For today's card I wanted to create more with my Nuvo Shimmer Powders. I LOVE playing with those powders - and I have an entire playlist on YouTube HERE <------click! of all the videos I've done using them.

I heat embossed the Simon Says Stamp Spider Web Background onto watercolor paper using Nuvo Pearl Lustre embossing powder. I then sprinkled on 3 different Shimmer Powders onto each background. On the left card I used Cherry Bomb, Lunar Rocket, and Storm Cloud. On the right card I used Lunar Rocket, Meteorite Shower and Lilac Waterfall.

I painted the Cherry Bomb Shimmer powder and the Lilac Waterfall Shimmer Powder onto another piece of watercolor paper. Once it was dry I die cut it with the Trick or Treat wafer die and adhered them to the outlines cut from vellum

I foiled (yes! Foiled!) some of the Reverse Halloween Sentiment Strips using my Mini Minc machine and some Prince Periwinkle and Passionate Pink Deco Foils. I plan to do more foiling in the future so stay tuned for more videos.

OK on to the card and video:

These are 3.5 x 8.5" slimline cards.

I used Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress Oxide inks and blended them onto a panel of Simon Says Stamp's 120lb white card stock. After blending I splattered the background with Ranger's Perfect Pearl Powder mixed with water, and then die cut it with the largest of the Slimline Nested Rectangles wafer dies. 

I die cut some white glitter cardstock using the Friendly Ghosts wafer dies, and added some Iridescent Star Crystals from Studio Katia.

On the outside and inside of the cards I used sentiments from the Handlettered Halloween set along with the coordinating wafer dies. I added some more die cut Friendly Ghosts to the inside and paired the cards with Cotton Candy Slimline envelopes and that was it!

OK now on to the newest cards:

I pulled out some of my old favourites to make these cards and one newer wafer die. The wreaths were made with the Etched Eucalyptus Wreath wafer die that was part of Simon Says Stamp's STAMPtember release. I die cut it from orange, green and purple card stocks.

On the card bases I heat embossed the Spider Web Background stamp using Hero Arts White Satin Pearl embossing powder - it's subtle but SO pretty. I need to get more of that embossing powder!

I die cut vellum using the Friendly Ghosts wafer die set and adhered 2 layers together using my Xyron Sticker Maker to make them just a little more opaque. I also used vellum for the outline of the Boo Word + Shadow Dies.

On the outside and inside of the cards I used the Halloween Sentiment Strips. I coloured the ones for the insides with Copic markers to make them match the colors of the wreath. I also stamped the Spider Web Background onto the insides of the cards with Fog ink and that was it!

SSS Nov 2020 Card Kit Unboxing + Slimline Card | Big Thanks Autumn

Hello everyone! So my November 2020 Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp showed up last? (I think it was last week - honestly with the cold I'm battling and so many other things going on my days are a blur) week so I filmed an unboxing. I also made a card and finally got all that edited and added so it's all one big happy video!

First off here's the card I made:

This is a 3.5 x 8.5" slimline card.

I stamped the large floral image from the Big Thanks Autumn set onto watercolor paper using Versafine Clair Acorn ink, and then heat embossed it with Wow's Clear Matt Dull embossing powder.

I used my Prima Tropicals watercolor palette to watercolor in the background, then added splatter with that palette and gold splatter using my Starry Colors palette.

I heat embossed sentiments from the Big Thanks Autumn set using Simon's Antique Gold embossing powder.

I used the Neenah card stock that came in the November kit to make my card base, and stamped the floral image with Simon's Khaki ink and a sentiment with the Versafine Clair Acorn ink. I pulled a Grocery Bag Slimline Envelope out of my stash and stamped that to match and that was it!

OK now on to today's cards and video:

These are 3.5 x 8.5" slimline cards.

I used the Trinity Stamps new Slimline Boo's stamp set to make these cards. The main stamp with the ghosts is a slimline size - so it's about 3 3/4 x 8 3/4". I show in the video me using it with my big Memory Misti (it's a 12x12 Misti) but you could also lay a stamp like this face up and ink it up then press the card stock onto it. 

After stamping the ghosts with Simon's Intense Black ink I did some quick colouring with Copic markers to add a little detail to the background. I used the large rectangle die from the Wonky Stitched Wilderness die set to die cut the backgrounds and add that fun stitching around the perimeter.

I used the 'bootiful' word from the Hello Boo-tiful die set and die cut it from orange card stock and the top layer from some of Simon's Flaming Orange Glitter Paper (LOVE).

On the inside of the cards I stamped the ghosts with Simon's Fog ink and then stamped a sentiment from the Slimline Boo's set with black ink.

I made coordinating slimline envelopes using some Doodlebug orange patterned 12x12 papers. I used both the Trinity Stamps Slimline Series Envelope Builder Die set and the Slimline Series Envelope Add-On set. You don't NEED both - I just ordered the Add-On die set because options lol. Plus the Add-on set includes dies to be able to make slimline boxes too which is cool .FYI the Add-on set does not work on it's own - you NEED the original Envelope Builder Die set. However if you have the original set you can make envelopes with it (as I've been doing since I got it) - the Add-on just gives you the option to make your envelopes side opening plus the box option.

August, September & October 2020 Happy Mail Haul | Cards from You!!

Hello friends! Our household got hit with a rotten cold in the past week (and the initial sufferer got tested for Covid just to be safe - it was negative so we're just dealing with a run-of-the-mill rotten cold). As is tradition I have had it for about a week now and it's been rough. I filmed this video yesterday or the day before (honestly I can't even remember at this point) while I still had a bit of energy but it's been a struggle. 

Anywho - that said. This is everything that showed up in my PO Box in August, September and up to now in October. I originally was doing Happy Mail Haul videos every month but with mailing times and international cards and literally the big ole country of Canada things take a while to get here LOL! So as of right now I'm thinking I'll do these every couple of months or so. With everything we shall just see how it goes. I love sharing the cards y'all are making - it gets my creative juices flowing plus I really love the personal notes a lot of you add. Always makes my day ❤️.

Theme: Not going to do monthly themes for a while. Let's just say Christmas/holidays, winter, night skies (I LOVE what y'all were doing with sunsets in this video so lets try that with night skies)!! I'm going to share them all regardless! ;)

Like I mention in all the Happy Mail Haul videos - I am not strict with the themes. The post can be notoriously slow sometimes especially getting to me here in Canada, so I like to share everything that shows up in my PO Box the previous month regardless! If you ever want to check out previous months Happy Mail Haul videos you can find them all here:

If you want to send ahead and mail cards for multiple themes in the same package I am totally OK with that. It helps if you add a sticky note or something to mark what month each card is for. Please do not send more than 2 cards for each theme (so there are the 3 upcoming months therefore 6 cards in total). I cannot accept large packages/boxes of cards. I don't have anywhere to store large amounts plus it takes up a lot of my time to film/edit/upload these videos and limiting the submissions to 2 per person ensures it's fair for everyone. Thank you for understanding!

If you are interested in donating your cards there are MANY charities and organizations out there. You would need to do your own research to find a cause/group/organization that works for you and what you want to do! Everything from local nursing homes/palliative care units/Ronald McDonald Houses to charities to cards for troops is out there - LOTS to choose from!

Also if you haven't sent in a card before but want to go ahead! I love seeing what y'all are making, and being able to share it with the rest of my audience. We all have to start somewhere ;). Also again there's no need to send gifts or anything like that. I more than appreciate the thought, and I read all the letters I receive (I can't respond to them but I read and keep all of them!).

Today's cards were inspired by last week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

I didn't get this up in time so this challenge is over but there will be a new one posted tomorrow!

Here's what I made:

These are 4 Bar (3.5 x 4 7/8") sized cards.

I've included these into my Halloween series - tho they don't actually say Halloween anything. However the spider and the colors make it rather fitting for Halloween IMO!!

I stamped the Honey Bee Stamps Coffee Bean Background stamp onto the card base with Simon's Khaki ink. I then mixed up embossing paste with Black Soot Distress Paint and applied it over a Tim Holtz Mini Spiderweb stencil. I also added some splatter using Crackling Campfire Distress Paint.

The spider is from The Rabbit Hole Designs Caffeinated Spider - I stamped it onto Distress watercolor paper with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink. I heat embossed it with Wow's Clear Matt Dull embossing powder, then coloured it in with Distress inks and a water brush.

I used Honey Bee's Coffee wafer die, and sentiments from the Honey Bee Coffee stamp set.

I stamped the spider onto the inside of the card with Crackling Campfire Distress Oxide ink. Another sentiment from the Honey Bee Coffee set was added to the inside to finish it off.

So for today's video I didn't make cards - I made several ADORABLE little treat boxes using my MFT Boo Box Die-namics set:

Aren't they CUTE?!?! I bought this die set a month or so ago and finally got the chance to sit down and create with it. It's meant to make the cute bat box you see in the centre, but while I was making it I started thinking of other ways I could create with it and ended up with a variety of different treat boxes by just mixing up the colors and the ways I used the dies in the original Boo Box Die-namics set.

First up is the original batty Boo Box.

Then a Vampire Boo Box with grey card stock and no wings.

I made Frankensteins Monster by making the box in green and adding "hair" with black card stock die cut with the top portion of the base die. I added neck bolts to the sides to finish it off.

A Jack-O-Lantern Boo Box in orange card stock.

Last but not least a Mummy Boo Box wrapped in cheesecloth strips.

These were SO fun to make, and I made several of each design for my kids. Our plan is to do a scavenger hunt for them instead of Trick or Treating this year (thanks Covid - tho also there's a good chance it's going to be really cold on top of it - we got snow last night and it's COLD this weekend!), so we'll have them all filled with candy and their names on them and they can hunt around the house. I think it will be a lot of fun!

For today's cards I made a BUNCH. I started foiling and just making more and more and after several sessions over several days (which was all because life and kids etc etc kept interrupting - it happens 😉) I ended up with a bunch of foiled pieces and backgrounds. I had FUN (as I say many times in the video lol!).

My first 2 cards use Spellbinders Spiderweb Background Glimmer Hot Foil set along with sentiments from the Spooky Greetings Glimmer Hot Foil Set. I used multiple colors of Glimmer Hot Foils (all the colors are listed and linked in the supplies at the end of the post) as well as die cut bats and skulls and bling of course.

My next set of cards used the same supplies as above with the addition of the Spellbinders Nested Clipped Squares dies. With these cards I used all the characters from the Spooky Greetings Glimmer Hot Foil set as my main focus. I made 2 A2 cards and 2 slimline (3.5 x 8.5") cards.

My final 3 cards used Spellbinders Sunday Drive wafer dies with the Halloween Sunday Drive Add-on set. I LOVE these dies - there is something so ridiculously cute about that car wafer die and then the Halloween add-on? Perfection.

SSS October 2020 Card Kit Unboxing + 2 Cards | Copic Marker Coloring

Hey everyone! So amongst all the business and craziness of STAMPtember coupled with the USPS and Canada Post taking longer to get the October Card Kit to me I just got it this past week! To top it off - the kit is still available HERE <------click! AND there's a few of us doing a mini hop to share more inspiration using the kit!

I made a couple of cards using the Happy Fall Y'all set from the kit as well as the GORGEOUS patterned papers:

I stamped the images from the Happy Fall Y'all stamp set onto Neenah card stock with Simon's Intense Black ink and coloured them in with Copic Markers. I added highlights with a white gel pen and cut out all the images.

I used some of the Cozy Days patterned papers that come in the October Kit as the background for both of my cards, then adhered all the stamped images into little scenes.

On the inside of the cards I added another circle of patterned paper and the remaining pumpkin and sentiment from the Happy Fall Y'all set and that was it!

Easy Multicolor Stencilled Backgrounds | SSS Falling Leaves Layering Stencils

OK on to today's cards:

These are 3.5 x 8.5" Slimline cards.

I used the new Center Cut Snowflakes Background stamp and heat embossed it onto watercolor paper twice - once with silver embossing powder and once with gold. On the gold embossed background I used Golden Sparkler, Cherry Bomb and Violet Brocade Nuvo Shimmer Powders. On the silver embossed background I used Sunray Cosette, Lilac Waterfall and Atlantis Burst Shimmer Powders.

I heat embossed the sentiment from the Center Cut Snowflakes background with the same embossing powders onto white card stock and die cut them with a circle wafer die.

I stamped the Center Cut Snowflakes Background onto the insides of both cards using Distress Oxide inks. The large sentiment is from Simon's Thankful Flowers stamp set and I heat embossed it onto white card stock before adhering to the insides of the cards and that was it!

Easy Multicolor Stencilled Backgrounds | SSS Falling Leaves Layering Stencils

SO MUCH awesomeness. I'm totally overwhelmed and don't know where to dive in first as usual.

That said I DID dive in and make a card (2 actually) for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

Here's what I made:

I used the new Falling Leaves Layering Stencil set to make the backgrounds. There are FIVE stencils in the set - 4 layer together to make up all the elements and then one stencil is just everything together (which I used on the inside and you'll see it in a second). I ink blended several Concord & 9th inks over the stencil layers to create the background, then splattered them with the inks as well as with gold watercolor from the Starry Colors palette.

I die cut and stacked the words from the new Warm Hugs wafer die set using Simon's Royal Purple card stock and added them to the outline that I die cut from Neenah Desert Storm card stock.

I used the "main" stencil from the Falling Leaves Layering Stencils on the inside of the cards. The companion sentiment on the card front and on the insides are from the Thanks Sentiment Strips pack that I blended the same C9 inks on and that was it!
