MFT Happy Card | Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers | Color Throwdown Challenge #386

Hey everyone! This week's Color Throwdown Challenge is fabulous - I love these 2 colors together and add in white and it can't be more perfect.

I was inspired by the bedding in this pic (loving it!) when I made my card:

I did some stamping and embossing with MFT's Abstract Background stamp and watercolored it in with 2 different Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers (yup only 2 markers).

Since I wanted the background to be the focus on this card I kept everything else to a minimum - die cut sentiment, embossed sentiment and then a few PPP Iridescent Star Confetti Sequins.

Simon Says Stamp | Plush Happy Sunshine Card

I have to apologize for this pic - I was struggling with my lighting as usual! And LOL at the sequin overload - I lost my mind there and it looks like a jar of sequins threw up on this card!!

I am just loving all these SSS Plush dies - it's been a nice change of pace to create with them. I HAD to make a card with this sunshine one after I came across the Hello Sunshine Frame Die in my stash.

I also HAVE to get a refill for my Y15 Copic marker :P - it's almost completely dried out (not bad for having it for almost 10 years now). I'm kicking myself for not grabbing a different marker but when I have those few minutes to make a card I tend to just make whatever work (and in this case it was just pure laziness as my markers are right there LOL).

Pretty Pink Posh Haul! Video

I think y'all know I love me some sequins! I have also been eyeing up Pretty Pink Posh's dies and stamp sets ever since she started releasing them so I am BEYOND excited to finally have some to play with!

Distress Crayons & Embossing Paste | Thanks Card

I've been getting SO many requests to show more with the new Ranger Distress Crayons. As I mention in the video this was actually one of the first times I used them - but I ended up posting this card and video earlier (since it needed to go up before Easter!), and now here's this one:

I played around with mixing the crayons with white embossing paste. While I'm happy with the results I will say that if you're looking for SUPER vibrant results with embossing paste you won't get it with these. Then again I've seen some absolutely amazing creations people have made using paste or heat embossing then applying the crayons direct to paper over it - now that is fabulous. I'm just not big on the whole mixed media thing - and I'm struggling with these crayons a bit honestly. As I mention in the video the jury is still out for me whether these are must-haves....

I don't show in the video how I stamped and coloured the flowers - I'll have that in a video coming soon. This one was a "scrap" that I didn't want to throw out so I was able to die cut and salvage it and use it on a card!

MFT Beautiful Blooms Card Trio

Hello everyone! So I'm interrupting my own "routine" I have going on here lately - which has been all things watercolour LOL - for some straight up stamping:

I FINALLY got a chance to play with MFT's Beautiful Blooms stamp set and Die-namics - these were released back in January in their very first card kit. The kit sold out in record time, and I've had it all sitting here ever since it arrived b/c I didn't want to post a bunch with it when it wasn't available!

It was SO hard to capture the shine on the vases (I swear some days my camera and lighting just doesn't want to work with me).

My idea with these was to make them look like all the pieces were attached with the mini clothespin - but my OCD won out and I still adhered all the pieces together LOL!

I went nuts with all things gold on these - it started with the mini clothespins, then I added the gold glitter die cut frames - and by that point I couldn't stop!

I to make a set of three with these - as I say in the video it's like everything was just meant to be in a set of 3 ;).

Tim Holtz Fresh Brewed Blueprints | Mission Gold Watercolor | AmyR Coffee Card Series #4

Hello all! I've been cranking out the videos like crazy this week (what can I say - when the inspiration strikes and I'm up late at night I tend to get a lot more done) - and I have another one for y'all.

This week's Color Throwdown challenge was fabulous:

Anywho - I took the inspiration literally again and made a coffee-theme card for my coffee card series (links to the other ones thus far are at the end of the post):

I am still playing with my Mission Gold watercolours and did some experimenting on this card - I explain in the video that I wanted it to look like the color was thrown at it - in somewhat organized chaos (like my life.....LOL!).

I cannot tell y'all how much I LOVE the SSS Antique Gold embossing powder (though if memory serves me right I gushed about it the last time I'd used it). It is THE prettiest shade of gold - more of a "neutral" gold if there is such a thing - not yellow or pink.

I heat embossed the image with that embossing powder then "slapped" all the watercolour on to it. Again if you missed my unboxing/review of the Mission Gold watercolour you can see that HERE. I am really loving them.

SSS Spring has Sprung | Mission Gold Watercolor | AmyR Spring & Easter Series #10

Hello everyone! I posted a First Impressions video late last night of my new Mission Gold Watercolor set - if you haven't seen that post you can check it out here:

Now here's the first card I made with it:

I used one of the pre-printed watercolour panels from Simon Says Stamp - I have so many favourites in the set and the size of them is really good for experimenting with watercolour on!

I added some Pretty Pink Posh clear droplets in 2 sizes and adhered with with Multi Medium Matte adhesive - they were perfect for an image like this.

I have this card sitting on my desk right now - which is perfect as we got a bunch of snow yesterday and today so it's rather nice to have some bright and cheerful flowers to look at while outside it's cold and gloomy and snowy!!

Mijello Mission Gold Watercolor | First Impression/Unboxing

Art Impressions Bunny & Ducky Mini Cards| Clean Color Markers | AmyR Spring & Easter Card Series #9

I feel like I'm racing against time here! With Easter being so early I haven't had the chance to make nearly as many cards as I'd hoped - but I'm still making them and sharing them with y'all regardless. The nice thing about having this blog and YouTube is that the inspiration can always be saved for next year and later ;) ;).

These are 4 Bar Size Cards (3 1/2" by 4 7/8")

I showed this little Art Impressions Bunny & Ducky Mini Set in a haul some time ago - and FINALLY got a chance to use them on a card. I couldn't decide between them so I made 2 more simple cards with them.

I pulled out my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers (what a mouthful - even to type LOL!) and watercolored them in. I used Strathmore 140b Cold Press watercolour paper and am REALLY happy with how these markers worked on it. I was having difficulty before when I would color directly onto the paper with the marker then try to "pull" the color out with a water brush and the color didn't want to move and I had a bunch of harsh lines. I had a feeling at the time it was the paper I was using and I was right. If anything these markers want to MOVE - I show in the video and mention how the color will just go everywhere if you're not careful LOL!

LOL I get a total kick out of these images - they're just so cute - and I love having the "backs" for the inside of the card (y'all know how I like to finish the insides). I'm pretty sure my munchkins will get a kick out of them too when I give them these!

May Arts & Graphic 45 Blog Hop

Hello everyone! May Arts is collaborating with Graphic 45 this week and doing a series of posts throughout the week - make sure to check out their respective blogs as there will be chances to WIN!

I stepped WAY out of my box today to make my card - I love the look of Graphic 45 but the vintage/shabby chic look is something I struggle with (I see other people's creations that just nail the shabby chic look and I just can't seem to wrap my head around it) but love the look of. So here's my "take" on a vintage-style card:

I stamped one of the flowers from MFT's Grand Peaceful Wildflowers stamp set onto one of the patterned papers from the G45 Children's Hour patterned paper pack with Versamark ink and embossed it with Ranger's Liquid Platinum embossing powder.

I chose that powder as I thought it went well with the finish of the G45 Ornate Metal Key that I'd tied on to the chipboard tag with some May Arts ribbon and string.

I stamped a sentiment (that I cut apart - the word "Always" was in it but it made it too long to fit on the tag so I cut it off) onto the tag with MFT's Steel Grey Hybrid Ink, then added the MA sheer polkadot ribbon and tied on the key with some MA Ivory string.

I die cut the word Happy several times and glued them together before adhering it to the card. The May Arts velvet ric rac I attached to the card with my Tiny Attacher.

I finished off the inside by stamping the flower again with ink that coordinated with the card stock, and stamped the remaining part of the sentiment with the Steel Grey ink, then I added a couple strips of the G45 patterned paper and that was it!

SSS Quick & Easy Easter Card | Pattern Swatches | AmyR Spring & Easter Series #8

Hey everyone! I'm back with a couple of quick and easy Easter cards:

This is a 4-Bar sized card (3 1/2 x 4 7/8").

Cute, quick and easy - not much else to say LOL!

I used Simon Says Stamp Pattern Swatches set and Memento Inks to create all the patterns then die cut with the SSS Springtime Shapes Die set.

I finished off the inside with stamped sentiments (I was going to stamp them in black b/c it's a total habit - but stamped them using the same inks as I used for the front - I much prefer this as I think black would have been too harsh).

Simon Says Stamp | My Kind of Peep | AmyR Spring & Easter 2016 Series #7

Hi guys! I am SUPER excited to share this card with y'all. I totally missed out on the Simon Says Stamp March Kit (long story) and was kicking myself b/c it sold out and I missed out on it. Well a fabulous subscriber sent me HER kit so that I could play with it - and I still don't have words. It was so beyond fun to get it in the mail - it literally arrived the day before yesterday! 

I pulled it out ASAP and made this card and got the video uploaded to share with y'all. I'm hoping to get another card or two made with it before next weekend as Easter is coming up fast.

I also used the new Distress Crayons b/c they're sitting here since I got them and loads of y'all have been asking me about them.

I used the Distress Crayons to watercolour the background over the embossed peeps, and to color in the peeps themselves.

SO hard to capture the shimmer I added to the main peeps with the Wink of Stella, and the peeps background embossed with iridescent clear EP - in the video I was able to capture it better.

Simon Says Stamp | April 2016 Card Kit | Simple Birthday Card

Hey everyone! I have a really quick and easy card to share with y'all using the NEW Simon Says Stamp April Card Kit - and other than the inks and basic supplies (adhesives etc) all I used were elements from the kit:

I can't wait to get some more time to play with this kit - the stickers and plastic tabs included in it aren't something I would normally get for myself - but having them in this kit with a coordinating set and the papers and whatnot makes them way more fun!

The kit also includes my old nemesis - black embossing powder (ultra fine no less!). LOL! I made it work on this card - and explain in the video where I messed up with it (you can see it in this pic too) - totally my fault and I KNEW it would happen as I was doing it (gotta love 2am crafting).

I flubbed up a bit on the inside too but fixed that and showed it in the video - it was just one of those days (or nights).

SSS Spring Flowers | Distress Ink Watercolor | AmyR Spring & Easter Card Series #6

I'm back! I posted a haul video earlier and now it's time to share my card for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge:

I loved the colors for this week's challenge (honestly I love them every week - it gets me to think outside my norm for color selection plus it takes away a big part of the planning when the colors are already chosen for me LOL!).

Here's what I came up with:

It's been rather gloomy here weather-wise lately (and it can't make up it's mind - we had a couple of BEAUTIFUL warm sunny days then super windy, then overcast and rainy with a bunch of snow to top it off - all in the span of 3-4 days) so these bright flowers just make me happy.

I pulled out the new Spring Flowers set from Simon Says Stamp along with their new Choose Happy set (that I'd made the rainbow coffee cards with the other day) and some Distress Inks.

I gotta say that new Candied Apple Distress Ink is a fabulous red - like RED red. It's just perfect.

SO hard to capture any of the Wink of Stella shimmer in a photo - in the video I can show it a lot better - it's definitely one of those things where pics/video don't do it justice and then you see it in real life and THEN you get what the fuss is about LOL!
