MFT Monster Love Maze Cards | AmyR Valentine 2018 Series #11

Hello everyone! Just when I thought most of my technical issues were behind me after a couple of weeks of chaos it seems more have cropped up. Top that off with me catching the cold that's going around and I'm just shaking my head at everything LOL!

However - I did manage to make some more cards for my Valentine's series - and these were fun and turned out cute and I couldn't wait to share them with all of you!!

These are 4.25" square cards.

I used a whole bunch of My Favorite Things stamps and Die-namics and Stencil and inks and card stocks to make these 4 fun square cards.

I heat embossed the images from MFT's Monster Sized stamp set onto Bristol Smooth card stock and watercolored them with Clean Color Real Brush markers. I added a second layer of color using a Tonic Aqua Shimmer Pen so they're bright and glittery.

I used some SSS Shape Sprinkles for all the eyes on the monsters, and popped all of them onto the cards with foam tape.

I used the Full of Heart stencil on the backgrounds and inked 4 of MFT's dye inks on it before die cutting hearts to insert the heart pouches and heart mazes.

I used the Love You Die-namics to spell the word LOVE using the heart maze as the O.

I finished off the insides of the cards with a sentiment from the Monster Sized stamp set and that was it!

C9 Polka Dot Stuck on You Card | Distress Oxide Watercolor | AmyR Valentine 2018 Series #10

Hello everyone! Today's post has a slightly different twist on it today. I have a couple of fun masculine-themed Valentine's Day cards and video, AND I'm collaborating with JORD watches for this post. JORD reached out to me some time ago, and normally I turn down all offers not strictly related to card making (collaboration/payment/products - I get a lot of random and sometimes downright weird offers sometimes) but this intrigued me. They make watches from wood and they have some rather unique designs and the quality and coolness of them made me want to share them with y'all!

For those that follow my other social media channels (specifically my Facebook page and Instagram page) y'all know I've been dating Chris for some time now ;). I was wondering what on earth to get him for Valentine's Day, then this opportunity with JORD came up and problem solved LOL!

This one is amazing though and will make such a great gift (like I mention in the video I tend to go more low-key for Valentine's Day and something like this I'd go for anniversary or Christmas. Regardless of when though I think these make for a wonderful gift). Now my only problem is having to hold on to it until Valentine's Day (and yes he knows about it as I measured him before getting the watch - but we agreed to keep it a "surprise" till the day of). I'm the WORST when it comes to keeping secrets when it comes to gift giving. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me?

OK now on to the cards I've already shown y'all sneak peeks of above:

I have had a LOT of requests to show more of Concord & 9th's Turnabout stamps in more videos, so for today's card I used their Polka Dot Turnabout stamp to stamp both of these cards. I used Neenah Desert Storm 100lb card stock as my card bases, and stamped the Polka Dot Turnabout with various Distress Oxide inks and some Delicata Golden Glitz ink.

My focal points were created with the Concord & 9th Stuck on You stamp set - I stamped the images onto Canson XL watercolor card stock with Versafine Onyx Black ink and watercolored them in with the Distress Oxide inks. 

I finished off the insides of the card by stamping the images with the Oxide inks, and like I mention in the video I really think that these would have been great as cards on their own. I just have a thing for how the Oxides look on the Desert Storm card stock and these images stand so well on their own!

Organization - Alcohol Ink Swatches & Chart

And just like that the weekend is over. Like I mentioned in my previous post I've been having technical difficulties - it's still an issue but I'm working through regardless.

One thing I've been trying to do lately is organize - and do it in small bits. I don't have the time (or space) to do a REAL good overhaul and organize, as right now the kids and I are living in a rental with some rather strict lease agreements. It means I'm pretty limited, AND because it's a rental I don't have the desire to do anything major as it's all temporary here. That being said though there are smaller organizational things I CAN do - and when I can I will share what those are with all of you! I know I really love seeing how people organize all their stamping/crafting stuff, and it's something that is requested of me all the time.

Don't forget that I do have a Organization/Storage/Studio category <-----click! here on my blog that has posts and videos over the years covering all sorts of things related to organizing and storing all the things.

So today I decided it was high time to swatch and organize my Ranger Alcohol inks. I have an Alcohol Ink category on here too with a whopping 3 posts so far lol - but I plan to do more.

I decided I need swatches of the alcohol inks I have so that I can see at a glance what colors look like and what looks good together etc. Being able to properly see inks (whether it be alcohol inks, or stamping inks, paints etc etc etc) makes a HUGE difference!

I also wanted to see what colors I have and what ones I need to get, so I downloaded this Ranger alcohol ink chart <------click! from their website. I printed that off onto cheap lightweight card stock as it's just a visual at a glance guide - the tags I made are what I plan to use as an actual color guide.

I figured out what would work best for me in terms of swatches and labelling and whatnot, pulled all the supplies together and then worked on making my tags and creating the labels and whatnot:

Ellen Hutson S'Whale Alcohol Ink Shaker Card

Hey everyone! I've been having technical difficulties the last few days and it's made it take WAY longer than usual to get posts and videos and supplies posted. It's frustrating but hopefully I'll have things back to normal for me ASAP (thankfully on your end everything should be showing up and looking normal).

My card for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge is WAY late because of all this. I ended up doing the voiceover in my car in -20(C) - and that corrupted and I had to completely re-do it - in my car in the cold LOL. Lately my car is the only place quiet enough to get a voiceover done as the kids are so loud there's literally no quiet enough place in the house. Usually it's not too bad but of course the last couple of days it's got cold and snowy again! Anywho - here is the challenge for this week:

Here's what I made:

I did a little playing with alcohol inks and created the background on Yupo paper using Pool ink and the Silver Mixative. I was basically just dropping and dabbing the colors on - nothing too special technique-wise!

I also managed to stamp on the finished alcohol ink background with MFT's Tangy Orange Hybrid ink. I heat set the ink with my heat tool (being careful not to overheat the Yupo paper as I'm not sure how it holds up to heat) and it was good to go.

The window was die cut with Ellen Hutson's Strands wafer die, and the stamped images are all from the EH S'Whale stamp set. I heat embossed the whale onto Distress Watercolor paper and watercolored it in with Daniel Smith Neutral Tint watercolor and a water brush.

I heat embossed the sentiment onto the inside of the card (and couldn't for the life of me get a decent picture of it - it says "Get whale soon") with the same silver embossing powder, stamped the images on the inside to finish it off and that was it!

Studio Katia Bear Hugs Action Wobble Card | AmyR Valentine 2018 Series #9 + Giveaway!!

Hey everyone!! I have another fun Valentine-themed card and video for y'all AND there's another giveaway at the end of the post!

I used Studio Katia's Sweet Heart Candy stamp set to create my background by stamping the solid heart image multiple times in light "conversation heart" colors. I then stamped a bunch of the sentiments from that set with red ink, and stamped the little outline heart images from the Studio Katia Kobi's Hugs & Kisses stamp set to fill it all in.

The bear and heart are from Studio Katia's Kobi's Hugs & Kisses set. I stamped the images onto Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80lb card stock with MFT's Extreme Black ink and coloured them in with Copics. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and popped the heart on with a mini Action Wobble. 

I finished off the inside of the card with sentiments from the Kobi's Hugs & Kisses set along with the solid heart from the Sweet Heart Candy set and that was it!

SSS Cosmos Background | Daniel Smith Watercolors

Simon Says Stamp Love First Impressions Release & Review!

I couldn't resist inking up and watercoloring the new Simon Says Stamp Cosmos Background stamp and making a card with it:

I decided to be a little "extra" and stamped the background onto Canson XL watercolor paper with Versafine Onyx black ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I say "extra" because it requires stamping multiple times (so a stamp platform is a huge help - you could lay the stamp face up and ink it like I've shown a lot in the past. I chose not to even try that though since I was using the Versafine ink and I tend to get WAY to messy using that method). I was able to get a REALLY crisp image of this background on the watercolor paper, and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder so it's all raised and glossy.

I used some Daniel Smith watercolors (Opera Pink, Quinacridone Rose, Hooker's Green, Neutral Tint and New Gamboge) to watercolor in the panel. Honestly you could use anything - Distress Inks would look fabulous. As would any other watercolor or marker like Tombows or Zigs. I was just in the mood for the Daniel Smith watercolors tonight ;). 

The sentiment is the new Here for You wafer die - I am loving this new font SSS is adding to their wafer die sentiments (and y'all know I love me some sentiment wafer dies - I can never have enough). I stacked it 3 times and backed it with a piece of vellum that I'd die cut with one of the SSS Nested Hearts wafer dies.

I added some Studio Katia Cupids Kiss Crystals that were included in the SSS February Card Kit - they're subtle on such a busy background but they add a little somethin' somethin'.

I finished off the inside of the card with a sentiment from the Handwritten Love set that was released last month and that was it!

Simon Says Stamp Love First Impressions Release & Review!

Honey Bee Stamps Rainbow To-Go Cups | AmyR Valentine 2018 Series #8

Happy Wednesday everyone! I HAD to make a coffee-themed Valentine's Card for this years series - it was just too fitting lol:

And colouring it in rainbow order was another "had to" LOL. I am a little obsessed with Honey Bee's Unicorn Rhinestone mix and when I was looking at it I wanted to use them again and then decided on the Coffee Break stamp set and it all just started rolling from there.

I did some masking of the to-go cup image from the Honey Bee Stamps Coffee Break set so that I could stamp several of them in a row on the Distress Watercolor card stock. I used MFT's Extreme Black ink and watercolored them in with Distress inks, again using only 3 for the rainbow of colors - this time I switched Mermaid Lagoon (my go-to color) for Blueprint Sketch as I wanted a more true blue.

I created the sentiment using Honey Bee's Perfect Blend stamp set and the coffee word die cut is from the coordinating die set. I then of course added a ton of the Unicorn Rhinestones. Once I start with those it's hard to stop LOL!

I finished off the inside of the card with one of my favorite sentiments from the Perfect Blend set, and masked and stamped the to-go cups along the bottom to finish it off.

SSS Picture Book Animals Baby Card

Hello everyone!!

Aren't these animals adorable? I am seriously obsessed with all the Simon Says Stamp Picture Book Animal wafer dies. I needed to make a baby card and pulled out three of the newest ones - the elephant, giraffe and zebra to make my card.

I used Simon's Balloons wafer die set and customized it to spell out the baby's name using the SSS Grid Play Alphas stamp set that I heat embossed on to each balloon. The "hello" die cut is from the new Hello Beautiful Gorgeous die set - I love the size and font of it.

I finished off the inside of the card using a couple of stamps from Simon's Cuddly Critters Accessories stamp set and paired it with a SSS Soft Navy envelope to tie everything together and that was it!

Lawn Fawn Conversation Heart Shaker Card | AmyR Valentine 2018 Series #7

Hello everyone! I made a fun shaker card using Lawn Fawn's How You Bean? stamp set and coordinating die sets, and combined them with the newer coordinating Conversation Heart Add-on set:

I stamped all the images with MFT's Extreme Black ink onto Neenah 80lb Classic Crest Solar White card stock and coloured them in with Copic markers. 

I die cut all the images with the coordinating dies assembled all my pieces to create this fun jar filled with Conversation hearts. I used Lawn Fawn patterned papers (the blue is from their Watercolor Wishes 6x6 and the green is from the Perfectly Plaid Rainbow 6x6) to create my scene. The You're Sweet sentiment is one of their newer dies, I ran the black card stock through my little Xyron "X" Sticker maker before die cutting it - made it MUCH easier to adhere into place.

I finished off the inside of the card with a sentiment and the solid heart image from the Conversation Heart Add-on set and that was it!

SSS Center Cut Heart 2 Ways | Distress Inks | AmyR Valentine 2018 Series #6

It's a foggy grey/white day today - so I definitely needed some BRIGHT color to cheer things up:

I made these 2 cards using three Distress inks (yup only three!) and Simon Says Stamp's Center Cut Heart background and Stained Glass Love stamp sets.

I used Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks to create my backgrounds. I pressed them onto flexible plastic (I used cut up pieces of Ziploc portion bags, sandwich bags or any thin type of plastic like that would work - and if you wipe them off you can re-use the same piece dozens and dozens of times - one bag will last me a REALLY long time).

I love the fact that even though I only used three inks I still ended up with two completely different backgrounds. I used SSS's Center Cut Heart background stamp and heat embossed it with white embossing powder on both backgrounds. For the sentiments I used the SSS Stained Glass Love stamp set and coordinating die set.

I finished off the insides of the cards with more stamped sentiments from the Stained Glass Love stamp set and that was it!

MFT Viking | Copic Markers | AmyR Valentine 2018 Series #5 + Giveaway!

Happy Weekend everyone! I have another card and video for my Valentine series AND the biggest giveaway to date. More on that at the end of the post!

I just love the new My Favorite Things Viking set, and decided to pair it with the Magical Dragons set as it all reminded me of the How to Train Your Dragon movie LOL!

I stamped the images onto Neenah 80lb Classic Crest Solar White with MFT's new Extreme Black ink and coloured them in with Copic markers. All the patterned paper is from the Doodlebug Dragon Tails 6x6 pack - I actually used some of it LOL!

I finished up the inside of my card with more of the patterned papers, and stamped a larger dragon image and a sentiment from the Magical Dragons set and that was it!

MFT Friends in the Forest | Copics | CTD #476

Hello everyone! This week's Color Throwdown challenge is a "chilly" one:

Here's what I made:

I used MFT's Friends in the Forest stamp set because I just ADORE the images in this set and thought the colors worked perfectly with it!

I stamped the owl and the bear onto Neenah 80lb Classic Crest Solar White with MFT's new Extreme Black ink and coloured them in with Copic markers. I added polka dots and highlights with a white gel pen and die cut them with their coordinating dies.

I finished off the inside of the card by stamping the bear with Kraft ink then masking him before stamping the trees in the Blue Breeze ink. I stamped another one of the sentiments from the set onto a strip of the leftover patterned paper, adhered it in place and that was it!

SSS Handcrafted Hello Card | Stacked Hearts & Feb '18 Kit Supplies

Hello everyone! Not only did I get a chance to play with the new Simon Says Stamp February Card Kit but I also got my Gemini Junior die cutting machine set up and used it for the first time (initial thoughts are it's pretty great!) and made a card:

I pulled out Simon's Stacked Hearts wafer die - it was released a couple of years ago and is still one of my favourites. I ran it through my Gemini Junior 3 times and stacked them together for dimension. I used one of the patterned papers from the kit for my card front, and adhered the Stacked Hearts die cut to it.

The sentiment is from the new Crafty Friends stamp set that comes in the kit, I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder onto some of the Audrey Blue card stock from the kit. 

I also stamped several of the images from the set onto the envelope with SSS's Slate ink just to dress it up.

I finished off the inside of the card by stamping another of the sentiments with the same ink and adding a strip of the patterned paper I used on the front.

There's this great "handmade by" stamp in the Crafty Friends stamp set that I used to stamp on the back of the card, and I stamped the flap of the envelope with another image from the set and that was it!

I am so excited to finally have the Gemini machines, I do SO much die cutting (it's rare now that I even make one card that doesn't have at least one die cut on it) that these machines should be super helpful! I still love my Big Shot machine (it's a great machine and still works fabulous) but I know the Gemini cuts intricate dies even better and when I was choosing between the electric Big Shot or the Gemini I decided to go with the Gemini (mostly at the time because the electric Big Shot wasn't available - they're back on the market now of course (eye roll) after Sizzix improved the motors and whatnot).
