For those of you that missed my card and video showing my "home made" glitter paste the other day:
SSS Love You To Pieces Card | AmyR Valentine 2018 Series #12
I mentioned that I had the Tonic Nuvo Glimmer pastes on order. They arrived yesterday and I was a bit worried that the cold weather (we've been in the middle of a cold snap the last week or two - yesterday it was around -31C or so?) might freeze and then ruin them. I was kicking myself for ordering them all NOW and not waiting till it warmed up! Anywho - they showed up and yup were completely frozen. I let them thaw out over night without opening them, and then opened a couple. So far they're completely fine!
I ended up using three of them to make this card:
I sponged some Simon Says Stamp Hollyhock ink onto Bristol Smooth card stock (I chose SSS ink b/c it doesn't react with water - which means the color won't run or react when you add things like glitter paste etc over it), then pulled out the SSS Large Falling Hearts stencil that was released some time ago (last year I think?).
I then used Tonic's Moonstone, Pink Opal and Garnet Red Glimmer Pastes over the stencil working my way up from lightest to darkest to create an ombre effect. LOVE how that turned out!! **Note that you want to clean your palette knife and stencils etc off immediately after using glitter pastes (or any embossing paste really) before it can dry on your tools and whatnot. It's a LOT easier to wash off if you do it immediately after.
The die cut sentiment was another older release from SSS: the Heart Smile sentiment. I stacked that 3 times to give it more depth. As I was doing that I remembered that SSS released this adorable Happy Hearts wafer die set - it was PERFECT with this sentiment IMO. I covered a piece of Cotton Candy card stock with the Garnet Red Glimmer Paste and once it was dry I die cut it with the hearts. I used a Black Glaze pen to draw over the little smiles as those were rather lost in the glitter, then added some enamel "eyes" to both of them.
I used the stencil on the inside of the card with the Hollyhock ink, then stamped a sentiment from SSS's Really Like You stamp set with Intense Black ink and that was it!
