Simon Says Stamp Haul #38

Nothing like having hauls back to back LOL! I wasn't planning on ordering a second time right before I moved but I HAD to get my hands on some of those Nuvo Crystal drops, and some of the fridge bins so that I can better organize my stuff! I'm glad it showed up faster than expected too as I'm hearing the rumblings about Canada Post striking as early as this weekend so I assume there's going to be a huge delay in parcels and mail if they do go through with the strike :(.

Anywho - on a much happier note here is my rambling haul - forgive my rambles I filmed this late at night last night and my brain was in sleep mode it seems:

MFT Cheeky Monkey | Clean Color Real Brush Markers | Color Throwdown #399

Hey all! I'm TOTALLY behind with this as it was supposed to go up last night for today's Color Throwdown Challenge - I got my days mixed up (you know you spend too much time on the computer and the internet when you can't remember what day it is after going a few days without said computer and internet LOL!).

Anywho here's the challenge:

Here's what I came up with:

I pulled out MFT's Cheeky Monkey stamp set and my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to color them in.

I also show an alternative to using the MISTI to line up stamps with their coordinating dies (check out my Quick Tip video on that HERE if you missed it).

I couldn't resist adding splatter with my ink and then Copic Opaque white to the background - lately the mantra seems to be "splatter all the things"!

I finished off the inside of the card with a sentiment from the set and the second monkey I'd coloured along with the bunch of bananas and that was it!

Simon Says Stamp Haul #37

Hello everyone! I'm back to the land of the living after getting the internet hooked up at the new place! The move was chaotic and total craziness but the kids and I are doing great and are almost completely unpacked (I can't live out of boxes and in disorganized chaos - I just can't do it so I've been unpacking and organizing like crazy the past couple of days).

SO - like I mention in the video I changed over my address and all that with everything already - and on a whim checked the mail the day we moved and lo and behold one of my SSS orders had arrived! So call it a housewarming gift from me to me LOL

MFT Warm & Fuzzy Friends | Polychromos Colored Pencils

If you missed my previous video where I unboxed my Polychromos pencils and do a first impression with them click HERE <---click!

Now for the card made with them:

I pulled out the MFT Warm & Fuzzy Friends card kit (it's their only kit that's still got some stock left - all their other kits have sold out thus far!) as I thought these images would be PERFECT for the look I wanted to achieve.

I stamped all the images onto Kraft card stock with MFT's Black Licorice hybrid ink then coloured them in with the Polychromos. You don't specifically "need" these pencils (I feel like I did LOL) - any coloured pencils will work really.

I finished off the inside of the card by adhering a leftover piece of the striped patterned paper and adding the remaining coloured images and that was it!

I hope y'all have a fabulous weekend! I have a LOT going on this weekend (the kids and I are moving!) and will be without internet (other than my phone) for a couple of days but I'll be sure to update y'all once I'm settled and hooked up at the new place. We're all super excited but there's still a LOT to be done - it's insane. And of course creativity struck at the most random of moments and I just went with it and then uploaded this video b/c packing is such a pain LOL. ;)

First Impressions | Faber Castell Polychromos Colored Pencils

This video was a long time coming - like I mention in said video I got these around Christmas time and have been too swamped to share this video. I uploaded it over a month ago and am just now getting to sharing it with y'all now! :P

SSS Sketch Ranunculus Take 2 | Distress Ink Blending

Hello everyone! I have another card for you for this week's Color Throwdown challenge - I loved this combo so much I HAD to make a second card.

Here's my second take on it:

I heat embossed the images from the SSS Sketch Ranunculus stamp set onto some Tim Holtz Distress watercolour card stock, then sponged 4 different Distress Inks over it to create this embossed resist look.

It's SO hard to pick up in a picture (in the video you can see the sparkle a lot better) but I coated the die cut as well as all the images with my Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen. I wasn't originally going to but this week's challenge over at the SSS Wednesday Challenge Blog was to add shimmer so of course I was on board with that. No arm twisting needed here when it comes to additional shimmer ;).

I finished off the inside by stamping the images with the same Distress ink colors and that was it!

SSS Sketch Ranunculus | Clean Color Real Brush Markers | Color Throwdown #398

Hello again everyone! Post #2 from me for this evening!

This week's Color Throwdown challenge is SO bright and pretty. Totally perfect for summer and just all around bright and cheerful! I am loving it.

Since I felt the need to make something bright I pulled out some of my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers (that's a lot to type and a mouthful to say every time - I think these things need a snappy nickname...):

Heck yes bright and cheerful! These colors just make me happy :) :) :)

I used Simon Says Stamp Sketch Ranunculus stamp set and only this stamp set for this card. I have been itching to ink up this set for weeks now and this challenge and these colors were just perfect for it IMO!

I white heat embossed the images then watercolored them in with the markers. The colors just pop - seriously these markers are so vibrant and fun - I have zero regrets getting them and am starting to think I need to get the rest of the colors I don't have.....

Mama Elephant Space Bears | Loew Cornell Watercolors

Well I didn't let the second watercolored galaxy background I'd created the other day collect dust. I had the idea to use it with the Mama Elephant Space Bears stamp set (that I've been wanting to use for SO long and always keep putting off!) - so I did that today and here's the result:

Every once in a while a card will turn out either as good as I've imagined it or better - and this was one of those times! Having the background already done made this a much quicker card to create and everything just came together on this one.

It totally helps though when you're working with cute images like this. I HAD to buy this Space Bears set when it came out - no real reason other than space bears - so random and yet so totally adorable. MUST OWN. Just looking at them makes me smile - hence them hopping into my cart and then sitting in my studio for the last couple of months LOL!

Of course I finished off the inside of the card with the remaining watercolored images from the set along with another stamped sentiment and called it a day. Or rather I rushed to get the video edited (you'll hear a lot of random noises in the background and Gavin pipes up a few times in it too - he was playing in here while I was editing and being SO good so I let him do his thing while I did mine LOL!), then started the upload (which took all afternoon - my internet here is slower than molasses).

First Attempt Watercolor Galaxy | SSS Stacked Stars | Shaker Card

Hello everyone! I hope y'all had a great weekend!

I had a chance to "play" the other day and since I had my watercolours sitting out from making this card I decided it was high time to attempt to make a galaxy background with watercolours. I've seen SO many people make them for cards, as well as a ton on YouTube by watercolour artists and they always turn out looking so amazing.

My first attempt was at least passable enough to make into a card LOL! Like I mention in the video - these Loew Cornell watercolors have a very chalky consistency (hence the price being so low). While that's fine for a lot of things it can be a pain to deal with when creating something like this with a lot of layers. I found as I was handling it and die cutting it it was rubbing off onto my hands. That didn't bother me at all as I wasn't surprised, but I am pointing it out here for those that have the same type of watercolours and might wan't to try out techniques like this. One of these days I'm going to have to try out this technique with my nicer (aka more expensive/professional quality) watercolours as I assume not only will I get better (more vibrant) results but there won't be residue like this b/c they aren't full of fillers. 

I still love my cheap watercolours though - they're fun to play with and I get great results with them - so if you're on the fence about the whole watercoloring thing I recommend a set like this b/c it won't break the bank and you can do so much with it.

I ended up turning it into a shaker card because why not? I used them new SSS Stacked Stars die to cut the "window" through the galaxy background then inlaid the die cut from some black glitter card stock.

The sentiment is from the new Sine On stamp set - it was just too perfect for this card.

I used the die cute stars I had left over from die cutting the galaxy background and adhered them to the inside of the card to finish it off (or you could totally use those to make a second card - but y'all know me and my need to finish off the insides of my cards!).

SSS Tropical Leaves | Among the Stars Release Hop | Watercolor Stamping

I used the new Tropical Leaves stamp set and instead of inking up the stamps with ink I used my watercolours to paint the color on to each stamp before pressing it onto the watercolour paper. I stamped the layering images the same way and added a bunch of splatter to get the effect you see here :)

I added a sentiment from the new Uplifting Thoughts stamp set that I'd die cut with the Stitched Flags Dies and embossed with detail white embossing powder.

I finished off the inside of the card with another watercolour stamped leaf and a sentiment from the same set and that was it!

MFT Flop Card Circle DN + Jungle Friends + GIVEAWAY!

Simon Says Stamp Among the Stars Release

SOOOOO many great products just released at SSS tonight! 

I have a few of the new goodies here now and y'all will be seeing cards and videos using them over the next little bit. I've also got a few in my cart (trying to resist adding them all right this moment.....) and deciding on what to get now and what to get later LOL!

Loving the Summertime Animals set with coordinating dies. The bear is back! With polkadot shorts and a flamingo buddy - like is there even a question about getting it? NEED.

Which means the Flamingo Cling Background needs to go with it of course.

The Plush Ice Cream Cone Die needs to come to my house. I think my girls would love to stitch that one up.

I have the Uplifting Thoughts set here (love!) along with the Stacked Stars Die <-----so glad they made this one b/c I own and love the Stacked Hearts Die.
