SSS You Matter | Faux Metal Die Cuts

Depending on when you're reading this - Happy Halloween!! :) :) :)

While my Halloween series for 2016 is officially ended - I'm looking forward to focusing on Christmas/Holiday/Whatever cards now LOL! 

Starting with these cards:

I got some new-to-me embossing powder and metallic watercolours in my last haul - and got a LOT of requests to use/review them ASAP! I used both on these cards and talk a bit about my thoughts on them in the video :).

I coated the SSS Cottage Stem die cuts with Versamark ink and heat embossed them with the Nuvo Gold Enchantment embossing powder, and did it twice to create "faux metal" embellishments.

I created a watercolour background with some black Mission Gold watercolour paint, then once it was dry I splattered a custom mix of gold metallic watercolour from the Prima Metallic palette.

I stacked the "you" die cut 3 layers high, and stamped and embossed the coordinating sentiment with detail white embossing powder.

I finished off the inside by stamping sentiments from the You Matter stamp set and that was it!

Hey everyone! I hope you all are having a great weekend so far. I have to be honest and admit that I don't think October was the most productive month for me. I have been feeling really burnt out and the creative energy just hasn't been quite the same. HOWEVER the month is nearly over, I'm wrapping up the Halloween series (I think it's done I just haven't called it 'till the day of LOL) and will start concentrating on Christmas and Holiday cards!

It's been a crazy month anyway - a lot on my plate (more than the usual "single mom of 4 kids" stuff) and it took a bit of a toll. Not to complain - just sharing how it is (I get a lot of random "advice" - biggest one being a lot of people telling me to take a break b/c "card making is always there!" - for those not aware THIS is my full-time job. It literally pays the bills and puts food on the table! Hence no breaks for this lady - which I'm OK with. I'm more than thankful I have this job - couldn't imagine anything else).

Anywho - there's a little random tidbit/life update (I've been getting a lot of requests for that - sorry it's been so long! The "full plate" and life itself has got in the way of that all these months - will address that hopefully soon!) - before getting to the good stuff:

Hauls! More than one in this video - I took advantage of a sale, had a gift card to use and was able to start getting some stuff for Christmas cards. Plus some other random goodies I'd been wanting and of course totally random things that just happen to jump in the cart (am I the only one that gets in an order sometimes and looks at some of the things with NO memory of why I ordered it?).

SSS Critter Costume Party | Distress Ink Watercolor | AmyR 2016 Halloween Card Series #18

I'm really starting to push it now but I can't help it LOL! Another Halloween card (and stay tuned to the end of the post for some SALE info).

This was a fun card to make - I combined 3 different SSS stamp sets to make it (Critter Costume Party, Autumn Greetings and Ghostly Greetings) as well as some patterned paper from Doodlebug's Boos & Brews pack.

I watercolored in the image with Distress inks, then after the card was put together I added just a little bit of Crystal Stickles to the costume and to the web and spiders.

I show in the video how I attached the ribbon to the card - I didn't want to wrap it around the patterned paper so by cutting slits with a craft knife I was able to push it through and tie it in a bow.

I finished off the inside with some more stamping and some patterned paper strips and that was it!

SSS Autumn Blessings | Distress Ink Blending | Color Throwdown #416

Hey all - I'm late as usual to the Color Throwdown challenge :P. I had the card and video done ahead of time (shocker LOL) but the voiceover had to wait as I was too tired to form a coherent thought let alone string enough words together to explain what I was doing ;).

Anywho - first off here's what we were working with this week

Here's what I made:

I used Simon Says Stamp You Matter Background stamp and heat embossed it with detail white embossing powder onto some Neenah Desert Storm card stock.

The flowers are from the SSS Oh Happy Day stamp set and I head embossed those as well - this time onto Distress watercolour paper. I sponged 3 different Distress inks over them then trimmed them out with scissors (would have been faster with the coordinating die set! I linked to that below).

I kept the inside of the card simple by just adding the 3 remaining flowers and that was it!

Reverse Confetti Best Witches | Prismacolor Pencils | AmyR 2016 Halloween Card Series #17

Hard to believe October is nearly over and Halloween is almost here! I have a couple more cards to share with y'all for Halloween - I haven't yet put all the Halloween supplies away yet!

I was inspired by this card by Sandy Allnock - so I had to pull out my Prismacolor pencils and color on black card stock and here's the cards I made:

These are 4 Bar sized cards.

I used Reverse Confetti's Best Witches stamp set and stamped the images onto black card stock with Hero Arts Unicorn White pigment ink. I heat set the ink (you either need to heat set it or set it aside to dry for some time b/c pigment inks take a lot more time to dry than dye inks) then used my Prismacolor pencils to color them in.

Side note - as of typing this the full 150 set of Prismacolors are on a HUGE sale at Amazon (for less than $100US - which is like 70+% off!) HERE <------click! *please note that the price changes depending when you are reading this post.

I added some highlights to the coloured in images with my white gel pen, then die cut them all with their coordinating dies.

I decided to keep the cards simple so I just embossed rather than cut the Reverse Confetti Web Tag Layers Die onto the front of each card before stamping the sentiment in the same ink and adhering the images with dimensionals.

I kept the insides of the cards simple and that was it!

Lawn Fawn Jump For Joy | Shaker Cards | Clean Color Real Brush Markers

Happy Saturday!! Apologies if my voiceover sounds "off" - I generally work late in the evenings after the kids are in bed and did this one at 1am so I was just a little tired LOL!

I had the idea for these cards for some time - and they took WAY longer than I planned (life!) - but once they were done I couldn't wait to share them with y'all!

Y'all know I adore Lawn Fawn products (and collect them rather than use them half the time LOL) - I've had this Jump For Joy stamp set practically on display (so I wouldn't forget about it) since I bought it. It's SO cute.

I stamped all the images onto hot press watercolour paper with SSS Intense Black ink and used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to watercolour them all in. 

I paired that with the Leafy Tree Backdrop Lawn Cuts to make them into shaker cards using a bunch of sequins from Doodlebug.

The background is patterned paper from Doodlebug's Flea Market 6x6 pack - which the colours from that pack inspired all the colours for these cards.

I used sentiments from the Jump For Joy stamp set to finish off the inside and stamped the solid leaves from the set in a variety of Memento Inks (Rich Cocoa, Morocco, Dandelion, Bamboo Leaves, and Tangelo).

Simon Says Stamp Believe In the Season Release

Simon Says Stamp's latest release just went live - and I don't even have words to describe how fabulous it is! Check it out HERE <-----click! So many gorgeous stamps and dies and inks! I haven't had a chance to make a list of my favourites (though it might be all of them LOL) but if any of you want me to do up individual links to something like that let me know! And let me know what YOUR favourites from this release are! 

I will have cards coming ASAP using some of these new amazing goodies (and need to order so much more!!) - like I've said in previous posts everything is a bit nuts for me right now!! ;) :P

I FINALLY got the video for these cards edited and wanted to get it uploaded ASAP!

I wanted to use this The Greeting Farm Scaredy Cats stamp set before Halloween is here! Since I couldn't decide on which image to use I used all of them, and made 4 cards.

These first 2 were popped up on action wobbles - I show in the video how they look. I linked to the original full size wobbles (that I used here) in the supplies but I also added a link to the newer smaller ones. I can't wait till my pack gets here - I ordered them recently and think I should have ordered 2 packs LOL!

The last 2 I popped up with foam tape. I added Doodlebug Eerie Eyes enamel dots to all of them - LOVE the goofy look it gave them. Of course I paired it all with Doodlebug Boos & Brews paper, DB Spiders Washi Tape and some Doodle Twine to finish it all off.

I finished off the inside of all the cards with some more washi tape, a stamped sentiment from the set, and inked up the stars from the set in colours that matched the patterned papers.

MFT PI Milk & Cookies | Copics & Paper Piecing | Color Throwdown Challenge #415

Heeeyyyy everyone! I'm running so far behind this week it's insane - a ton of extra things on my plate and life is just not cooperating :P. Anywho - this week's Color Throwdown Challenge is a good one:

Here's what I came up with:

I pulled out MFT's Pure Innocence Milk & Cookies stamp set that just came out, and paired it with a couple other new MFT Die-namics set and stencil.

I used Copics to color in the image, then used some neutral grey Copics to add shading to the paper-pieced chair (FYI in case you missed my earlier post SSS is having a SALE on Copics - check out my post with the code and info HERE <----click!).

I used Old Paper Distress Ink to sponge over MFT's Moroccan Lattice stencil to create my background, and just happened to have some enamel dots in my stash that were the same/similar color to use as flower centres - LOVE when that happens (and it justifies me hoarding them.....).

I kept the inside of the card simple and just stamped the image with the same Old Paper Distress Ink then added the second sentiment and that was it!

MFT Cooler with You Card Kit Available NOW!

Hey everyone! Just a heads up that MFT's Cooler with You Card Kit is AVAILABLE NOW <-----click!

MFT's kits are packed with stamps and dies and all the card stock and whatnot so you can make a TON with one of their kits. They're at a heftier price than most card making kits on the market - but worth it - usually a good percentage off the price of ordering the items individually (which they do at a later date from each kit.
