More Mixed Media | Amazing Friend Card

Hey friends! Today's card is for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

Here's what I made:

I pulled out Simon's Thank You Text background stamp and stamped it onto some Canson XL watercolor paper using Versafine Clair ink in Shady Lane. I then ink smooshed with Simon's Pawsitively Saturated Ink in Field on top of it. To add even MORE texture I used the CZ Design Deco Squares Stencil with Crackle Paste and also added splatter with White Gouache.

I die cut the same Canson watercolor paper using the Etched Evening Blossom wafer die and watercolored them with a mix of Simon's Pawsitively Saturated Inks and Distress inks. I also die cut a scrap of the watercolor paper for the body of the Etched Dragonfly wafer die, and the wings from some of Simon's Holographic card stock.

On the inside of the card I stamped the Thank You Text background with Simon's Bubblegum ink. I stamped a sentiment from the Friend Greetings set with Dusty Concord Oxide ink and that was it!

These cards were so fun and pretty quick and easy to make!!

I used Simon Says Stamp's Ho Ho Ho stencil that came out yeaarrrrssss ago but I just bought it recently as it escaped my notice till now. I wanted to use it with my Nuvo Glacier Pastes - so that's what I did.

I applied Nuvo Haute Red Glacier Paste to the first card and Sea Sprite Glacier Paste to the second. On both cards I put together a Picture Book Santa that I die cut from various card stocks (linked below) and highlighted with a white gel pen.

I finished off the insides of the cards with a sentiment and snowflakes from the (what else lol?!) Holiday Greetings Mix 1 stamp set and that was it!

Tim Holtz Doodle Greetings 1 & 2 | AmyR 2016 Christmas Card Series #6

Oh I had a heck of a time trying to take pictures of these cards LOL!

My camera was having a fit trying to focus on them with the light reflecting off the sentiments (I show in the video how they end up looking almost foiled - LOVE!) - but this was the best I could do!

I used sentiments from the Tim Holtz Doodle Greetings sets - there's a 1 and 2 and of course I got both sets - they're too gorgeous to pass up. I love how big they are! I wanted to use them as the background on these cards, and as I was making them I was thinking how gorgeous they'd look on a blue card base......or a pale blue.......so many ideas so little time!

I used Distress Grit Paste for the first time on here too - PERFECT for "snow". If you've ever worked with texture paste before you'll notice a huge difference with this grit paste - you can really feel the "grit" when you're working with it.

Like I mention in the video - I've fallen in love with the combination of Delicate Celestial Copper ink and Ranger Bronze Perfect Pearls - it is beyond gorgeous!!! The shine on these sentiments is so pretty :).

Make Yourself at Home | Distress Ink Watercolor | Color Throwdown #392

I have to keep reminding myself what day it is for only being Tuesday night (or reeeaalllyy early Wednesday morning depending what timezone you're in) I keep thinking it's later in the week!

I'm glad I checked my planner b/c having my days screwed up can screw up my schedule and I might have missed getting my card made for this week's Color Throwdown challenge:

Here's the card I came up with for it:

This is a 4Bar Size Card

I used the new Make Yourself at Home stamp set from MFT - I just LOVE the sentiments in this set - it gives you so many card options!

I stamped all the images onto Distress Watercolor card stock with Versafine Onyx Black ink then embossed them with clear embossing powder. I then used 3 different Distress inks to watercolour them in - super easy.

The background was created by sponging the Pumice Stone ink over the MFT Cascading Scallop stencil, just using heavier pressure near the centre of the card and lightening up as I pulled the ink outward.

I finished off the inside by stamping the inside with the loveseat using the Blueprint Sketch Distress ink, and stamped another of the sentiments in the set and that was it!

This post feels naked without a video doesn't it? I DID film one - just running so insanely behind so I'm not positive at the moment I'm typing this up if I'll get it edited and uploaded or not - but I will try!

ETA: My OCD won out, that plus I feel worse than when I did when I typed up this post, so I haven't made anything else to film and share so this will have to do!

SSS Sunny Days Ahead | Sakura Koi Water Colors

Happy Saturday everyone!

Apologies for this post as there's no video. I filmed a video for this card, went to edit the footage and it was all out of focus. Rookie mistake I know and it's so frustrating - especially as I was using the new-to-me Sakura Koi Water Colors for the first time and wanted to show that in the video.

But since I have a rather full plate I can't go back and re-film it all so I thought I'd just suck it up and post the card here and will make doubly sure next time that my camera is IN focus :P!

Other than the baker's twine and the watercolour paper/black ink/watercolors everything else I used on this card is from the SSS May Card kit. I am still loving this kit and had to pull it out again to make this card!

I masked off one of the clouds before stamping the sun, and stamped all the images onto a strip of Strathmore Ready Cut Watercolor paper. I then used the Sakura Koi Water Colors and my Silver Size 6 brush to watercolour them all in. I purposely kept it messy/imperfect - trying not to be so OCD with my colouring LOL! Sometimes I succeed sometimes not so much *wink*.

I stamped one of the cloud images separately as well as the sentiment bubble then trimmed them out with scissors and popped them onto the main panel with a bit of foam tape. I lined said panel with some of the Sunshine card stock included in the kit, then added a bit of Doodlebug twine to the left side and added a bow. I popped that onto the patterned paper (also in the kit) with foam tape and adhered it to my card.

The sequins are from the kit as well and I adhered them with Ranger's Multi Medium Matte adhesive.

I didn't take a pic of the inside of the card b/c I showed it in the video :P but I just used the leftover strip of patterned paper I had from making the card front and adhered it to the inside so that it wasn't completely bare!

May Arts World Autism Awareness Day Blog Hop

Hi folks! The May Arts Design Team is doing a blog hop today in honour of World Autism Awareness Day. You can check out the info here on the Ribbon Resource blog!

Here's the card I made:

I decided to create a sensory card and used a bunch of different ribbons that I arranges in somewhat rainbow order. I purposely mixed up the types of textures of ribbons so that not only does it look more interesting but it feels really cool too.

I stamped a sentiment from the MFT Thanks So Very Much stamp set with SSS Intense Black Ink (using my Mini Misti b/c it enabled me to stamp the sentiments a couple of times each so that they were perfectly stamped).

Y'all can't tell in these pics, but on the card base itself I added a strip of score tape along the right hand side, then pressed black fun flock into it - again going with the sensory idea.

I then adhered the stamped panel with all the ribbon to the card base with foam tape.

I finished off the inside with another sentiment from the same stamp set and that was it!

May Arts & Graphic 45 Blog Hop

Hello everyone! May Arts is collaborating with Graphic 45 this week and doing a series of posts throughout the week - make sure to check out their respective blogs as there will be chances to WIN!

I stepped WAY out of my box today to make my card - I love the look of Graphic 45 but the vintage/shabby chic look is something I struggle with (I see other people's creations that just nail the shabby chic look and I just can't seem to wrap my head around it) but love the look of. So here's my "take" on a vintage-style card:

I stamped one of the flowers from MFT's Grand Peaceful Wildflowers stamp set onto one of the patterned papers from the G45 Children's Hour patterned paper pack with Versamark ink and embossed it with Ranger's Liquid Platinum embossing powder.

I chose that powder as I thought it went well with the finish of the G45 Ornate Metal Key that I'd tied on to the chipboard tag with some May Arts ribbon and string.

I stamped a sentiment (that I cut apart - the word "Always" was in it but it made it too long to fit on the tag so I cut it off) onto the tag with MFT's Steel Grey Hybrid Ink, then added the MA sheer polkadot ribbon and tied on the key with some MA Ivory string.

I die cut the word Happy several times and glued them together before adhering it to the card. The May Arts velvet ric rac I attached to the card with my Tiny Attacher.

I finished off the inside by stamping the flower again with ink that coordinated with the card stock, and stamped the remaining part of the sentiment with the Steel Grey ink, then I added a couple strips of the G45 patterned paper and that was it!

Custom Card | 30th Birthday | MFT Die-namics Shaker Card

Sorry folks I don't have a video for this one! I made it amidst some crazy chaos and as it was a custom order from someone I know I needed to get it done and in the person's hands. I kept off posting it as I'm not sure if the person it was made for reads my blog or not so I'd rather be safe than sorry. Now that I know her birthday has come and gone and she's received the card I'm in the clear! I hope she liked it :).

Anywho - I was given some rather crazy parameters for the card - and ended up picking and choosing what ones I wanted to work with LOL! I settled on 30th Birthday, and the fact that the giver of the card was taking the recipient on a fun vacation for said birthday (including a special concert which I referenced with the music notes). Since I had complete creative freedom with it all I went nuts with glitter and sequins and made a fun shaker card:

I used a LOT of MFT Die-namics to create this card - in fact that's all I used for the outside - no stamps!

I die cut the 30 from glitter card stock, and die cut it a second time from the Sno Cone card stock, then inlaid the glitter ones so that the shaker elements weren't going to catch on them.

I adhered clouds and music notes (the notes were cut from glitter card stock too), and added a bunch of balloons too. I hand drew in the balloon strings just to finish them off a little.

I die cut a frame from yet more glitter card stock, lined it with a piece of acetate, then added 2 layers of foam tape around the perimeter before adhering it over the card front. I added a bunch of sequins in a couple of sizes and these little iridescent confetti hearts to shake around. The hearts catch on the elements inside the card but I was OK with that - I thought it looked cute.

I added more balloons that I "attached" with thread - the threads were taped to the back of each balloon then wrapped around the card front and adhered to the back - that was before I adhered it to the card itself so it's all clean on the inside. 

I added more die cut clouds (I am in LOVE with MFT's Puffy Cloud Die-namics) and a die cut airplane (that I coated with Silver Wink of Stella because reasons).

I finished off the inside of the card by stamping the sentiment with Versafine Black ink, and since that ink takes some time to dry I coated it with some iridescent embossing powder and heat set it so it's all black and shimmery and glittery (of course). I added some more die cut balloons, and "attached" them to the sentiment with more of my hand drawn strings (that's about the extent of my drawing skills at this point in my life LOL!).

One Paper Pack - 2 Different Cards

Ahhhh Monday! Normally not my favourite day of the week, but I've had my coffee and accomplished a fair bit already this morning (note to those that participated in my recent giveaway to check your e-mail - I sent e-mails to all the winners first thing this morning!), and finished editing the pics of these cards and getting the supplies all linked up.

After I got all the monkeys in bed last night I had some time to create, and since I had a lot of the supplies sitting on my desk already I used the same patterned paper pack that's made an appearance on a couple other cards recently:

For being a "Christmas" themed paper pack I find this one has a bunch of patterns that can be used all year long - case in point this card.

Oh hello gold sparkly die cut word. I could add you to every card in the history of ever..... *wink* (I really need to find a way to insert the heart eyes emoticon into my blog posts - but maybe it's a good thing I haven't - otherwise y'all would be inundated with a ton of emoticons all the time LOL!).

I had some troubles with the triangle enamel dots - they just weren't behaving and I swear my ability to eyeball things straight was sorely tested with them last night. I ended up changing the placement on them before photographing the card, and adding some pool coloured enamel dots to balance them out.

I finished off the inside with more die cut hexagons (they're sooooo versatile - and with patterned paper they're just FUN) and a stamped sentiment.

My second card uses the same patterned paper back, but with different patterns - and a totally different look.

I LOVE the polar bear paper - I've been wanting to use it on a card ever since I got the pack - and of course it made me think of a more "winter" theme for this card.

I added some die cut snowflakes (the Let It Snowflake Die-namics is such an old set (still available!) and still one of my favourites after how many years...) and a die cut sentiment - this time in black. It was a struggle not to do it with gold glitter card stock like the first card.

I finished off the inside with a strip of the same polar bear patterned paper and stamped another sentiment from the same Amazing stamp set and that was it!

Mugs and Kisses

Hello everyone! I'd meant to have this card posted yesterday but was having some technical/internet issues - which seemed to have resolved themselves so here it is now!

I hope y'all had a wonderful Christmas/Holiday/whatever you celebrate. Mine and the kids was fabulous. I've really been enjoying spending the extra time with all of us together since the older 2 are on holidays from school. Movies and games and lots of "Frozen" lyrics being repeated over and over and over again LOL! Speaking of which I need to get this post done and then go haul Sven and Olaf around while K sings Let it Go at the top of her voice (those are the only words she knows - it's hilarious).

I had a little time during the 2 little nap time yesterday and made this card - it was inspired by a Starbucks gift card I'd picked up a few weeks ago (is it just me that gets inspired by their gift cards? I'll be in line and there's usually at least one that pops out at me - I love their artwork on them!):

I went with my favourite combo - gold/black/white for the win. I saw a coffee mug somewhere in my little travels in the last few months that had a "gold" base - and the only reason I didn't take it home with me is because it was WAY too small for my liking. My coffee mugs need to hold a TON of coffee LOL. No standard 8oz little mugs for me ;).

Anyway - the mug stuck in my mind so I decided to recreate something similar with card stock and ink.

I die cut the mug from white card stock, then sponged Delicata Golden Glitz ink onto it, and then to make it REALLY gold I brushed some gold Perfect Pearls powder onto it - sooooo pretty IRL!

I finished off the inside with a stamped sentiment and stamped the little starburst image randomly with gold ink and that was it!

Be Merry

Merry Christmas Eve everyone! I made yet another Christmas card last night, using more patterned papers from the same pack I used on my previous card. I love how the two cards turned out totally different:

Of course the second I die cut this snowflake from gold glitter paper I wanted to die cut a million more and stick them to everything LOL!

I adhered the snowflake with a red line sticky dot (from Jody's Sticky Stuff store - the link is with the supplies) and then covered that with a black enamel dot since there's a hole in the middle of the snowflake.

I finished off the inside of the card with more patterned paper and a stamped sentiment from the Joyous Christmas Sentiments stamp set and that was it!

Wishing You JOY

I'm still making Christmas cards! No video for today's one - I've been doing a million things at once and my little Gman is teething (he's got a top one trying to come through and it's being a total bear - the poor kid has been in agony for a couple of days now :( - it will be SO nice for him when it finally comes through - I'm hoping it does tonight!), so any card making is rather sporadic - which is how it is around here regardless LOL!

This was another one I had on my mental "to-do" list, though it was a little more vague in my head and took on a life of it's own once I started creating it:

I used several different Die-namics set from MFT, along with the Trim the Tree stamp set and Die-namics set.

I die cut the letters from gold glittery card stock (insert heart eyes emoji here LOL), then to complete the sentiment I used just the "wishing you" stamp from one of the sentiments in the Trim the Tree set and embossed it with Detail White embossing powder onto Bubblegum card stock.

Quick and Easy Christmas Card Video

I hope you all are enjoying the season so far - as for me and my 4 munchkins we're enjoying the beginning of Christmas holidays with no school and not a whole lot of anything planned. It's been nice just to take it a little easier and spend time baking Christmas goodies (speaking of which it looks like a bomb of icing went off in my kitchen - I'll be cleaning that up after typing up this post LOL), playing video games and watching movies with the kids for the last couple of days. 

I had a brief bit of time when the younger two were napping today to make this card, and since I kept it simple I got the video edited and uploaded that while I helped the kids decorate cookies (hence the icing explosion). Multitasking at it's finest! wink

This was a really easy card to whip up - if y'all saw my snowflake cards and whatnot from a couple of months ago you'll remember my obsession with gold/black/white for Christmas colors and I still love it.

Lastly to finish off the inside of the card I stamped a sentiment from the set and then one of the star images from the set with my Delicata Golden Glitz ink pad - another golden lovely that I think everyone should own LOL!

SSS Gifts of Love Holiday Card Video

Well my momentum from earlier in the week has cooled down somewhat - but that tends to happen with me every week LOL! As the week progresses it gets a little harder to keep going with everything and then I can't wait for the weekend to be able to somewhat re-charge and all that jazz. However that being said I still managed to get another card done - the ideas are still rolling (after so many months in a creative slump having my "stamping mojo" back has been a wonderful feeling - I really thought a few times that I may have lost it permanently...).

I haven't used my Copics in quite some time - I've been having a lot of fun experimenting with watercolours and whatnot, so my poor Copics have sat "neglected" for some time now. After my little mishap yesterday with a red Copic refill (I posted about it on my Instagram and Facebook page) I wasn't really feeling the Copic love but I made the card anyway - and decided to finish it and share regardless b/c I didn't have the time to re-do/re-work the card. It's all real life here folks!
