The new SSS October Card Kit is here!! As always here's my unboxing video - and I'll hopefully have some cards and videos using these goodies coming ASAP!! :)
I get asked a lot about where to purchase the supplies I use in my videos and blog posts. I list all the supplies I use at the end of my posts (below) or in the description box directly below my video on YouTube. If the product images have sets of letters below the image it means there's more than one place it can be purchased. SSS = Simon Says Stamp, AZ = Amazon, MFT = My Favourite Things, SnS = Scrap N Stamp (Canada) etc. Compensated affiliate links used when possible at no extra cost to you. Affiliate linking is what keeps my blog and YouTube channel up and running and enables me to work from home with my kids! I appreciate your support more than words can say!
Items marked with an asterisk (*) have been sent by a store/manufacturer (with no obligation on my part to use/review - I only use and share what I personally love). Everything else I purchase myself!
Hey everyone! I'm back with another card for my AmyR 2016 Halloween Card Series!
This time I decided to make something interactive - which I don't do very often (I explain why in the video) but I had this idea for this card brewing for a little while now and am SO happy with how it turned out:
Isn't this the cutest thing ever? I had SO much fun making this card - and while I went a little overboard on the amount of supplies used (so much for my clean and simple intentions) it was actually pretty easy to make!
I used Copics to color in this Pure Innocence Mummy image after I'd die cut some Neenah 110lb Classic Crest Solar White card stock and stamped the image with SSS Intense Black ink.
The background was created with some heat embossed stars and a ton of ink blending with my Distress inks.
I used the new(er) Slider Channel Builder Die-namics that I'd bought a couple months ago - I thought that would be perfect to not only enable the mummy to "walk" along the card but gave me a spot to add a surprise sentiment as well.
I kept the inside fairly simple since I went all out on the outside of the card - just a bit of the same patterned papers and stamped the image with MFT's Wild Wisteria dye ink, added a sentiment and that was it!

This is what I came up with:
I've been meaning to use this Cool Cat set from MFT for ages now (and it's another one of those sets that has been super popular and sold out all the time) - it is just the most adorable set!
I used Copics to color in the images - keeping everything fairly simple (and SO glad I did b/c I made this while the littles were napping and they ended up waking up way earlier than usual so I had just enough time to make this card).
For the background I used the Chunky Herringbone Stencil from MFT and held it directly on the card base and applied white embossing paste over it - such a quick and easy way to create a background that's simple yet has a lot of texture!
I coloured, die cut and then adhered a second cat that I'd coloured exactly like the 1st one to the inside of the card along with a stamped sentiment and that was it!

Well here my post is finally - and as I type this up I really hope that SSS will be able to restock this stamp set (and the dies!) b/c it is so adorable and I don't think anyone predicted it would sell out as insanely fast as it did!
I stamped the images from the set onto kraft card stock with SSS Intense black ink then used color pencils (I used Polychromos but you can use any brand you have - I linked to Prismacolor ones in the description) and Gamsol to blend the color out.
I added the highlights with Copic Opaque White (basically a SUPER white paint - it's my hands-down favourite white for adding highlights) which just pops on the kraft card stock!
I piled up all the acorns I'd coloured on the inside of the card and left the rest blank for space to write. I added the last acorn and heart to the very back of the card (you can see it in the pic of the colors used above) and that was it!

Oh September - excuse me STAMPtember - where we all hand over our pay checks to Simon Says Stamp amiright?? LOL!
I will admit I placed this order BEFORE STAMPtember officially started on the 1st - however I did combine the insanely adorable Neat & Tangled collab set that was sent to me b/c it's SO cute. I will have a card video using it coming later on today - I'm editing the video now! ETA - I've added an annotation to the video and edited my links here to show that the Nuts About You set as of a few minutes ago has been released individually at SSS! Demand was insane for this so I am SO glad SSS was able to make this work so more people can get their hands on it! My video will be up later today using it (still running behind!!).

Hello everyone! I had some fun over the last couple of days playing with some of these new Lawn Fawn goodies I picked up not too long ago. Rather than make just one card I sat down and coloured multiple images and ended up making several cards:
I just love this Thanks a Bushel stamp set from Lawn Fawn! It's so perfect for this time of year!
I used Copic markers to color in all the apples, and had some fun mixing up the "type" of apples I had in the baskets.
4 of these cards I made into cards for teachers (always good to have on hand when one has kids in school) and the remaining one I made into a "just because' card.
I used the new LF Perfectly Plaid Fall 6x6 papers on all of the cards - another reason why I made several b/c I couldn't decide on just one paper to use so I used several different ones LOL!

It's Friday! YAY!! And on a personal note the construction going on was a LOT less noisy today (I had headaches this week from all the noise it was just chaos) - and the workers always leave early on Fridays so that makes me an even happier camper LOL!
SO - when I posted about the new MFT September release on Tuesday (was it only Tuesday? It feels like a lot more than a couple of days have gone by...) a lot of you said YES to me doing a haul/review video with the products I had on hand - so I filmed that for y'all and here it is:

I know a lot of you asked for me to do a MFT Sept Release "haul" video - and I promise I'll do one. Right now there's a ton of construction going on around here and it's noisy and chaotic (check out my Facebook page to see how I've been working around it to do voiceovers LOL - very Harry Potter-esque) so I need to find a time when it's not noisy as all heck to film one!
In the meantime like I said I found a way to be able to do voiceovers so I can still film card making videos - I'm using a new program for editing and it's got a HUGE learning curve so please bear with me as I get things figured out!
Anywho - back to the AmyR 2016 Halloween Card Video Series!
I finally pulled out my Tim Holtz Crazy Cats stamp set that I've been wanting to use for a long time now - it was PERFECT for Halloween cards LOL!
I used my Mijello Mission Gold watercolours to color in the scene, and coated the pumpkin with orange Wink of Stella for some shimmer and added Glossy Accents to the cats eyes for a little extra somethin' somethin'.
I finished the inside with patterned paper from the same pack I used on the front of the card and added another sentiment from the Crazy Talk set and that was it!

Hey everyone! It's time for another Color Throwdown Challenge!
Head HERE <----click! to see what the rest of the team created plus all the info if you'd like to play along (it's open to everyone!) is in there as well!
This was what I came up with:
I used the brand new Bold Blooms set from MFT for these cards, as well as the new Single Stitch Line Rectangle Frames Die-namics.
I stamped the images onto Canson XL watercolour paper with several MFT Dye inks then sprayed them with water. I have a video linked at the end of the video in this post showing the same technique using different stamps and different colors. SO fun, and it looks different every time!
I used MFT's Thanks & Hello Die-namics for the sentiments - stacking 3 layers for each of them before adhering them to my cards. I couldn't resist adding a bunch of sequins to them as well LOL!
I finished off the insides of the cards with the die cut frames and sentiments from the MFT Essential Sentiments set and that was it!

Hey everyone! I've had a lot of you asking if/when I'll be getting the new Lawn Fawn goodies - I did order some of their new release (I want it all!!) from Scrap N Stamp. I was excited to find out about them and that they're based in Canada (Vancouver to be exact), and not only did they get in the whole Lawn Fawn release but they carry My Favourite Things among a bunch of other goodies.
Hello everyone!!! I'm SO excited to be participating in Simon Says Stamp's STAMPtember® Blog Hop! If you didn't get here from Yana's blog I'll have a linked list of all the stops near the end of this post!
For those that aren't aware - STAMPtember® is a HUGE month-long event that Simon Says Stamp puts on. There's tons of new products released, along with a bunch of exclusive collaboration products between SSS and other stamp companies that come out throughout the month. There are giveaways too (info on a BIG one at the end of this post!). It's a lot of fun and it's just awesome to see everyone get excited about STAMPtember® and see all these companies getting together and supporting each other. I'm very honoured to be a part of it!
So - on to what I made. My original ideas I had brewing when I was contemplating projects for this post took on a mind of their own. I ended up using the Running With Your Heart stamp set and Abstract Triangles Background stamp to make cards that can double as art/inspiration/motivation pieces:
I stamped the larger images from the set onto Canson XL watercolour paper with SSS Clear Ink and embossed them with SSS Antique Gold Detail Embossing Powder.
I used my Mission Gold watercolours to create the backgrounds around the embossed images - I LOVE how the colors pooled and dried around the stamped images!
I am in LOVE with the new Abstract Triangles background - my original plan was to make cards focused on just that but I got sidetracked with these great images in the Running With Your Heart set LOL! After embossing those main images with the Antique Gold EP I started thinking how amazing the background stamp would look on black card stock with the same embossing powder - so that's what I did.
I popped both watercolour pieces onto their card bases with a bunch of foam tape, and added one more sentiment to the first card to finish it off.
I kept the insides of the cards really clean and simple and just stamped a sentiment each that I embossed with the same EP. Normally I line dark card stock card bases with white or lighter paper, but this time I wanted the black with the embossed sentiment. I would use a bright gel pen to write inside them so that the recipient will be able to read it.
