Hugs wafer die for the main sentiment and stacked it with layers cut from white card stock and then the top layer was die cut from Simon's Holographic card stock.

On the inside and outside of the cards I used sentiments from Simon's Inside Out Thank You Sentiment Strips and that finished them off!

Hey everyone! So in my haze of late (not leaving the house other than for groceries or necessary appointments - I know a lot of you understand!) I nearly missed that today was St Patrick's Day!

SO - like I said - it's that day. I meant to have cards up waaaaayyyy long ago but man, I am just struggling with a lot lately! Anywho - I made this for the color challenge and had to get this up at least on the right day:

So I assembled my little Leprechaun, and then used CZ Designs Good Luck wafer die for the main sentiment. I also used the Clovers Stencil on the background with Simon's Green Apple ink.

On the inside of the card I used the Clovers stencil with the Green Apple ink again, and then added some sentiments from the Lucky Sentiment Strips pack that I'd colored with a green Copic marker. I paired the card with one of Simon's Gold envelopes and that was it!

Oxide Spray Diecuts + Stencil Background

So the other day I was drooling over this card and video that Debby posted <----click! I LOVE Debby's cards, I've raved about her multiple times lol. I am a big fan and draw a lot of inspiration from her watercoloring and whatnot. So I was definitely channeling her card and decided to play around with my Distress Oxide Sprays and die cuts and stencils and made this card:

I created a splattery background on watercolor paper using Speckled Egg, Tea Dye, Weathered Wood and Bundled Sage Distress Oxide Sprays. It's REALLY hard to see in the pics but I used Simon Says Stamp's Spring Boho Circle Stencil with Crackle Paste over the stencil (the crackle paste I've been using dries more transparent than what I link to and recommend to you all. My order of the Ranger Crackle Paste will get here eventually lol!).

I die cut Simon's Etched Laurel Leaves wafer dies from watercolor paper, and added Bundled Sage and Tea Dye Distress Oxide Sprays. From the same watercolor paper I die cut the Bitty Birdhouse wafer die set and used Weathered Wood and Tea Dye Distress Oxide Spray. 

The Thanks sentiment is from Simon's Happy Thanks Giving wafer die set.

On the inside of the card I used the Spring Boho Circle Stencil and blended some Speckled Egg Distress Oxide ink over it. I then stamped (one of my FAVORITE) a sentiment from the Thankful Heart stamp set using a combo of Simon's Khaki ink and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink. I paired the card with a Metallic Khaki envelope and that was it!

Mini Slimline Spring Cards | AmyR 2021 Easter Card Series #2

Hello friends!

I made 2 cards for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

Here's what I made:

These are 3.25 x 6.25" Mini Slimline Cards.

I pulled out Simon Says Stamp's Hello Easter Stamp and Die Combo set and used just the floral images. I stamped them onto Neenah Solar White 110lb card stock with Simon's Intense Black ink and coloured them in with Copic markers.

On the background I used the Spring Boho Circle Stencil and Crackle Paste. After it was dry I mixed up some Distress Paints to get that green color and splattered it onto the background. 

For the main sentiment I used the Spring Blessings wafer die and stacked 3 layers together with Craft Tacky glue to get the dimension I like.

On the insides of the cards I stamped a sentiment from the Bunny Butt Peek A Boo stamp set with the Intense Black ink then added a couple more of the flowers I'd stamped and coloured. I paired the cards with Lemon Chiffon Mini Slimline envelopes and that was it!

Here's what I made:

I clear heat embossed images from the new Lavender Garden set that I'd stamped onto Distress Watercolor paper with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink. I watercolored them all in with Distress inks (and am LOVING how the watering can turned out! It was just a whim while colouring to combine the colors and it WORKED so well), and then die cut them all out with the coordinating wafer die set.

I was so happy with how the watering can turned out that I combined the Peacock Feathers and Rusty Hinge Distress inks on the background as well. I blended the Rusty Hinge Distress Ink over the new Spring Boho Circle Stencil on a background lightly blended with the Peacock Feathers Distress ink. LOVE. Of course I added a ton of splatter with Perfect Pearls powder as well as Picket Fence Distress Paint.

On the inside of the card I blended the Rusty Hinge ink over the Spring Boho Circle Stencil again and then added a sentiment from the Lavender Garden set. I paired the card with a Metallic Cotton Candy envelope and that was it!

Peony Bundle 3D Embossing Folder with Metallic Accents

Hey everyone! I never got a chance to edit and post this video last week (thanks to a massive migraine - it's gone now and thankfully I don't get them that often but when I do......UGH) - but it's done now!

This was for last week's Color Throwdown Challenge HERE <------click! which was pale pink, sage green and gold. I had this idea for these cards brewing and while I had THE hardest time getting photos to do them justice here they are lol!

These are 5 x 6.25" cards.

I used Simon Says Stamp's Peony Bundle 3D Embossing Folder on heavyweight white card stock. I then LIGHTLY brushed the raised edges with Spun Sugar and Bundled Sage Distress Oxide inks. The gold accents were made with Cosmic Shimmer Gold Treasure Gilding Polish. I brushed that on to the flower centres and "berries".

I die cut the Painted Thanks wafer die and stacked it in 3 layers, then used the Gilding Polish on that as well. You can see in the video how reflective it is - I am going to have to play more with it!

On the card bases I used Black Soot Distress Ink over Simon's Diagonal Stripe stencil.

On the insides of the cards I stamped sentiments from the Say It All Friend stamp set using Delicata Golden Glitz and Versafine Clair Nocturne inks and that was it!

Playing with Distress Oxide Sprays & Inks | AmyR 2021 Valentine's Card Series #17

Happy Valentine's Day again! LOL! I had some time to just *play* today (that never happens anymore it seems especially as I do this for a job) and I have been wanting to use some of these stamps and dies for WEEKS now - so that's what I did. Since I really love this week's Color Throwdown Challenge I went with those colors again too:

I heavily sprayed water onto some pieces of Arches Cold Pressed watercolor paper and then sprayed them with Kitsch Flamingo and Candied Apple Distress Oxide Sprays. After I dried and flattened out the pieces I stencilled on some embossing paste over Honey Bee's Whimsical Hearts stencil and let them dry.

I stamped the lips image from the mini S.W.A.K set from Honey Bee onto white card stock using Kitsch Flamingo and Candied Apple Distress Oxide inks, and clear heat embossed them before die cutting with the coordinating wafer die.

I die cut white, pink and black card stock using the Smooch wafer die set, stacked them together and added white heat embossed sentiments from the Smooch stamp set.

I stamped the lips from the S.W.A.K. set with the Candied Apple and Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide inks onto the inside of the card (the red shows up a little better in real life - my camera and myself are not good at taking pics more than half the time 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️). I white heat embossed more sentiments from the Smooch stamp set and added those and that was it!

SSS Botanical Heart Take 3 | AmyR 2021 Valentine's Card Series #16

Hey everyone! This week's Color Throwdown Challenge went live yesterday:

Here's what I made:

I gold heat embossed the faceted heart image from Simon Says Stamp's Botanical Heart stamp set onto some Distress watercolor paper. I then coloured it in using Candied Apple Distress Ink and a detail water brush. I then did some ink smooshing onto scraps of the same Distress watercolor paper using the Candied Apple Distress Ink, and the new Kitsch Flamingo Distress Ink. Once those were dry I die cut smaller hearts from the pieces using dies from the Botanical Heart coordinating wafer die set.

I die cut the thanks word from Simon's Small Script Trio wafer die set using black card stock and stacked 3 together to give it the dimension I like. I then gold heat embossed one of the sentiments from the Botanical Heart stamp set onto white card stock and ink blended the Kitsch Flamingo Distress Ink over it to make it match.

On the inside of the card I stamped another sentiment from the Botanical Heart stamp set and added a trio of the ink smooshed hearts die cut with the Botanical Heart wafer dies. I added a Metallic Schoolhouse Red envelope to finish it off and that was it!
