Thanks Card | SSS Thankful Heart Card Kit

Oh Monday...... :P the weather here is cold and yucky and I've been surrounded by the noise of construction all day. However it's warm inside, the littles had a nap (I'm saying "had" as I can hear them right now so I need to get this post typed up ASAP! LOL) and I have a card and video to share with y'all!

I used items from the Simon Says Stamp Nov 2016 Card Kit that I showed y'all the unboxing of the other day. I REALLY like the embossing folder that came in the kit so I had to use it first thing to make a card with it!

This was a pretty quick and easy card - I let the embossing and patterned paper take centre stage and honestly if I were to recreate it it would probably take less than 10 minutes (always great for y'all to know - though it never is that fast when I'm mulling things over and playing around with it all in the effort to make it the first time).

I used a sanding block on the raised edges created by the embossing folder to bring out more white from the core of the patterned paper and to make it all stand out a little more. 

I LOVE the Thankful Heart stamp set that comes in this kit - Kristina Werner's handwriting is beyond fabulous.

SSS Costumed Pets | Copics | AmyR 2016 Halloween Series #15

 I hope you all had a great weekend! I swear they fly by way too quickly - but then the weekdays seem to do the same thing - I really need more hours in the day.

Anywho - I was sitting down the other day to make a card, and had a completely different idea in mind, but started playing around with this SSS Costumed Pets stamp set and ended up creating this:

This was definitely one of those times where everything just came together and I had this adorable card as the end result!

I stamped the mummy puppy onto Neenah Solar White 110lb card stock with SSS Intense black ink and coloured it in with Copics.

I LOVE how the background turned out - using the micropore tape on the grey card stock was great on it's own - but when I added the Doodlebug Spiders washi tape it just pushed it over the edge LOL!

I also finally got a chance to use the Cobwebs embossing folder - which I am KICKING myself for not pulling out sooner! It is so fabulous - and when I rubbed the Picket Fence Distress Crayon over it made it even more fabulous.

I had stamped and coloured another mummy for the inside of the card, and I paired that with the trick or treat sentiment bubble from the set along with more Spiders washi tape and that was it!

Simon Says Stamp Haul #45

Hey everyone! So here's the second haul I was referring to in my last post (it was a VERY good happy mail day when I got it all at once!! Overwhelming but the best kind LOL!) - so many awesome goodies. I'm still kicking myself over not ordering the PPP Halloween set (I added links to it so y'all can see what I mean and why I was wanting it!) - but of course the PO is so massively unpredictable. I am curios to see if future orders show up this quickly b/c that would be amazing (I have no patience - though really half the fun is placing the order, waiting for it to show up and then the "surprise" of getting it - LOL I've turned it into a whole experience).

Lawn Fawn Booyah | Repositionable Scenes | AmyR 2016 Halloween Series #14

Hello everyone!! I'm kind of excited to share today's project and video with y'all. It's been mulling in the back of my mind for a couple of weeks now and after some trial and error (and a really late night to get everything done and edited) here it is:

These are definitely not cards - I laminated everything with my little Xyron Creative Station Lite, and backed all the characters and images with repositionable adhesive so that they can be moved around to dress them up and create fun little Halloween scenes!

These were SO fun to make - and once I figured out the adhesive part (I explain in the video - basically I pulled the laminate off the back of the stamped images and replaced it with the repositionable adhesive) they're actually pretty easy to make too!

I used Distress Inks to create the backgrounds - which were then die cut with the Lawn Fawn Leafy Tree Backdrop dies - both Portrait and Landscape. I used black card stock with the same dies to create the silhouette for the "scenes" before using the sponged distress pieces to inlay in the black card stock die cut. I then run everything through the Xyron with the Double-sided Laminate cartridge (I wish I'd got one of these machines years ago - SO many things I could have made with it).

All the images were stamped onto Bristol smooth card stock with SSS Intense Black ink then coloured in with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a water brush.

I hope you guys enjoyed today's project! I'm running out of time to create Halloween-themed projects but it's been SO fun (and I'll have at least one more - maybe squeeze in a couple on top of that!). MFT Geometric Greenery | Gansai Tambi Watercolor | Color Throwdown #414

Hello everyone! It's time for another Color Throwdown challenge!

Here's what I came up with:

I took the inspiration pic literally as usual - though honestly I've been wanting to use the MFT Geometric Greenery stamp set ever since I got it. So once I looked at this challenge I KNEW exactly what I was using LOL!

I did a bunch of messy watercoloring with my Gansai Tambi watercolours, and paired that with the Wonky Stitched Rectangles STAX Die-namics, and made all the sentiments with the new sentiment Die-namics sets from MFT.

Must splatter all the things ;).

Reverse Confetti Treat Yo' Self | AmyR 2016 Halloween Card Series #13

Hello everyone! It feels like Monday - but since yesterday was a holiday for Thanksgiving there was no school and now it's Tuesday and feels like Monday LOL!

I got some time to make cards yesterday - and started off with these 2 fun ones:

I used Reverse Confetti's Treat Yo' Self stamp set, their Halloween Bits Confetti Cuts Dies (LOVE the ghost die in that set!) and their Confetti Cuts Web Tag Layers dies to make these 2 quick and easy cards.

I used some Doodlebug Eerie Eyes to add some character to these die cuts - and can't stop smiling every time I look at them! I really hope these become a permanent part of the Doodlebug collection or that they at least keep releasing them b/c they have to be one of the best accessories ever!

I used my little Xyron X Sticker Maker to add the adhesive to the back of the bats in order to be able to properly adhere the vellum spiderweb tag into place and not have to worry about any adhesive showing through it.

I also used the Sticker Maker to run the vellum ghost through so that I could adhere it to the inside of the first card, and for the remaining bats and that was it!

SSS Ghostly Greetings | Distress Ink Watercolor | AmyR 2016 Halloween Card Series #12

Hello everyone! Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians - the munchkins and I just got back from Thanksgiving dinner at my moms with my family and I am STUFFED :). I just got home and got the kids in bed and can finally get this post edited and uploaded for y'all!

I used Simon Says Stamp's Ghostly Greetings stamp set and decided to make 2 cards instead of one since I had the space on the watercolour paper for 2 of each character!

I used Distress Inks to watercolour them all in, and used the Wilted Violet Distress ink to splatter over the Memory Box stencil to create the background.

I really struggled when making these cards b/c I had THE hardest time deciding which Doodlebug Boos & Brews patterned paper to use. No joke I just couldn't make up my mind and ended up having to walk away from these for a bit b/c it was driving me crazy LOL! I finally settled on these ones - I'll have to make some more cards with these papers ASAP!

I went a little overboard with the sequins and the Nuvo Crystal Drops - what can I say I was having fun LOL! 

I also did some stamp surgery so that I could use just the word "greetings" from the ghostly greetings sentiment - a person could mask off the "ghostly" but it would be time consuming and I would just rather split them apart to give me more options. ;)

I added my last remaining watercolour characters to the inside and stamped more images/sentiments from the set and that was it!

Cleary Besotted Best Halloween | Color Throwdown #413 | AmyR 2016 Halloween Card Series #11

Finally! I think it took 3 (or was it 4?) attempts to get this video uploaded - it's been one issue after another and I've FINALLY got it all to work.

And because of all the issues (and a crazier-than-usual last couple weeks) my post for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge is beyond late - blah!

Anywho - check out their post HERE for all the inspiration from the rest of the team - and play along if you can! It's a fun way to stretch your creativity - I look forward to this challenge every week (if I could only do the smart thing and work ahead on them......).

Here's what I cam up with for this week's challenge:

I had to throw that little bit of yellow in there b/c candy corn - I couldn't not include them! This Clearly Besotted stamp set is so adorable I don't have words. As of me typing this it's sold out at SSS (as far as I know they're the only store that will be re-stocking CB products - I discussed that HERE in my last haul post) - but it should be back soon I hope! It's such a cute set.

I used Canson XL watercolour paper as my base for the background and to stamp all the images on to. I then used my Mission Gold watercolours to create the background and to color in said images. Some foam tape helped create a bunch of dimension and some Pretty Pink Posh sequins finished it off!

I finished off the inside with some escaping balloons and a stamped sentiment and that was it!

My Favorite Things Oct 2016 Release Haul & Review!

Hello everyone! As I'm typing up this post (MUCH later than I planned BTW - it was a rather crazy day) it's snowing - and not nice fat winter flakes either. Ugly slushy windy grossness is about the only way to categorize it - apparently this is supposed to be one for the record books. All I'm hoping is it warms up and we still get to enjoy some fall weather b/c I'm not ready for winter!

September 2016 Happy Mail Haul | Cards from YOU!

I can't believe how quickly September flew by! I'm barely processing that we're into October already and now the weather forecast for here is snow starting tonight - THAT I'm not ready for (literally - we need to go through all our winter gear tonight again and make sure the kids haven't outgrown anything. I did that before we moved but it's crazy how much kids can grow in just over 3 months....that plus it was summer and I wasn't ready to even think snow let alone prepare for it LOL).

Anywho - I received an amazing amount of cards in my PO Box last month. It's so fun to get these in the mail, and I really appreciate the kind words and letters you guys send! It's crazy for me to see what effect my card-making videos and blog have and to hear from people all over the world is crazy! :)
