SSS Sketch Ranunculas & Dancing Fruit | Clean Color Real Brush Markers | CTD453

Yay for Friday!! I couldn't resist making a second card for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge (you can see the first one I made HERE <------click!):

I was so totally inspired by this card I saw by Yana <-----click! that I had to do my own take on it. Simon Says Stamp's Sketch Ranunculus stamp set is one of my favourites - so combining it with the new Dancing Fruit set was a brilliant idea and I just had to try it out. 

This card ended up coming together fairly quickly as I had all the masks ready from making other cards. I always save my masks (unless they're wrecked in the process or get so covered in ink that it starts seeping through) and put them on the stamp backing sheet so that I'll have them ready whenever I used that particular set again.

I stamped all the images onto Bristol Smooth card stock with SSS Intense Black ink, then colored them in with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a water brush. I splattered that with some Copic Opaque White, then after everything was dry I die cut it with the SSS Wonky Rectangles wafer dies. 

The pack of Rainbow Sparkle Mix Jewels that I got recently were perfect for this card - and I added a bunch of them LOL!

The card base was made from some SSS Bright Yellow card stock (and it really is BRIGHT yellow - love it!) and I stamped a sentiment from the SSS Thoughtful Messages stamp set and the lemon again to finish it off.

Ellen Hutson Crafty Lady Card Set | Tombow Markers | Paper Piecing

Hello hello everyone! I finally got a chance to ink up the new Ellen Hutson Crafty Lady stamps that were in their latest release - and ended up making 4 cards in the process:

I combined the Crafty Lady stamp set with the new Crafty Ladies Say stamp set and just had a blast making all these cards.

I stamped the images onto Bristol Smooth card stock with Hero Arts Intense Black ink then colored them in with my Tombow markers and a water brush.

From left to right the colors I used were:

Lady 1:

912, 969, 772

Lady 2:

899, N15, 725

Lady 3:

977, 743, N55

Lady 4:

990, 992, 723, 025

and 528 and 603 for the pants and shoes.

All their shirts and cardigans were paper pieced with 2 different MFT paper packs (linked below) and I added some shading to the pieces with a W3 Copic marker.

All the card fronts were die cut from white card stock with the largest die in the MFT Blueprints 2 Die-namics set, and all the vellum was die cut with the largest die in the BP 1 Die-namics set. I then stamped the backgrounds with Distress Oxide inks in colors that matched their shirts (other than the yellow one - I had to go with the cardigan on that one b/c there isn't a light purple Distress Oxide ink available yet).

I finished off all the insides of the cards by stamping the Crafty Lady with the same Distress Oxide inks then stamping the coordinating sentiments and that was it!

SSS Summertime Animals Take 4 | Gansai Tambi Watercolors

Hey everyone! As is the story of my life - I'm playing catch up with this week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

Here's what I came up with:

I pulled out an older Simon Says Stamp set - Summertime Animals - and combined it with the new Dancing Fruits stamp set.

I stamped all the images onto hot press watercolour paper (which has a really smooth finish. Like I mention in the video a person could use Bristol Smooth card stock and achieve probably the same results since I didn't go heavy on the water on this) with SSS Intense Black ink then watercolored them in with my Gansai Tambi watercolours and a water brush.

I HAD to add little google eyes to all the flamingos - they were begging for them LOL!

To finish off the inside of the card I stamped the solid pineapple image from the Dancing Fruits set with different Distress Oxide inks (the Fossilized Amber is a slightly darker yellow than I'd like - I cannot wait till Squeezed Lemonade is available as a Distress Oxide!!) and that was it!

Honey Bee Stamps Wish You Were Here | Clean Color Real Brush Markers

Hey everyone! I have another card and video for y'all using some of the new goodies from Honey Bee Stamps (and stay tuned as I will have a Release & Review video on their latest release coming ASAP showing all the new goodies):

I created a fun mermaid scene (which I discovered along the way I was totally channeling Nichol's card HERE - it was definitely stuck in my subconscious) using the new Ocean Bliss stamp set along with the Ocean Borders set and the Sunburst A2 Cover Plate and Partly Cloudy Honey Cuts Dies.

I stamped the mermaid onto Bristol Smooth card stock with Hero Arts Intense Black Ink then watercolored her in with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a water brush. After I finished putting the card front together I used Diamond Stickles and dabbed them over the mermaid and the waves and clouds for some added bling.

I finished off the inside of the card by stamping the Ocean Borders stamp along the bottom, masking it then stamping the mermaid image with a lighter ink, then stamping the sentiment and that was it!

Pretty Pink Posh Bear Hugs | Mission Gold Watercolor

Hello everyone! I have another card and video for y'all using another of the new Pretty Pink Posh stamp sets, and this time I pulled out my Mission Gold watercolours to color them in.

This is a 4-Bar size card (3.5" x 4 7/8")

I stamped the bears and other small images from the PPP Bear Hugs stamp set onto Canson XL watercolour paper - my idea being to create a patterned paper sort of look.

I ended up watercoloring the background with a blue color and it made it look like the bears are floating in a pool LOL! I'm OK with that - it is summer after all.

The sentiment was stamped and embossed onto black card stock with white embossing powder then cut out with the coordinating die. I cut a slit along the bears arm with one of my Penblades and inserted the flag before adhering it down.

For the inside of the card I stamped and watercolored and die cut one of the bears and added another sentiment flag and that was it!

SSS Dancing Fruits | Distress Oxide Inks | CTD452

Hello everyone! This week's Color Throwdown challenge is a fun one:

Check out what the rest of the team created with these colors here <-----click! and play along if you'd like! All the info about participating is on the CTD blog.

Here's what I came up with:

I pulled out the new SSS Dancing Fruits stamp set, and after masking and stamping the outline images on Distress watercolour paper I decided to watercolour them with Distress Oxide inks.

The background was also created with Distress Oxide ink - I smushed it onto a transparency then sprayed it with water before pressing it all over the smooth side of a piece of Distress watercolour paper.

After I finished the card I decided to add some shiny details using my Clear Pico Embellisher - it's similar to Glossy Accents except that it's a much thinner (aka more "watery") consistency. So you won't get the really raised and glossy effect like you do with Glossy Accents - but it dries a lot faster which I really like.

I finished off the inside of the card by stamping the fruit images with the same Distress Oxide inks that I used to color in the images and that was it!

Honey Bee Stamps Zen Ocean | Masculine Cards

Happy Monday everyone! I wanted to share these cards I made with the new Honey Bee Stamps Zen Ocean set:

This set is HUGE - the large image will take up most of A2 card. I have so many ideas for this image - one could do similar cards to the ones I made HERE using the Zen Bouquet stamp set. 

I used a variety of embossing powders to create these cards, stamping them onto navy card stock bases. The sentiments are from the new Mermaid Song stamp set and I stamped and embossed those with white embossing powder.

For this card I used WOW Shimmering Pearl embossing powder - it has a pearl-like finish and a bit of glitter in it - so gorgeous in real life!

For the other three cards I used different metallic embossing powders - from left to right I used Wow Gold Rich Pale, Nuvo Classic Silver and Ranger Liquid Platinum.

For the splatter I used my FineTec Iridescent watercolours - just for some shimmer and texture.

I finished off the insides of all the cards with another sentiment from the Mermaid Song stamp set that I heat embossed with white embossing powder, then stamped the large Zen Ocean image with VersaMark ink and that was it!

SSS You + Me | August 2017 Card Kit | Distress Oxide Ink

Happy Saturday!

I got some time during the little's nap time to make a card using items from the latest SSS Card Kit (check out my unboxing video of it here if you missed it):

I am really liking this kit as I think the stamp set and all the items are PERFECT for masculine cards! I especially like the stamp set - it has so many options for so many occasions.

I used the Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink pad that comes in the kit to create this fun splatter on the Ivory card stock behind the sentiment. I also cut all my layers with the SSS Stitched Rectangles wafer dies - I love using those to just add a little extra somethin' somethin' to an otherwise simple(r) card.

On the inside of the card I stamped the large border stamp with the Cracked Pistachio ink then stamped the sentiment and heart with the same Intense Black ink and that was it!

Honey Bee Stamps Under the Sea Blog Hop

Hello everyone! I'm participating in yet another awesome blog hop this week - this time to celebrate the NEW release at Honey Bee Stamps!

Here's the card I created:

I decided to create a one layer card using some Arches cold press watercolour paper along with the new Mermaid Song stamp set and watercolour it in.

I used the Daniel Smith watercolour dot charts and Nuvo water brushes to do all the watercoloring, then once they were dry I stamped this large sentiment from the Mermaid Song set and embossed it with Nuvo Gold Enchantment embossing powder. This EP has little bits of gold glitter in it which catch the light - SO pretty in real life!

I also added a little bit of glitter to the main image by lightly dabbing some Diamond Stickles onto it.

I stamped another sentiment onto the inside of the card along with some shells from the Mermaid Song set, watercolored those as well and that was it!

Pretty Pink Posh July Product Release Blog Hop!

Hello everyone!! I'm SO excited to be hopping along with a bunch of other fabulous designers to celebrate Pretty Pink Posh's latest release! You can check out all the new goodies HERE <-----click!

I had the hardest time deciding what to make for my post - so many cute images to choose from. I decided I needed to ink up the new Summer Friends set and make a couple cards with it right off the bat though as PPP's little people images just get me:

I stamped all the images from the Summer Friends stamp set onto Neenah 80lb Solar White card stock with Hero Arts Intense Black ink and coloured them all in with (a bunch of) Copics.

I used the coordinating die set to die cut all the images, and also stamped, coloured and die cut the sun from the Fly a Kite set. I also added little dots and highlights and whatnot with my white gel pen. It's amazing how much that adds!

I used Bristol Smooth card stock to create my card bases, and used the largest PPP Stitched Diamonds die - turning it sideways before die cutting the front of each card.

After doing that I sponged on 3 different colors of Distress Oxide ink to create my "beach scene" and sprayed it with water to get the fun splatter look.

I adhered the die cut piece to the inside of the card, and then glued on a couple of the die cut images to finish off the scenes I created before stamping the sentiments and (of course) adding some sequins from the new Sunny Days Sequins mix.

SSS Thanks a Melon | Copics | Color Throwdown #451

Hello everyone!! 

I'm the hostess for this week's Color Throwdown challenge:

Here's what I came up with:

I used Simon Says Stamp's new Artsy Fruits stamp set to create my own patterned paper with their newest ink colors along with a couple others. I then had to add some splatter (of course) with my Black Soot Distress ink and a paintbrush.

My little watermelon character is from SSS's Funny Food stamp set. He got stamped with SSS Intense Black ink then coloured in with Copic markers then I dolled him up a little with a white gel pen and my Pilot Envelope Addressing pen.

The sentiment was die cut from black and white card stocks with the Script Thanks die set, then to "complete" the sentiment I embossed part of the companion sentiment from the Funny Food set onto the vellum tag with Wow Primary Ebony embossing powder.

I finished off the inside of the card with another stamped and coloured in watermelon character and the full sentiment from the Funny Food set and that was it!
