Spooky Distress Spray Stain Backgrounds | AmyR Halloween 2019 Video #7

Hello everyone!! SO - the other day I was super inspired by these amazing Halloween cards Tim Holtz showed in the livestream for his STAMPtember Limited Edition set. The set is long gone (wah - it was SUCH a great Halloween set - but that's what STAMPtember is!) however the TECHNIQUE is what I wanted to try out.

Stacy explained how she made the backgrounds for the cards in her blog post HERE <-----click! The cards were fabulous and her way of creating those amazingly spooky backgrounds had me pulling out my Distress Sprays and making a big fun mess in order to put my own spin on it:

Now I've been using the Distress Oxide Sprays ever since they were first made available. I love them for splatter and painting and whatnot. More recently I've been picking up a few of the Distress Spray Stains. Now I'm so glad I did as they made these backgrounds just pop with color.

I show in the video how I create the backgrounds, and then splattered all of them with Perfect Pearl powder mixed with water, and then Distress Picket Fence Paint.

Once everything was dry I die cut the panels with Simon's largest Wonky Rectangles wafer die, then heat embossed the Brushed Branches background stamp with Nuvo Glitter Noir embossing powder.

The sentiments are from Simon's Handlettered Halloween stamp set and I heat embossed those with Inkon3's Black as Night embossing powder. The sentiment strips were cut out from Simon's Sentiment Strips Halloween pack.

On the insides of the cards I stamped the Brushed Branches background after inking it up with Distress Oxide inks in the same colors as I used on the card fronts. I stamped more sentiments from the Handlettered Halloween stamp set and that was it!

I wanted to make a couple of quick and easy Christmas cards using the STAMPtember Avery Elle Merry Wreath set:

I pulled out my Distress Archival inks for this, along with some of the coordinating colors in the regular Distress Ink. The neat think about Distress Archival inks is that it's the Archival formula (so they're waterproof, fade resistant, archival and permanent on many surfaces) but in Distress colors. Right now there's only the 3 sets available (so 12 colors) and they're in the Archival mini size (which I personally love - more colors and less storage space). I'm hoping they release them in all the Distress colors as I'd like to have them - I love using them for stamping sentiments etc as they're MEANT for stamping whereas the Distress Inks (and the Oxides) are more meant to direct to paper techniques etc.

OK any who - I stamped the wreath and leaves and berries with the Distress Archival inks (Vintage Photo, Barn Door, Fossilized Amber and Peeled Paint) and then stamped the leaves and berries over them with regular Distress ink. Since I'd stamped everything onto Distress watercolor paper, I sprayed the paper with water and all the images I'd stamped with the Distress ink started to move while the stamping done with the Archival inks stayed put.

I used Wendy Vecchi's Carnation Red embossing powder for the bow, and Simon's Gold embossing powder for the sentiment. I also added Nuvo Crystal Drops in Red Berry to the wreath, and some Studio Katia Golden Crystals to finish it off.

On the insides of the cards I heat embossed the sentiment from the Merry Wreath set with the same Carnation Red embossing powder and stamped the berries and leaves with the Archival inks and that was it!

Hazy Blue Oxide Blended Backgrounds | SSS Wilflowers Stamp Set Take 3

Happy weekend everyone! As it's still STAMPtember (is it just me or did the month just FLY by and yet it feels crazy that it's STILL September?) don't forget there are still new Limited Edition releases!! You can check out what's new/what's still available here:

After I posted these cards using one of the collab sets I thought how cool it would be to use Simon's Wildflowers stamp set for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

Here's what I made:

I stamped the images from the Wildflowers stamp set onto Bristol Smooth card stock with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink then heat embossed them with Simon's Clear Detail embossing powder.

It was SUPER easy to create the backgrounds - I sponged on Distress Oxide inks in Blueprint Sketch, Weathered Wood and Tumbled Glass. Then I splattered water and Perfect Pearl Powder mixed with water and let that all dry.

Simon's Big Friend and Thinking of You wafer dies were used for the sentiments - stacked with layers of black card stock and topped with Nuvo Cobalt Velour Satin Mirror card 😍💙😍 (SERIOUSLY - it's SO gorgeous 💙💙💙💙💙). I added a bunch of Studio Katia crystals for bling to really finish everything off.

I inked up the Wildflowers stamps with those same Distress Oxide inks, and then added sentiments from the Say It All Friend stamp set and that was it!

Easy Masking and Copic Coloring Rainbow Birthday Cards

I made 2 bright and easy cards using the new kit:

I stamped the images from the Celebrate You stamp set with Simon's Intense Black ink onto 120lb white card stock. With some really simple masking I layered some of the balloons and the clouds, and then coloured them all in with Copic markers.

I kept all the colouring simple - but you could totally take these cards to the next level. Some Crystal Glaze on the balloons, some glitter, highlights with a white gel pen etc!

I stamped and masked the balloons and whatnot on the inside of the card and coloured them in with the same Copics. I stamped sentiments from the Celebrate You stamp set, added a strip of the same patterned papers and that was it!

Easy Blended Backgrounds with Hero Hues Reactive Inks

Hey everyone!! By now I think y'all know my STAMPtember drill LOL! I've been keeping my STAMPtember post updated with the newest and still available releases - you can bookmark the post here:

Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember Limited Edition Releases!

Earlier today the Hero Arts limited edition set was released and I just finished uploading my video using it:

This Real Flowers Vintage set is FABULOUS. Since it is Limited Edition and won't be available for long I did also link to Simon's Wildflowers stamp set as it has a similar "vibe". 

I clear heat embossed the images after stamping them onto Bristol Smooth card stock with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink. I then blended Hero Hues Reactive inks over the panels. For this first card I used Creamsicle, Blue Raspberry, Berry Smoothie, and Grape Slush ink.

I splattered the background with water, and then splattered on a mix of Perfect Pearl powder and water which gives a shimmery splatter effect.

For the second card I used Creamsicle, Fruit Punch, Berry Smoothie, Grape Slush and Blue Hawaii Reactive inks. I added the same splatter, and then when the panels were dry I cut them down and adhered them to the card bases with Simon's Big Momma Foam Tape.

For some additional bling I added some Studio Katia Iridescent Butterflies - they were too perfect for cards like these!

On the insides of both cards I inked up the stamps with the same inks I used for all the blending and stamped them multiple times. That's it!

8 Cards 1 Kit | Simon Says Stamp Thankful Flowers Card Kit

Hello everyone!! I've been swamped with life the last few days - that said I have a super long video with 8 cards to share with y'all to make up for it!

OK on to the cards!!

I used two different types of embossing powder (both linked below) as well as Simon's Dark Chocolate ink to stamp the large floral image from the Thankful Flowers stamp set onto several card front panels.

To make all of these cards slightly different I just mixed and matched the MME My Heritage 6x6 patterned papers that come in the October card kit and used different ones or pieces of different ones on each card.

I also used a combination of stamped sentiments from the Thankful Flowers set, the Bold Thanks wafer die and the gold foil Thickers that come in the kit to make all my sentiments.

All the card insides were stamped with the same floral cluster image - this time with Simon's Cobblestone ink. Then I added stamped and/or heat embossed sentiments and strips of the patterned papers and that was it!

The Stamp Market & Concord&9th | STAMPtember Limited Editions

Hey everyone!! OK so I've been struggling to keep up with all the STAMPtember releases and making videos for y'all! SO. MANY. GREAT. SETS!!! If you haven't seen my post where I keep them listed and updated you can find that here:

Now on to the latest card:

I used 2 different STAMPtember releases for this card: The Concord & 9th Triangle Turnabout (which is almost sold out as of posting this - if it's gone I've also linked to a similar Turnabout stamp below!) and The Stamp Market Just Because stamp set.

I gold heat embossed the Triangle Turnabout as well as stamped it with Dark Chocolate, Cobblestone and Unicorn White ink onto Neenah Desert Storm card stock.

I then stamped the leaf images from the Just Because stamp set with the Dark Chocolate and Cobblestone inks and then gold heat embossed the "string" and part of the sentiment. As always no card would be complete without some Studio Katia Golden Crystals lol!

I finished off the inside of the card in a similar way and used up the remaining bit of the background I'd created and that was it!

Studio Katia Sparkling Florals | STAMPtember Limited Edition

Hello everyone! Hope you're having a great weekend! I have a card and video for y'all using the NEW STAMPtember limited edition collab with Studio Katia!

OK on to the card:

This is a 5" square card.

I used the fabulous new Floral Frame Stamp & Die combo from Studio Katia that is only available while supplies last through Simon Says Stamp for STAMPtember!

I heat embossed the floral image using Inkon3's Strawberry Champagne embossing powder onto Distress watercolor paper. To color in the images I used my Karin Brushmarker Pro's along with a water brush.

After I finished watercoloring in the flowers I coated them with Inkon3's Liquid Pixie Dust - the sparkle is INSANE.

I also dry embossed Studio Katia's Grid Stencil onto white card stock for my base, and die cut some Tim Holtz rose gold foil card stock with one of the Studio Katia Fancy Scallop Circle wafer dies. The hello sentiment is from the same die set, and I finished that off by heat embossing the 'friend' work from Simon's Tiny Words stamp set.

And of course I couldn't finish off the card without some Studio Katia embellishments - namely some Exotic Onyx Pearls and Rose Gold Confetti.

To finish off the inside of the card I inked up the floral frame image with the same Brushmarkers that I used on the card front. These markers aren't meant for stamping but they worked perfectly! I then stamped a sentiment from the Floral Frame set, and added another mini sentiment from the Tiny Words stamp set and that was it!

3 Halloween Cards 1 Kit | SSS Stamptember Spook Up Some Fun LE Kit

OK on to the cards!!

I made three cards with the kit (plus a few extra supplies like Glow in the Dark embossing powder) and all three glow in the dark!!

I used the new Ghost Frame and Batty stencils with Brutus Monroe Glow in the Dark Glitter Glaze (the stencils and glitter glaze come in the kit), and then heat embossed the sentiment from the Spook Up Some Fun stamp set with Glow in the Dark embossing powder.

Isn't it so fun?!?

I embellished all the cards with Tim Holtz Idea-ology Creepy Eyes, and all used patterned paper from the Carta Bella Happy Halloween 6x6 pack.

I used the Skeleton Faces stencil inside one of the cards, and the Batty and Ghost Frame stencils again on the others. I finished them off with sentiments from the Spook Up Some Fun stamp set and ephemera from the kit and that was it!

Like I mention in all the Happy Mail Haul videos - I am not strict with the themes.. The post can be notoriously slow especially getting to me here in Canada, so I like to share everything that shows up in my PO Box the previous month regardless! If you ever want to check out previous months Happy Mail Haul videos you can find them all here:

If you want to send ahead and mail cards for multiple themes in the same package I am totally OK with that. It helps if you add a sticky note or something to mark what month each card is for. Please do not send more than 2 cards for each theme (so there are the 3 upcoming months therefore 6 cards in total). I cannot accept large packages/boxes of cards. I don't have anywhere to store large amounts plus it takes up a lot of my time to film/edit/upload these videos and limiting the submissions to 2 per person ensures it's fair for everyone. Thank you for understanding!

If you are interested in donating your cards there are MANY charities and organizations out there. You would need to do your own research to find a cause/group/organization that works for you and what you want to do! Everything from local nursing homes/palliative care units/Ronald McDonald Houses to charities to cards for troops is out there - LOTS to choose from!

Also if you haven't sent in a card before but want to go ahead! I love seeing what y'all are making, and being able to share it with the rest of my audience. We all have to start somewhere ;). Also again there's no need to send gifts or anything like that. I more than appreciate the thought, and I read all the letters I receive (I can't respond to them but I read and keep all of them!).

Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember Limited Edition Releases!

Here's what I created:

I used another one of the STAMPtember limited edition sets - this time the PinkFresh Partial Cut Floral Frame set. It's available still as a stamp set + wafer die or as a stamp set only.

I gold heat embossed the floral frame image onto Distress Watercolor card stock and then coloured it with Nuvo Aqua Flow pens and a water brush.

I die cut some Midnight Plum Mirror Card with Simon's Large Thank You Swirl wafer die, and also added some Nuvo Amethyst Squares and Water Droplets Gemstones.

To finish off the inside of the card I inked up the Floral Frame image with the same Nuvo Aqua Flow pens, lightly misted it with water and stamped it onto the inside of my card.
