Easily Dry Emboss a Hot Foil Plate To Create Texture

I couldn't resist playing around with the new Intricate Floral Background Hot Foil Plate. Instead of foiling with it though I dry embossed it onto white cardstock:

After dry embossing the Intricate Floral Background onto pieces of white card stock I splattered them with my Zig Gold Mica ink.

I used the new Happily Ever After wafer die and stacked it with black card stock and topped it with Simon's Matte Gold card stock. I also added some gold glitter die cut hearts using an oldie-but-goodie favorite Mini Hearts Party wafer die.

On the insides of the cards I stamped sentiments from the Happily a Lifetime stamp set and that was it!

Distress Oxide Background Slimline Card | SSS Beautiful Butterflies

Hello everyone!! Stay tuned as I have several posts and videos coming back-to-back! I had some tech/internet/whatever issues the past few days and it's backed up everything.

Anywho - this card was for last week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

You can see what the rest of the team created with these colors HERE <------click! plus there's a ton of inspiration in that post from everyone who played along.

Here's what I made:

This is a 3.5 x 8.5" slimline card.

I created a smooshed-ink background using Distress Oxide inks on Ranger watercolor paper. I haven't done backgrounds like that in a while and EVERY time I revisit it I'm reminded of how fun it is to make!

For the butterflies and sentiments I used the Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Butterflies set. It was a part of their June card kit that sold out before it arrived here - but like I said in the video: the kit and then the coordinating wafer dies that came out in the Send Happiness release arrived within a couple of days of each other. So it was perfect timing in the end lol!

I gold heat embossed one of the butterflies from the set onto vellum then used the coordinating wafer die to cut it out.

On the inside of the card I gold heat embossed another sentiment. I then stamped one of the smaller butterflies from the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set all over the inside of the card and on the Audrey Blue Slimline envelope using the same Distress Oxides I used on the card front and that was it!

Rainbow Fluttering Hearts Cards | Honey Bee Stamps and Inkon3 Atelier Inks

Hey everyone! Earlier this week I had these cards on the Honey Bee Stamps blog and finally got the time to share them with y'all here. 

I created a couple of backgrounds using several Inkon3 Atelier Inks. I know the inks are sold out right now (I have zero control over inventory - I just freelance and create with what I like) but I am sure Inkon3 is working overtime to replenish and restock retailers as they're super popular. I REALLY like these inks so far (I used them HERE for the first time to watercolor) and I'll share more videos using them but I'll wait till they're back in stock so I'm not always teasing everyone with them.

After blending the inks onto white card stock I sprayed the backgrounds with Sheer Shimmer Sparkle spray - you can see it better in the video how SPARKLY they are. I then die cut the backgrounds with Honey Bee Stamps Fluttering Hearts Coverplate wafer die and Fluttering Hearts Pierced Coverplate wafer die. To get multiple backgrounds from those 2 I also die cut white card stock with the same 2 backgrounds and ended up with 3 cards.

For this card I used Honey Bee's XOXO stamp set and coordinating wafer die set.

On card number two I used Honey Bee's Kisses stamp set and coordinating Kisses wafer die set.

Card number three uses Honey Bee's Heart stamp set and coordinating Heart wafer dies.

On all three cards I added Studio Katia April Crystals to add some extra bling, and finished off the insides with more die cut hearts:

Easy Metallic Watercoloring | AmyR Valentine 2020 Card Series #3

Hello everyone!

First off - heads up - check out Simon's Steals and Deals section HERE <------click! and keep checking!! They posted they're doing year-end inventory etc and keep loading up that section as they clearance out products to make room for 2020! There have been some INSANE deals in there!!

OK on to today's cards:

I pulled out the new Heart to Heart Background stamp and heat embossed it twice onto black card stock - once with gold embossing powder and once with white embossing powder.

I did some quick and easy metallic watercoloring on both cards. For the one I did the gold heat embossing (tho now that I'm looking at it I think it would look GREAT if it was clear heat embossed - so then you'd see the heart outlines really well? Ugh I NEED more hours in a day to make all these ideas in my head!) I used my Gansai Tambi Starry Colors.

For this one I used the Gansai Tambi Gem Colors - and yeah I really really really love how they look on black card stock!

For both cards I used the new Love and Valentines Word Mix 2 stamp set with the coordinating wafer die set. 

I finished off the insides with a strip of the watercolored panels left over from the card fronts, and more sentiments from the Love and Valentines Word Mix 2 set and that was it!

Serious Chemistry Card | MFT Cute Chemists

Hello everyone!

So I have another love-themed card to share with y'all - again not specifically Valentine's but it could be if you wanted it to:

I LOVE the Birdie Brown line from My Favorite Things. LOVE. IT. All the images are adorable and I have been collecting all of them since Torico started designing them lol!

So this Cute Chemists set is adorable - and I love that there's a boy and a girl image and you could use either/or and make them for so many different occasions!! I used both and went with a love/Valentine/anniversary theme b/c I thought it would be really cute!

I stamped the images from the set onto Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80lb card stock with MFT's Extreme Black ink and coloured them in with Copic markers. I added highlights with a white gel pen and filled in their glasses with Nuvo Crystal Glaze so they're slightly raised and shiny.

The background was inked with Distress inks and splattered with water and Distress Ink refills. I also added some Studio Katia Iridescent Hearts and Clear Droplets to finish off my scene.

I finished off the inside of the card with more images and a sentiment from the Cute Chemists set and that was it!

Die Cut Hearts with Ranger Alcohol Inks

Hello everyone!

I pulled out some of my Ranger Alcohol Inks over the weekend and had some fun creating a couple of marbled backgrounds on Yupo paper that I'd die cut with one of Simon Says Stamp's Nested Hearts wafer dies:

I struggled with my first attempt - and ended up completely wiping off the yupo heart using rubbing alcohol ink. I made a second attempt and initially didn't care for that one either - but set it aside and worked on the second heart. When I came back to the first one I was more than OK with it - usually when you come back to whatever you'd been working on with "fresh" eyes you'll see it differently!

I pulled out an older (oldie-but-goodie!) Simon Says Stamp set - Kristina's Love for the die cut word and sentiments. I die cut the 'love' from gold glitter card stock and white heat embossed the sentiments onto black card stock.

I finished off the inside of the cards with more sentiments from the Kristina's Love set and that was it!

I used the new Always & Forever stamp set and coordinating dies to create my cards - one as an anniversary card and one as more of a Valentine's Day card.

I created the watercolor backgrounds on Bee Watercolor paper using my Prima Pastel Dreams watercolor set. I also used the watercolors to color in the lightbulbs:

I added Yellow Wink of Stella to the bulbs and Crystal Glaze to the heart enters. 

For the second card I used the new Flourish Background on Simon's Surf Blue card stock and then featured my favorite sentiment from the Always and Forever set on the watercolor panel.

I finished the insides of the cards with more sentiments from the Always and Forever stamp set and that was it!

Flat Shaker Cards | AmyR Valentine 2019 Series #7

Hello everyone! I'm super excited to be hopping along with a bunch of other super fabulous, talented designers as part of several days of inspiration for Pretty Pink Posh's January release AND their 5th Birthday Celebration!

Not only did I made 3 cards, but they're all shaker cards AND they're all FLAT shaker cards - fun right?

Oh and did I mention they're all die cut through the card front so it's also a window to the inside? It was an extra bit of figuring out to pull that off with these but once I made one card the other 2 came together pretty easily and having them as shakers AND windows just adds some fun to otherwise clean and simple cards!

Customized Lawn Fawn Reveal Wheel Card | Pizza My Heart

I finally did it!! I stopped hoarding my Lawn Fawn Reveal Wheel dies and actually USED them (y'all can pick your jaws up off the floor...):

And not only did I use the Reveal Wheel - I customized it while I was at it.

Chris's birthday was earlier this week and I decided to make him a Pizza-themed card - then had the idea to use the Reveal Wheel so that one of the slices could show different faces and toppings.

I stamped the images from Lawn Fawn's Pizza My Heart set onto Neenah Classic Crest 80lb Solar White card stock with GinaK Amalgam ink and coloured them in with Copics.

On the actual reveal wheel I inked on a couple of Lawn Fawn Dye inks (Butter and Sunflower) rather than do all the colouring with Copics. I used the Picket Fence blending brush for the inks then stamped the toppings like I did with all the other pieces and pizza's.

On the inside of the card I stamped another sentiment from the Pizza My Heart stamp set and then added the heart shaped pizza and stamped the little swirly steam image from the set and that was it!

Honey Bee Stamps Spring Blossoms Wedding Card | Distress Ink Watercolor

Hello everyone! I made a couple of cards using Honey Bee Stamps Spring Blossoms stamp set along with their Mr and Mrs stamps and dies:

I stamped the flowers and leaves from the Honey Bee Spring Blossoms set onto Distress Watercolor cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. I then used Distress Inks and my water brush to color them all in before die cutting them with their coordinating dies.

I stamped the images onto my card bases with a light grey ink, then adhered everything to it with foam tape. The sentiments are from Honey Bee's Mr and Mrs stamp set and coordinating dies set.

On the inside of the cards I stamped the flowers and leaves using the same Distress Inks that I'd used to watercolor the ones on the outside. I then stamped sentiments from the Mr and Mrs set with the Versafine Onyx black ink and that was it!

Anniversary Card with Lawn Fawn Screen Time Set | Copic Markers

Oh Monday - it's been frustrating already BUT I have a card and video using some of the new Lawn Fawn that I showed in my last post!!

This is a 4.25" square card.

I used Lawn Fawns new Screen Time stamp set to make this card, and drew the little couch for them to sit on as I didn't have anything that would work. 

I used a whole bunch of Copic markers to color in all the images - I have the colors listed in the video as I use them but also included a pic here for reference. 

I used some mini scalloped stitched dies from my stash to cut some of the Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow patterned papers (that I've been hoarding along with everything else) - using an oval die for the purple paper (it's the "rug") and square dies for the white card stock and rainbow paper.

I finished off the inside of the card with a sentiment from the Screen Time stamp set, and then used Lawn Fawn's Happy Happy Happy stamp set and the coordinating dies to create the "Happy" and stamp the anniversary and that was it!

Lawn Fawn Light Up Card with Chibitronics | AmyR Valentine 2018 Series #17

Heyyyyy everyone! After a rather rough start to the week (nothing like -43C to start the day and a sick kid throwing up to wake up to) I feel like things are settling down now that Monday is almost over LOL! The weather is FINALLY supposed to warm up and my kid seems to have got everything out of her system so we can hopefully end the day on a much more positive note.

I have one more card for my Valentine series this year - tho like I say in the video this could be an Anniversary/Special Occasion/Birthday/Whenever card really - just switch up the sentiments on the inside!

I pulled out Lawn Fawns Turn Me On mini stamp set that I got last year? I think it was released last year (I hoard so much Lawn Fawn it's getting hard to remember who/what/when LOL) - anyway I had the idea to make the light bulb actually light up. Then decided to make it into a masculine Valentine's Day card because I think it's hilarious.

I heat embossed the light bulb on vellum and coloured the back of it with Copic Markers (Y19, C6) and used the coordinating wafer die to cut the "window" in the plaid patterned paper. The ligh switch was stamped onto Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80lb card stock with MFT Extreme Black ink and shaded with Copics (C4, C2, C0 and 0). 

The best part about this card? When you press on the light switch the bulb actually lights up. I used my Chibitronics and created the circuit and there's a light and battery sandwiched under the blue patterned paper. It's all way easier to see and explain in the video!

I finished off the inside of the card with sentiments from Lawn Fawn's Happy Happy Happy stamp set and coordinating dies and that was it!

SSS Center Cut Heart 2 Ways | Distress Inks | AmyR Valentine 2018 Series #6

It's a foggy grey/white day today - so I definitely needed some BRIGHT color to cheer things up:

I made these 2 cards using three Distress inks (yup only three!) and Simon Says Stamp's Center Cut Heart background and Stained Glass Love stamp sets.

I used Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks to create my backgrounds. I pressed them onto flexible plastic (I used cut up pieces of Ziploc portion bags, sandwich bags or any thin type of plastic like that would work - and if you wipe them off you can re-use the same piece dozens and dozens of times - one bag will last me a REALLY long time).

I love the fact that even though I only used three inks I still ended up with two completely different backgrounds. I used SSS's Center Cut Heart background stamp and heat embossed it with white embossing powder on both backgrounds. For the sentiments I used the SSS Stained Glass Love stamp set and coordinating die set.

I finished off the insides of the cards with more stamped sentiments from the Stained Glass Love stamp set and that was it!

Penny Black Flower Cascade Take 2 | FineTec Pearlescent Watercolors

Hey everyone! I'm late as usual for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

Here's what I came up with:

I had a really hard time getting decent photos of this card LOL. Between the shimmer/reflection of the watercolour and the shimmer of the envelope my camera was just NOT cooperating (and I'm clueless with pics - I pretty much point and shoot....).

I used the Penny Black Flower Cascade stamp and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder onto navy card stock. I then used my FineTec Pearlescent and Iridescent watercolour sets to color them all in - again photos don't do justice at allllll. 

The sentiments are from the Mama Elephant Congrats All Around stamp set and Congrats die - the "on your engagement" stamp was PERFECT for this card IMO!

Really hard to see in the photo (it was one of those evenings) but I stamped the Flower Cascade image onto the inside of the card with Versamark ink for a tone-on-tone look (and so the inside wasn't totally blank - y'all know I have to finish the insides of all the cards!). The gold envelope from SSS I heat embossed the image with some blue embossing powder and that finished it all off!

SSS Floral Bliss w FineTec Iridescent Watercolors

I wasted NO time diving into the FineTec watercolours that I just showed y'all in my latest haul video! I decided to play with the Iridescent set and here was the end result:

I used supplies from the June Simon Says Stamp card kit along with SSS Ultra Fine Detail Gold embossing powder and the FineTec Iridescent Watercolors.

I heat embossed the large floral image from the SSS Floral Bliss stamp set onto black card stock with the gold embossing powder then painted in the image with the Iridescent watercolours. I also used the watercolours to splatter the black card stock and to paint a strip of SSS Cotton Candy card stock before adhering it to the card.

I stamped the flap of the SSS Metallic Ivory envelop with the floral image and heat embossed it with the same gold embossing powder. THAT envelope with this Iridescent watercolour card? LOVE! ;)
