Peony Bouquet Background Stamp | Easy Slimline Card

Hey everyone!

This week's Color Throwdown Challenge is another good one:

Here's what I came up with:

This is a 3.5 x 8.5" slimline card.

I pulled out Simon Says Stamp's Peony Bouquet Background stamp - I JUST showed this in the Crafty Hugs Release & Review video last week. So it was still sitting on my desk and I thought it would be cool to use for this challenge. I was originally going to make an A2 sized card but then of course I started wondering if I could create a slimline version instead so that's what I did.

I inked up the Peony Bouquet Background with Rusty Hinge Distress Oxide ink and stamped it onto Neenah Desert storm card stock. I used the Oxide ink to splatter the background and also splattered Distress Picket Fence paint as well.

I stamped the Peony Bouquet with the same Rusty Hinge Distress Oxide ink onto the inside of the card as well as on the envelope. The sentiments on the card front and inside are from the Greetings Mix 2 stamp set and were stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink.

SSS August 2020 Card Kit Unboxing + 2 Slimline Cards!

Hey everyone! I have a card kit unboxing plus TWO slimline cards packed into one video today lol!

First off:

Simon Says Stamp's August Card Kit <-------click! Picnic Parade. LOVE! You can check out the kit here and then I'll have links to everything separately at the end of this post.

I made 2 slimline cards with the kit:

These are 3.5 x 8.5" slimline cards.

I used the Hello Sunshine set from the card kit for the sentiments and the clouds, and paired them with the patterned paper and icon stickers and enamel stickers in the kit.

I used Simon's Grassy Edges wafer dies on the green patterned papers to make the grass, then added several of the icon stickers and the little enamel ants to make it look like they were taking off with all the food LOL!

I finished off the inside of the card with more images and sentiments from the Hello Sunshine set along with all the same ephemera I used on the outsides. I paired the cards with the Sunshine Slimline Envelope and Schoolhouse Red Slimline envelope that comes in the kit and that was it!

Easy Oxide Ink Blending Slimline Card | SSS Wildflowers Stamp Set Take 5

Hey everyone! I'm currently working through my backlog of videos - getting them edited and getting the voiceovers done in between construction/kids/etc lol!

This card was for last week's Color Throwdown challenge HERE <------click! There's still a little time left to play along if you'd like! A new challenge starts Wednesday!

Here's what I created:

This is a 3.5 x 8.5" slimline card.

I had mentioned in my last video that I would most likely be back to splatter/slimline/bling - and I was right LOL. It's all my favorite.

I created an easy blended background on Simon's 120lb smooth white card stock using Distress Oxide inks. I splattered the background with the Squeezed Lemonade Oxide mixed with water then splattered on Perfect Pearl powder mixed with water.

I then stamped one of the silhouette images from Simon's Wildflowers stamp set over it using Mowed Lawn and Black Soot Distress Oxide inks. 

The sentiment is from Simon's Hexagon Greetings stamp set and was die cut with the coordinating Hexagon Greetings wafer die.

I stamped the silhouette image from the Wildflowers set onto the inside of the card, and also stamped it across the Lemon Chiffon slimline envelope. I added another sentiment from the Hexagon Greetings set that I'd die cut with the Hexagon Greetings wafer die and that was it!

Thanks Gnomie Card w Matching Envelope

Hey everyone! I'm working on catching up on editing and all the things I put on the back burner while I went through the whole not seeing, getting new glasses etc etc. This card and video being one of those things:

For the first time in a while I made an A2 sized card! I've been SO obsessed with slimline cards the last few months (and I'll still make a bunch of those) but it's nice to jump back and forth between the 2 sizes.

For this card and envelope I used the Simon Says Stamp Chillin' Gnomes stamp and die set. This set is SO cute and I set it aside when it was released as it sold out instantly and then life got in the way. This gnomie eating watermelon is adorable so I designed the card around him.

I stamped the gnome and the mushroom from the Chillin' Gnomies set onto Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80lb card stock with Simon's Intense Black ink then coloured them in with Copic markers. I used one of the coordinating wafer dies to die cut the gnome and left the mushroom on it's panel as part of the background.

I die cut green card stock with the Eucalyptus Leaves wafer die, and used the Script Thanks wafer die for part of the sentiment. I white heat embossed the "gnomie!" from the Chillin' Gnomes set to finish it off.

I finished off the inside of the card by stamping the gnome with Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink and adding another white heat embossed sentiment. I heat embossed another sentiment from the set onto the envelope and then stamped the gnome with Schoolhouse Red ink and that was it!

MFT Baby Shark Slimline Birthday Card

I made it! I told y'all when I posted my MFT June 2020 Releawse & Review video that I HAD to make a card using the new Baby Shark Die-namics - and that's what I did:

This is a 3.5 x 8.5" slimline card.

I had SO much fun making this - and even tho my kiddo's birthday was actually a couple of months ago it was still fun to show it to him and he loved it.

I die cut the Baby Shark Die-namics from yellow, white and black card stock. Then I used Worn Lipstick Distress Ink to blend onto the inside of the mouth piece before adhering all the pieces together. I used a white Gelly Roll pen to add details and highlights as well.

The letters and number were die cut from the new Summertime Polka Dots 6x6 patterned paper (and backed with white card stock) using the Pumped-Up Alphabet Die-namics and Pumped-Up Numbers Die-namics. I used some of my long-hoarded Doodle Twine (I go on and on about that in the video lol - seriously though I would LOVE to be able to get a ton more of it. I have used and own a ton of different colors, brands, styles of bakers twine and Doodlebug's Doodle Twine is my hands down favorite) on all the balloons and adhered them so that the shark was "holding" them.

The new Ocean Motion Stencil was used to create the background with Faded Jeans Distress Oxide ink (which was of course splattered on as well). The Ocean Motion Die-namics cut the top of it perfectly and then was adhered to the card base. I pulled out the Cute Cloud Outlines and used those die cuts for the sky before adhering all the letters and number with Darice Foam Strips.

I added some Studio Katia Iridescent Bubbles and Clear Round Drops to the water just to finish it all off.

On the inside I used the Baby Shark Die-namics again - this time to create Mommy Shark 😉 and added a couple more sentiments that I'd white heat embossed from the Sharky Sentiments set and that was it!

Hokay - now on to more (what else lol) slimline cards:

These are 3.5 x 8.5" slimline cards.

After I did my Release & Review video of Honey Bee Stamps 5th Anniversary release I had a lot of people asking if I'd use the Balloon Card Borders die set in a video. So I did, and I made them into slimline cards b/c I'm just having too much fun with them lately.

I also used a bit of Honey Bee's new Birthday Bash 6x6 patterned paper - I literally ordered a second pack to have on hand and I STILL want to hoard it every time I flip through it lol!

The Party Honey Cuts dies were used with the same card stocks I used for the balloons and this time I used all three layers for the sentiment. I then white heat embossed the "Let's" from the coordinating Party stamp set to complete the sentiment.

On the inside of the cards I used another patterned paper from the Birthday Bash pack, and then white heat embossed a sentiment I made using the Birthday stamp set and that was it!

Bee Yourself Slimline Card | Karin Brushmarker Pros

Hello everyone!! I am zipping through all the footage and getting the voiceovers done finally! And of course MORE slimline cards - the obsession (and fun) is real:

This was my first portrait slimline card - all the other ones I've made so far have been landscape orientation. The only big different being they're a little harder (for me anyway) to photograph. Still super fun to make though.

I pulled out an older set again for this one: Simon Says Stamp's Bee Yourself stamp set. I had bought the coordinating wafer dies for it MONTHS ago and it's just been sitting and waiting to be used again.

I stamped the bees and hearts from the Bee Yourself set onto Bristol Smooth card stock with Nocturne ink and heat embossed them with Simon's Clear embossing powder. I used my Karin Brushmarker Pro's and a water brush to color them in and then die cut them with the coordinating wafer dies.

For the background I stamped the "honeycomb" images from the set onto more Bristol Smooth card stock and heat embossed them with Wendy Vecchi's Sunflower embossing powder. I used the Canary yellow Karin marker and a big paintbrush to color over them, added some splatter, and added white splatter (it's subtle but it's there).

I recently got the Mama Elephant Slim Card Basics wafer die set so I used the stitched wafer die on the background, and then used the scalloped wafer die on some of Simon's Sea Glass card stock.

On the inside of the card I stamped the honeycomb with Wild Honey Distress Oxide ink, and the hearts with Candied Apple Distress Oxide ink. I added the last bee images I'd coloured plus another white heat embossed sentiment from the Bee Yourself set. I made a coordinating envelope from some Doodlebug patterned paper in my stash and the Trinity Stamps Slimline Envelope Builder wafer die set and that was it!

Slimline Card | Picture Book Panda Thank You Card

Hey everyone!! After my last post about the new SSS release (HERE), I was able to get the voiceover for this video done early this morning. There's been a lot of construction going on around here plus wind (plus 5 kids lol) so it's been a struggle finding times and ways to do voiceovers lol!

Anywho - this card is for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

Here's what I created:

This is a 3.5 x 8.5" slimline card.

I pulled out the CZ Design All the Thanks stamp set and coordinating die set (it's also a combo here). I white heat embossed a bunch of the sentiments onto Audrey Blue card stock and then die cut them with the coordinating wafer dies. Some of the smaller sentiments in the set were white heat embossed onto black card stock then die cut with the Nested Banners wafer die set.

I pulled out Simon Says Stamp's Picture Book Panda wafer die, and die cut him from Black Velvet and White Latte Flock transfer sheets. Remember those containers of flocking powder we used to use waaaaayyy back in the day? The ones that I still have in a drawer in my studio "just in case" lol? These flock transfer sheets are SO much easier to use. I've done a couple of videos using them in the past and when it comes to this panda it's just MEANT TO BE FLOCKED lol! He's all fuzzy! So I used those and then for the eyes I used a white gel pen and on the nose I used a black glaze pen for that little bit of shine.

On the outside and inside of the card I used MFT's Black & White Stripes patterned paper - I show in the video how I pieced it together to make it work on a larger card like this. I finished off the inside of the card with a couple more sentiments from the All the Thanks set. I made a coordinating envelope with the Trinity Stamps Slimline Envelope Builder wafer die set and some Doodlebug patterned paper from my stash and that was it!

Galaxy Background with PinkFresh Liquid Watercolors & HoneyBee Stamps and Dies

Hello everyone! It's MAY?!? April felt like such a crazy long month and then it's just over!

Anywho - the other day I posted a card using some of the latest Honey Bee Stamps release. Side note - the last part of the release I was waiting on should be here this week! Once it is I'll film a Release & Review video for y'all to show you all the new products!

Another project that I wanted to make was a galaxy background - one because I haven't done one of those in a while and two because one of the mini sets in the new release inspired me to:

This is a 5x7" card.

I pulled out my PinkFresh Liquid watercolors to make this background. You can you anything really - dye ink refills, watercolors, Distress Inks or Oxides. Play with what you've got! I chose the PF Liquid Watercolors this time as I haven't used them in a while, plus when you keep them concentrated and don't add much water they're REALLY intense and vibrant. 

I used Strathmore watercolor paper and it comes in 5x7 sheets. I originally intended to cut it down to make an A2 card but in the end decided to keep the larger size and make a 5x7 card. After the watercolor background was dry I splattered on a bunch of white ink to make the "stars". THIS is what brings a galaxy background together - at least for me. Mine look like ugly hot messes till the splatter is added lol!

I used the new A7 Thin Frames Honey Cuts dies - the die is all one piece (you can see it in the video) and it cuts a BUNCH of frames all at once. I die cut it from Tonic Silver Screen Glitter card, chose a frame for this card and the rest I put in the package with the die to use on future projects. 

I used the same glitter card with the new Friend Honey Cuts die along with white card stock and vellum. I finished off the sentiments using the coordinating Friend stamp set that I white heat embossed onto black card stock.

Of course I couldn't resist adding some bling - I added some Studio Katia Iridescent Stars Embellishments and Silver Foil Sequins.

On the inside of the card I stamped the sentiments that inspired the card. I used both stamps from the mini Good Friends set and stamped them onto the inside with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink. I didn't want just the sentiment on the inside so I used a bunch of the little tiny star images from the new Far Out Friends stamp set and inked them up with Distress Oxide inks and that was it!

EASY Foiled Birthday Cards with MFT Impressive Die-namics

FOIL. That's right. FOIL. I hoard foil like a magpie (and bling but y'all already knew that if you've followed me for a minute), and I need to make a point of USING it more. So that's what I did for these cards:

I have a bunch of newer My Favorite Things products that have been piling up for a while now. Some of it they sent to me and some I purchased (because I always tend to want the things that don't get sent so I buy them lol). I got their new Happy Birthday Impressive Die-namics - these are not regular wafer dies. The Impressive or Foiled (same thing) Die-namics are meant to be used in hot foil machines. 

I have the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil machine that I use in my Spellbinders Platinum 6 die cutting machine. There are other hot foil machines on the market that will work with the MFT Impressive/Foiled Die-namics I just can't comment on them as I don't own them. 

Anywho - I used the Happy Birthday Impressive Die-namics with the Glimmer Hot Foil machine and 3 different colors of Glimmer Foil (I linked to all of them below) just on white card stock. I then used a variety of MFT Die-namics sets and their new Birthday Brights 6x6 patterned paper pack.

I used the Hip Hip Hooray Die-namics on the card I used the Rainbow foil on. I added a small die cut star using an oldie-but-goodie SSS Mini Stars wafer dies just to fill in that spot.

On the top card I used the Perfect-Fit Balloon Die-namics, and added a SSS Inside Out Birthday sentiment strip that I coloured pink with a Copic marker.

Finally on the pink foiled card I used the Mini Cupcake Maker Die-namics.

I finished the insides of all the cards with bits of the Birthday Brights patterned paper and various sentiments and that was it!

Slimline Card Using Honey Bee Stamps Up, Up and Away Stamp Set

Hey everyone! I'm still chipping away on projects and filming - while I've worked from home for years now it's a totally different ballgame when all the kids + Chris are here with me 24/7!

Anywho - I'd shared this card and video earlier this week on the Honey Bee Stamps blog and YouTube channel so here it is for those that may have missed it:

I decided to create a Slimline Card - this one measures 3.5" by 8.5" - and used Honey Bee's Up, Up and Away stamp set and coordinating Honey Cuts dies as my main focus.

I created an ink-blended background using Distress Oxide Inks (all the specific colors are listed and linked below) over Distress Watercolor paper. I white heat embossed the hot air balloons and used more Distress Oxide inks and a water brush to paint them in.

I white heat embossed the cloud images from the Up, Up and Away set onto vellum and die cut them with the coordinating wafer dies. I also used the Large Clouds wafer dies to complete my scene. Of course I couldn't not add some Studio Katia Majestic Sequins for a little bling lol!

On the inside and outside of the card I used the Blown Away stamp set and coordinating wafer dies for all of my sentiments. I added one more hot air balloon to the inside and that was it!

Easy Diecut Good Luck Card!

Hey everyone. It's been a crazy couple of weeks hasn't it? EVERYTHING is insane. On my end it's been dealing with a LOT going on in our house with sickness etc (among all the other more provincial/national/global issues). I am right now dealing with a horrible cold (which I know could be so much worse) so my voice sounds pretty awful!

That said I had a card and video made that basically NEEDED to go up as it was St. Patrick's Day inspired which is today! That plus I think we all need some cheerful good luck wishes right now don't we?

Here's the card:

I used Simon Says Stamp's Rainbow Heart wafer die and die cut several scraps of different shades of green card stock from my stash. I also die cut it from some of Simon's Gold Glitter card stock.

I pulled out the CZ Design Good Luck wafer die (it's like it was MEANT to go with the Rainbow Heart wafer die amiright?) as well as the Great Things stamp set to finish off the sentiment.

I (of course) couldn't resist going through my stash of Studio Katia crystals and adding some for extra bling 😉🤩.

I used more sentiments from the Great Things stamp set as well as the little shamrock images to finish off the inside of the card and that was it!

Honey Bee Stamps Mountain Z-Fold Hot Air Balloon Cards

Hello everyone! I hope y'all had a great weekend. We got a bunch of snow over ours - not surprising for March in Saskatchewan but it just makes me want spring even more!

So I had a LOT of requests to show how to make the Honey Bee Stamps Mountain Z-Fold card after I showed it in the Release & Review video:

So I did:

The Mountain Z-Fold Card is SUPER easy to assemble - just die cut, fold the tabs and adhere.

I used the Mountain Z-Fold Stencils and Masks set to do some inking on the cloud and mountain layers. On the mountain layer I used the mask and clear embossing ink so that I could add white embossing powder and melt it. It looks like snow! On the cloud layer I used the cloud masks and added a bit of Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink.

To add some color to the cards I pulled out the Up, Up and Away stamp set and white heat embossed the hot air balloons. I watercolored them in rainbow colors and die cut them with the coordinating wafer dies.

I added the smaller hot air balloon to the mountain layer, and the larger balloon to the inside of the card so that it's peeking out through the clouds. The sentiments are from the Blown Away set. I white heat embossed them onto black card stock then die cut them using the coordinating wafer die set and that was it!

Ink Blended Background | SSS Beautiful Flowers 2 Take 5

So today's card is for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

Here's what I made:

I created an ink-blended background using Simon Says Stamp's Watermelon and Blue Jay inks and their colourful blending brushes. After I blended the background I stamped the big floral stamp from the Beautiful Flowers 2 stamp set onto it with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink.

I added some white splatter using one of the shimmery watercolors from the Prima Metallic watercolor set. Once it was dry I die cut the panel with one of Simon's A2 Thin Frames wafer dies, and inlaid another frame cut from Neenah Desert Storm card stock.

I finished off the card front with the Bold Thanks wafer die that I cut and stacked from Desert Storm and white card stock.

To finish off the inside of the card I stamped the big floral from Beautiful Flowers 2 with Simon's Khaki ink, and then stamped a sentiment from the Handwritten Love stamp set with the Nocturne ink. I adhered the frame left over from die cutting the front panel and that was it!

2 Easy Masculine Cards with SSS March 2020 Card Kit

So I'm back with 2 cards using the kit. I had several ideas and wanted to use allllll the stamps in the set - but to start off with I kept things more simple (SO hard for me to do) and made these 2 cards with the kit:

I really loved the long stem and leaves stamp in the Stronger Together stamp set - so I stamped it onto Ranger watercolor paper with Versafine Clair Morning Mist ink. I then used the watercolor pencils that came in the kit to watercolor the leaves and stems.

**side note: I talk about not adding sparkle to these cards in the video. Funny thing is is that I just noticed as I'm typing up the post and have my overhead lights on - there IS some sparkle to these LOL! After making THIS card the other day there was obviously still some sparkle in my water brush. So when I painted these leaves the sparkle transferred and I didn't notice at all. It's SUPER subtle but I'm kind of glad it's there. 😉

I added some Studio Katia Seafoam pearls to the stems (for the "non-bling bling" lols), and die cut the Bold Hello that comes in the March kit from Slate card stock.

I finished off the insides of the cards by stamping the stem image with Simon's Mint ink, and then stamped another sentiment from the Stronger Together stamp set with the Morning Mist ink. I pulled out a couple of Slate envelopes from my stash and stamped the stem onto them with the Morning Mist ink and that was it!
