Watercolor with Distress Oxide Reinkers | SSS Wake Up & Makeup

Hey everyone!! I apologize in the video but just a heads up that my voice sounds pretty bad lol. I caught a chest cold over the weekend and as usual it's affected my voice.

I really wanted to get this video posted though so I powered through:

I LOVE Simon Says Stamp's new Wake Up & Makeup stamp set - and I've been itching to use it since it was released! I had an idea to focus on the lipstick images and sentiment from the set, and decided to use Ranger's Distress Oxide reinkers to do the colouring and create the backgrounds.

I used the reinkers to color in the lipsticks and to paint the backgrounds (adding splatter of course). I also used Inkon3's Liquid Pixie Dust on the lipstick containers to add some super shimmer and sparkle.

I finished the insides of the cards with more sentiments and lipsticks from the Wake Up & Makeup set and that was it!

Watercolor with Distress Oxide Sprays | SSS Sketch Tulip Bouquet

Here's what I made:

I white heat embossed Simon Says Stamp's Sketch Tulip Bouquet onto Distress Water-colour cardstock, and then watercolored them with Distress Oxide Sprays and a paintbrush.

I created the background with Distress Oxide Inks and sprayed it with Sparkle Sheer Shimmer Spritz to give it a ton of shimmer. I also added some Studio Katia September Crystals as the color was perfect for the background.

I finished off the inside of the card by stamping the tulips and the sentiment with Distress Oxide inks and added some splatter with the Peeled Paint Distress Oxide Spray and that finished it off!

Woodland Walk Shimmer Powders Backgrounds

Hello everyone!! Since I posted the Tonic Woodland Walk collection the other day (you can check that post out here if you missed it) I had a TON of requests to show things - especially the new Shimmer Powders. Which of course I'm happy to oblige (and had them sitting out anyway as I wanted to use them first too anyway lol!):

I created 2 heat embossed backgrounds using Simon Says Stamp's Outline Leaves Background stamp. I stamped it onto Bee water-colour paper and used Tonic's Golden Sunflower embossing powder. Then once they were embossed I used the new Falling Leaves Shimmer Powder on the card on the right and the new Golden Sparkler Shimmer Powder on the card on the left.

For my sentiments I used Simon's Big Thanks wafer die, and stacked each of the sentiments multiple times before topping them with Tonics Mirror Card in Rustic Dusk and Flourishing Green. The sentiments were stamped with the Woodland Walk Hybrid inks using Simon's Big Thanks Words stamp set. After everything was adhered I added Crystal Drops in Soft Mint and Dirty Bronze to each of the cards.

On the insides of the cards I adhered the circles from the backgrounds that I'd die cut out. The thanks word was heat embossed with the same Golden Sunflower embossing powder - this time onto vellum. I then ran those through my Xyron X sticker maker to put adhesive on the back of the vellum and adhered them to the circles. After adding another stamped sentiment strip I added them to the inside of the cards and they were done!

Layered Stencilled Backgrounds with Honey Bee Stamps & Stencils

Oh it's Monday and I'm already ready for a nap it seems. LOL just one small issue after another. 

However - that said - Honey Bee had a HUUUUGGGGEEEE release this month - like HUGE. It's their 4th "BEE"day and they definitely wanted to celebrate in style!!!

I do have plans to do a Release & Review video but I'm just waiting (impatiently b/c they're fabulous and I want them) for the patterned papers to arrive first. I've had a lot of requests for a video showing everything and it most likely will end up being either one LONG video or I could split it up into multiple parts/videos - what do y'all think?

Anywho - I made a whole bunch of cards with some of the new release:

I was stencilling and splattering and spraying up a storm with all of these lol! I originally meant to create 4 backgrounds using some of the new stencils and making 4 cards from them. That turned into 8 cards and then I got an additional 2 made from some of the "leftover" butterflies and sentiments I had - so 10 altogether!

I created the backgrounds using the new Hexagon Patterns and Diamond Patterns stencils along with Distress Oxide inks. I combined those with the new Hexagon Patterns and Diamond Patterns stamp sets on one each of the backgrounds. The other backgrounds I layered the stencils as each set comes with 2 stencils in different sizes. The stencils aren't meant to be layered (as in that's not how they were designed - they were designed to go with the stamp sets) but I thought why not plus I was curious to see what would happen!

I used Honey Bee's Double Stitched Diamonds and Hexagon Solid Stack wafer dies to die cut out the backgrounds I'd stencilled and stamped on. That gave me two pieces of each to use on multiple cards. The other backgrounds where I layered the stencils I just cut up with a paper trimmed to get multiple cards.

For all of the butterflies and sentiments I used the new Fluttering By stamp set and coordinating die set. I white heat embossed the butterflies onto Distress Watercolor card stock, then sprayed them liberally with Distress Oxide Sprays. After they were dry I painted over the butterflies with Tonic's Glitter Gloss Aqua Shimmer pen to give them a ton of sparkle and die cut them with their coordinating dies.

For the "extra" last 2 cards I had some butterflies and sentiments left over and didn't want to waste them. So I took the stencils again and just lightly sponged the same Distress inks over them directly onto the card bases. I added a bunch of splatter from the Oxide Sprays and then adhered the butterflies with foam tape and glued on the sentiments.

To finish off the insides of the cards I stamped the butterflies with the same Oxide inks I used to create all the backgrounds. I then stamped the sentiments from the Fluttering By sets with black ink and that was it!

National Tea Day Blog Hop with Honey Bee Stamps

Hello everyone!! Today is National Tea Day so I'm hopping along with a bunch of other fabulous designers to celebrate! There's also giveaway info at the end!

I decided to combine my card with this week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

Here's what I made:

We're all using Honey Bee Stamps Tea Time stamp set for this hop as it's rather fitting for National Tea Day lol!

I stamped the images onto Distress Water-colour paper with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink, clear heat embossed them then watercolored them with PinkFresh Studio Liquid water-colours.

I used Honey Bee's Geometric Background stencil along with Blueprint Sketch Distress oxide to create my background. I added splatter with Distress Oxide Sprays and stamped the sentiment directly onto the background with the same Nocturne ink.

I finished off the inside of the card with images from the Tea Time set and more sentiments from the Perfect Blend stamp set and that was it!

Customized Dinosaur Birthday Card

Hello everyone! I hope y'all are having a great weekend so far! 

My littlest little turned 4 last week and after asking his favorite color (purple) and having a discussion about dinosaurs I combined the two to make his birthday card:

Simon Says Stamp's Picture Book T-Rex OF COURSE made an appearance on this card along with Picture Book Dino and a bunch of other wafer dies LOL!

I customized the card using CZ Design's All Caps No 1 wafer die set, as well as the Balloons dies and Everett Solid Numbers wafer dies to create the balloon.

I finished off the inside with sentiments from the CZ Design Birthday Palooza stamp set and that was it!

Alcohol Pearl Ink Backgrounds 2 Ways | SSS Delicate Flowers

Alrighty folks - I posted my Unboxing Video of Simon's May Card Kit yesterday - click HERE if you missed that, and here's my first couple of cards made using the kit:

I used the Alcohol Pearl inks and created two backgrounds - one on Yupo paper (card on the left) and one on Silver Sparkle Alcohol Paper (card on the right). I also used the Delicate Flowers stamp set that comes in the kit (and is also available separately - links to everything below!).

I white heat embossed the images from the Delicate Flowers set onto vellum and fussy cut them, and white heat embossed them directly onto the Yupo paper background.

To finish the insides of the cards I stamped some of the images with Distress Oxide inks in colors that went well with the Pearl Alcohol ink backgrounds. The sentiments on the insides and fronts were from the Delicate Flowers stamp set and white heat embossed onto Cotton Candy card stock before being die cut with the Sentiment Labels wafer dies.

Waffle Flower Bouquet Builder 3 | NEW Water Media Mat First Impressions

Happy Friday again!! I'm SUPER excited to be a part of a special hop for Waffle Flower's NEW Water Media Mat. They revealed the mat at Creativation at the beginning of the year and everyone's been chomping at the bit to get one ever since!! 

And for those that haven't been "in the know" about this mat and wondering what all the fuss is about - here's what I'm talking about:

Here's the card I created:

I used the new Bouquet Builder 3 stamp set for this card and stamped all the images onto water-colour paper with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink. I then used Distress Inks to watercolor the flowers with a paintbrush and water.

The background of the card was made with Distress Inks and some Distress Oxide ink smooshing on the Water Media mat. Once everything was dry and assembled I added a bunch of Nuvo Dream Drops in Dragon Scales and Cloud 9.

I kept the inside of the card simple and just stamped the large bouquet with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink and that was it!

MFT Picture Perfect Shutter Card | EASY Interactive Card

My card starts off as a simple gate-fold card made from Kraft card stock. I created a wrap with patterned paper and used the new Polaroid Shaker Frame Die-namics, and paired it with one of the images from the new Picture Perfect stamp set (animals taking selfies? Yes please).

I kept the outside of the card simple as the real show is on the inside of the card:

I used the new Shutter Card Components Die-namics to make a movable "shutter" that opens as the sides of the card are opened - and it reveals the selfie-taking hamsters in full color. SO. CUTE. AMIRIGHT?

I don't "do" many interactive cards - I just am not a fan if it takes a ton of thought and effort (my mind is always on a million other things constantly lol). This however was super easy to put together - and the result is so fun. I highly recommend trying one out!
