Create a Smile Beach Party Kit Blog & Video Hop!

Hello everyone! While I'm still battling this head cold I'm excited to be participating in the Create A Smile Beach Party Kit Video Hop!

Here's the card I made with the kit:

I stamped the rhino and the cooler from the Beach Party stamp set onto watercolour paper with Versafine Onyx black ink then embossed them with clear embossing powder.

To color the images and the palm tree die cut I used my Sakura Koi Water Colors and a  water brush.

I fussy cut the stamped images and adhered them to my card with dimensionals after adhering all the other elements to the card with a mix of ATG and Tomboy Mono Multi adhesive (people always ask me why I choose certain adhesives - I don't even think about it I just grab and go!).

Make Yourself at Home | Distress Ink Watercolor | Color Throwdown #392

I have to keep reminding myself what day it is for only being Tuesday night (or reeeaalllyy early Wednesday morning depending what timezone you're in) I keep thinking it's later in the week!

I'm glad I checked my planner b/c having my days screwed up can screw up my schedule and I might have missed getting my card made for this week's Color Throwdown challenge:

Here's the card I came up with for it:

This is a 4Bar Size Card

I used the new Make Yourself at Home stamp set from MFT - I just LOVE the sentiments in this set - it gives you so many card options!

I stamped all the images onto Distress Watercolor card stock with Versafine Onyx Black ink then embossed them with clear embossing powder. I then used 3 different Distress inks to watercolour them in - super easy.

The background was created by sponging the Pumice Stone ink over the MFT Cascading Scallop stencil, just using heavier pressure near the centre of the card and lightening up as I pulled the ink outward.

I finished off the inside by stamping the inside with the loveseat using the Blueprint Sketch Distress ink, and stamped another of the sentiments in the set and that was it!

This post feels naked without a video doesn't it? I DID film one - just running so insanely behind so I'm not positive at the moment I'm typing this up if I'll get it edited and uploaded or not - but I will try!

ETA: My OCD won out, that plus I feel worse than when I did when I typed up this post, so I haven't made anything else to film and share so this will have to do!

SSSYou are My Favourite | Shaker Card

Happy Saturday everyone! FYI I have big Simon Says Stamp SALE info at the end of this post so be sure to check that out!

I used the new-to-me SSS Bokeh Lights stencil set for this card. SSS has a Wednesday Challenge blog and their most recent one posted is to use stencils. Once I had the idea brewing in the back of my mind I pulled out the new You are My Favourite die and decided to make a shaker card.

I did a bunch of sponging over the stencils with a few different colours of SSS dye inks, die cut the sentiment and used that as my shaker window.

I added a ton of sequins to the inside - if you wanted everything to really "shake" add less - I wanted the card to be fuller so that the sequins were behind all the letters.

I finished off the inside by sponging over the largest Bokeh Lights stencil and that was it!

No Line Watercolor with Negative Die Cuts | MFT Tree-mendous Die-namics | Mijello Mission Gold

It's Friday!! I'm glad I had some "old" footage in my files b/c I haven't had much time at all to make anything new - just one of those weeks.

I made this card a month or so ago - and then held on to it b/c the Tree-mendous Die-namics sold out ASAP. They're still sold out at MFT - SSS has them in stock. With both sites you can sign up to be notified via e-mail for products when they are re-stocked. I do that a lot and I find both stores re-stock pretty quickly.

Anywho - on to the card:

I used the Tremendous Die-namics - or rather I used the negative space from the die cuts - to create this no-line watercolour card. 

I outlined the trees with a washable pencil (the one I use I picked up at an art-supply store but I've linked to a set that is the same idea) then watercolored them in with my Mission Gold watercolours.

After I was done watercoloring I die cut the watercolour paper with the large die from MFT's Blueprints 25 Die-namics, then used my Mini MISTI to stamp a sentiment from the SSS Friendship Messages stamp set. I heat embossed the sentiment with white detail embossing powder, then stamped another sentiment from the set on the inside of the card:

SSS Cuddly Critters | Sakura Koi Water Colors

Hey everyone! It's been a long day and a crazy evening - but thankfully before anything went haywire I had this video edited and left it to upload over the afternoon.

I had the chance to play with the SSS Cuddly Critters stamp set and the coordinating Cuddly Critters Accessories - and as usual since I couldn't decide on which "critters" to use - I used them all:

I used my new-to-me Sakura Koi Water Colors for these cards - and this time made sure the video footage was in focus (though I still need to remember to check I'm actually in the frame - the amount of times I forget I'm filming and end up with useless footage b/c either my head is in the way or I'm totally off camera is ridiculous LOL).

I did one of the cards in a baby girl theme (I thought of keeping it gender neutral but the pink won out!), and the other in a birthday theme:

 

The remaining 2 critters went to the insides of each card:

MFT Pretty Posies | Dye Ink Watercolor | Color Throwdown #391

Hello everyone! This week yours truly is the host for the Color Throwdown challenge. You can check out the blog post on it and all the other DT member's cards HERE <-----click!

I pulled out some brand spankin' new MFT stamps and dies to make my card - their new release just went live a couple of hours ago (more on that at the end of the post) and I had the hardest time deciding on what to use first LOL!

I decided to go with the new Pretty Posies set b/c y'all know I'm usually heavily influenced by the inspiration pic (side note is that bouquet not gorgeous?) - but I'll be posting with some of the other stamps (hint hint unicorns!!!) and dies from the release ASAP!

Since I can't seem to not watercolour with everything lately I went with that on this card - this time using several of MFT's dye inks to achieve this look.

I used the new Absolutely Fabulous Die-namics to create my sentiment, and adhered everything to the new Diagonal Sentiment Strip Cover-Up Die-namics die cut that I backed with craft foam.

Annnddd I added a bunch of sequins. Surprised? wink

I added the last little watercolored flower and leaves to the inside of the card and decided to leave off stamping any other sentiments. A card like this can be used for pretty much any occasion (Mother's Day, Birthday, Thank You, Just Because...) so leaving one off the inside just means it can be used for whatever the occasion calls for IMO.

I am still shaking my head that it's May already! I say it every month but I look back and wonder where the previous month went?! 

Anywho - some fabulous cards arrived in the mail last month. It's always so much fun to get these little surprises in the mail - always makes my day!

MFT Sweet Succulents | Watercolor with Distress Inks

Happy Monday (said in a slightly sarcastic voice) - hoping by saying it it will become a more happy Monday LOL! The power of positive thinking and all that.

Anywho before I get sidetracked on a rant - I have a card and video for y'all. Some of you may remember it from the MFT blog when I guested for them a couple months ago, but some of you might have missed it so here it is:

I used MFT's Sweet Succulents stamp set and watercolored in the main image with Distress inks. 

I have to admit this "style" of card isn't something I do very often - if ever - and yet as it came together I really like it! I need to do more like this - SO many images in my stash would work well for it (mentally adds to my already lengthy to-do list...... LOL).

Of course the card isn't complete until there's something on the inside.
