No-line Watercolor Mini Slimline Card | SSS Sketch Iris

Hey friends! I was in the mood to do some no-line watercoloring and this image from Simon Says Stamp's new Sketch Iris stamp set was PERFECT for it:

I stamped the iris image from the Sketch Iris set onto Arches Cold Pressed watercolor paper using Antique Linen Distress Ink. I then watercolored it using my Mijello Mission Gold watercolors. Once it was dry I die cut it with the coordinating wafer die.

On the background I ink blended Simon's Willow ink on top of their Smooth White card stock. I then blended the same color over the Spring Boho Circle Stencil. I of course added a bunch of splatter 😉 using Perfect Pearl powder mixed with water as well as Ranger's Picket Fence Distress Paint.

It was hard to show in the photos but I stencilled the Spring Boho Circle Stencil on the inside of the card using Simon's Deep Purple ink (and got splatter inside too - it wasn't intentional but I went with it LOL). I added a sentiment from the Sketch Iris set to finish it off.

For the envelope I used one of Simon's White Mini Slimline envelopes and blended the same Deep Purple ink over it and used the Spring Boho Circle Stencil and that was it!

Easy Distress Ink Watercolor | SSS Lavender Garden

As this post is part of the blog hop I'll have links to all the other stops lower down in my post AND there's giveaway info at the end!

I pulled out several of my Distress Oxide Sprays and had some inky fun making smooshed, splattery backgrounds that I then die cut using the new Carrot Wafer Die along with a couple of Simon's Nested Egg wafer dies.

I couldn't resist adding some gold splatter with my Gansai Tambi Starry Colors. On the card base I stamped the new Botanical Split Background using Khaki Ink.

I kept the insides simple and added a sentiment from the Easter Wishes Sentiment Strips pack and that was it!

Here's what I made:

I clear heat embossed images from the new Lavender Garden set that I'd stamped onto Distress Watercolor paper with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink. I watercolored them all in with Distress inks (and am LOVING how the watering can turned out! It was just a whim while colouring to combine the colors and it WORKED so well), and then die cut them all out with the coordinating wafer die set.

I was so happy with how the watering can turned out that I combined the Peacock Feathers and Rusty Hinge Distress inks on the background as well. I blended the Rusty Hinge Distress Ink over the new Spring Boho Circle Stencil on a background lightly blended with the Peacock Feathers Distress ink. LOVE. Of course I added a ton of splatter with Perfect Pearls powder as well as Picket Fence Distress Paint.

On the inside of the card I blended the Rusty Hinge ink over the Spring Boho Circle Stencil again and then added a sentiment from the Lavender Garden set. I paired the card with a Metallic Cotton Candy envelope and that was it!

Peony Bundle 3D Embossing Folder with Metallic Accents

Hey everyone! I never got a chance to edit and post this video last week (thanks to a massive migraine - it's gone now and thankfully I don't get them that often but when I do......UGH) - but it's done now!

This was for last week's Color Throwdown Challenge HERE <------click! which was pale pink, sage green and gold. I had this idea for these cards brewing and while I had THE hardest time getting photos to do them justice here they are lol!

These are 5 x 6.25" cards.

I used Simon Says Stamp's Peony Bundle 3D Embossing Folder on heavyweight white card stock. I then LIGHTLY brushed the raised edges with Spun Sugar and Bundled Sage Distress Oxide inks. The gold accents were made with Cosmic Shimmer Gold Treasure Gilding Polish. I brushed that on to the flower centres and "berries".

I die cut the Painted Thanks wafer die and stacked it in 3 layers, then used the Gilding Polish on that as well. You can see in the video how reflective it is - I am going to have to play more with it!

On the card bases I used Black Soot Distress Ink over Simon's Diagonal Stripe stencil.

On the insides of the cards I stamped sentiments from the Say It All Friend stamp set using Delicata Golden Glitz and Versafine Clair Nocturne inks and that was it!

Studio Light Missees by Karin Joan Haul + Easy Fun Slimline Cards!

Hello everyone! Sorry for the delay since the last video - it's generally chaos here plus I got deep into making several cards and ended up with a nearly 30 min long video to share with y'all LOL!

A couple of weeks ago I spied a new (to me) brand in the Simon Says Stamp store - Studio Light. I especially loved the looks of the "Missees" products by Karin Joan. So I ordered them all. They got here and I tore into the package, filmed the haul video for y'all and then made a bunch of cards using some of the stamps and dies and papers and bling:

All these cards are 3.5 x 8.5" slimline cards.

I had SO MUCH FUN making these cards. I used the Betty, Tasha and Carol Missees Stamps and Die sets to make all the characters. I die cut a ton of bodies/faces using all sorts of neutral card stocks in my stash. I mention in the video though how fun it would be to die cut everything from either white card stock or watercolor paper - and then use Copics/inks/markers to then get whatever skin tones you want and add contouring and highlights etc etc. You could REALLY personalize these - the sky is the limit. 

I kept all mine "simple" lol. I stuck with cardstock, stamped the facial features with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and then filled in the eye areas and added highlights with my white gel pen. 

I used patterned paper from the packs I bought (everything is linked below!) and coordinated some solid-colours of card stock from my stash to go with and then just went to town making all these into slimline cards.

I gold heat embossed sentiments from the MISSEES 8 and MISSEES 9 stamp sets for the outside and inside of the cards. To die cut those sentiments plus the elements for the insides I used the MISSEES 1 wafer die set. I of course added a whole bunch of bling to all of the cards (links below!) and that was it!

Playing with Distress Oxide Sprays & Inks | AmyR 2021 Valentine's Card Series #17

Happy Valentine's Day again! LOL! I had some time to just *play* today (that never happens anymore it seems especially as I do this for a job) and I have been wanting to use some of these stamps and dies for WEEKS now - so that's what I did. Since I really love this week's Color Throwdown Challenge I went with those colors again too:

I heavily sprayed water onto some pieces of Arches Cold Pressed watercolor paper and then sprayed them with Kitsch Flamingo and Candied Apple Distress Oxide Sprays. After I dried and flattened out the pieces I stencilled on some embossing paste over Honey Bee's Whimsical Hearts stencil and let them dry.

I stamped the lips image from the mini S.W.A.K set from Honey Bee onto white card stock using Kitsch Flamingo and Candied Apple Distress Oxide inks, and clear heat embossed them before die cutting with the coordinating wafer die.

I die cut white, pink and black card stock using the Smooch wafer die set, stacked them together and added white heat embossed sentiments from the Smooch stamp set.

I stamped the lips from the S.W.A.K. set with the Candied Apple and Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide inks onto the inside of the card (the red shows up a little better in real life - my camera and myself are not good at taking pics more than half the time 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️). I white heat embossed more sentiments from the Smooch stamp set and added those and that was it!

SSS March 2021 Card Kit Unboxing + A Card! | Watercolor with Distress Markers

Hello everyone! Happy Valentine's Day!!

Simon Says Stamp's March Card Kit just went live! You can check out the kit HERE <-------click! plus I'll have links to everything below!

I stamped the window with shutters image from the Spring Windows stamp set onto watercolor paper using Versafine Clair Morning Mist ink and heat embossed it with Wow's Clear Matt Dull embossing powder. I then used the Distress Markers that came in the kit along with a few from my stash to watercolor the image.

On the background I stamped the brick images from the Spring Windows set and heat embossed them with the same Wow Clear Matt Dull embossing powder. I blended on some Spun Sugar Distress Ink, then stamped the speckled image from the Spring Windows set with Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink.

On the inside of the card I stamped the window image with the Morning Mist ink. The sentiment from the Spring Windows set was stamped using Spun Sugar Distress Oxide ink as was the one on the front. I paired the card with the Metallic Sea Glass Envelope that comes in the kit and that was it!

SSS Botanical Heart Take 3 | AmyR 2021 Valentine's Card Series #16

Hey everyone! This week's Color Throwdown Challenge went live yesterday:

Here's what I made:

I gold heat embossed the faceted heart image from Simon Says Stamp's Botanical Heart stamp set onto some Distress watercolor paper. I then coloured it in using Candied Apple Distress Ink and a detail water brush. I then did some ink smooshing onto scraps of the same Distress watercolor paper using the Candied Apple Distress Ink, and the new Kitsch Flamingo Distress Ink. Once those were dry I die cut smaller hearts from the pieces using dies from the Botanical Heart coordinating wafer die set.

I die cut the thanks word from Simon's Small Script Trio wafer die set using black card stock and stacked 3 together to give it the dimension I like. I then gold heat embossed one of the sentiments from the Botanical Heart stamp set onto white card stock and ink blended the Kitsch Flamingo Distress Ink over it to make it match.

On the inside of the card I stamped another sentiment from the Botanical Heart stamp set and added a trio of the ink smooshed hearts die cut with the Botanical Heart wafer dies. I added a Metallic Schoolhouse Red envelope to finish it off and that was it!

Heat Embossing on Yupo Paper | AmyR 2021 Valentine's Card Series #15

Hey everyone! First off:

Next, I was SUPER inspired by one of the cards that Nina Marie Trapani posted recently. I loved the background she created and I couldn't get it out of my head so I went about creating something similar. I really LOVED the pink and purple alcohol ink backgrounds she made but decided to go with completely different color schemes to see how they'd look:

I used Ranger's Mint and Green Spectrum alcohol ink set and the Teal and Blue Spectrum set along with Silver Mixative and Gold Mixative (all the links are also posted in the supplies at the end of this post). I created 2 backgrounds using those sets on Yupo White Heavystock, then cut them in half to get 2 card fronts from each background.

I heat embossed Simon Says Stamp's XOXO Background onto the alcohol inked backgrounds using silver and gold embossing powders. I then added some splatter with Picket Fence Distress Paint and adhered the backgrounds to white card bases using Simon's Big Momma foam tape.

The "love you" die cut is from the Botanical Heart wafer die set. I popped that onto all the cards and added a stamped sentiment from the Tiny Words set that I die cut with one of the Sentiment Labels wafer dies.

I finished off the insides of the cards by stamping the XOXO background using Dusty Sage and Audrey Blue inks and that was it!

Hello Friend Card | AmyR 2021 Valentine's Card Series #14

Hey everyone! So after my earlier card and post using some of the new Kitsch Flamingo bundle, I couldn't resist playing with a few of the other products and making another card:

I die cut Simon Says Stamp's Dial Phone wafer die from Simon's 120lb Smooth White card stock and coated the pieces with clear embossing ink and then the Kitsch Flamingo Embossing Glaze. Two coats of that and I was left with this FABULOUS pink phone!!

I did the same thing with the CZ Design Hello wafer dies - and ahhhhhh I am LOVING this embossing glaze!!!

I stamped the You Are background stamp onto another piece of white card stock using Versafine Clair Nocturne ink, then splattered the background with Kitsch Flamingo Distress Paint mixed with just a little Distress Reinker.

I stamped the You Are background onto the inside of the card using the Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide ink. The sentiments on the outside and inside of the card are from the CZ Design Introverts Unite stamp set. After white heat embossing some of the sentiments from the set I die cut them with the coordinating wafer dies and/or trimmed them out with my paper trimmer and adhered them and that was it!

Easy Watercolor with Distress Oxide Sprays | AmyR 2021 Valentine's Card Series #13

Did y'all see the NEW Distress color?!? It's Kitsch Flamingo!!! You can check it out HERE <------click! I watched Tim Holtz's live video when he revealed it - and LOVED it (and yeah I've said that about all the past new colors and will continue to say that about every new color that's released. We have 8 more to go! I love color 😍😍😍). Simon Says Stamp sent me the new bundle (I design for them!) and it showed up this week! TOTALLY made my week, and of course I had to start playing with it.

It was perfect for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

Here's what I made:

I used Distress Oxide sprays in 4 colors: Kitsch Flamingo, Shaded Lilac, Squeezed Lemonade and Cracked Pistachio, and created a smooshed ink background with them on Distress watercolor paper. Once dry I die cut it with Honey Bee's Quilted A2 Coverplate die.

For the main image I white heat embossed the envelope and flowers stamp from Honey Bee's Pretty Postage stamp set onto Distress watercolor paper. I used the same Distress Oxide Sprays as the background and watercolored the image with them. Once dry I die cut it with the coordinating wafer die and popped it onto the background panel with foam tape.

I used the Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide ink and blended it onto a scrap of the watercolor paper then die cut it with the Adore wafer die word. I stacked that with a couple layers for dimension, and added white heat embossed sentiments from the coordinating Adore stamp set.

I stamped the Pretty Postage image onto the inside of the card using the Kitsch Flamingo Oxide ink, then added a white heat embossed sentiment from the same set that was die cut with the coordinating wafer die and that was it!

No monthly themes for now - I'll share what you send regardless! ❤️

Like I mention in all the Happy Mail Haul videos - I am not strict with the themes. The post can be notoriously slow sometimes especially getting to me here in Canada, so I like to share everything that shows up in my PO Box the previous month regardless! If you ever want to check out previous months Happy Mail Haul videos you can find them all here:

RAK/Happy Mail Hauls

If you want to send ahead and mail cards for multiple themes in the same package I am totally OK with that. It helps if you add a sticky note or something to mark what month each card is for. Please do not send more than 2 cards for each theme (so there are the 3 upcoming months therefore 6 cards in total). I cannot accept large packages/boxes of cards. I don't have anywhere to store large amounts plus it takes up a lot of my time to film/edit/upload these videos and limiting the submissions to 2 per person ensures it's fair for everyone. Thank you for understanding!

If you are interested in donating your cards there are MANY charities and organizations out there. You would need to do your own research to find a cause/group/organization that works for you and what you want to do! Everything from local nursing homes/palliative care units/Ronald McDonald Houses to charities to cards for troops is out there - LOTS to choose from!

Also if you haven't sent in a card before but want to go ahead! I love seeing what y'all are making, and being able to share it with the rest of my audience. We all have to start somewhere ;). Also again there's no need to send gifts or anything like that. I more than appreciate the thought, and I read all the letters I receive (I can't respond to them but I read and keep all of them!).
