MFT Roses All Over | Distress Ink Watercolor | AmyR Valentine Series #11

Ahhhhhh I have to keep reminding myself it's Friday and not Saturday! My older kids don't have school today so the slight change in schedule has thrown me off. While said kids were at school yesterday I had the rare opportunity to spend some extra time crafting as I got both littles napping at the same time - so I made 2 cards instead of one because I couldn't make up my mind on which color scheme to go for - so I did both:

I used MFT's Roses All Over background stamp (linked in the supplies below) and heat embossed it onto Tim Holtz Distress watercolour card stock with white embossing powder. 

This is one of my FAVOURITE ways to watercolor - the emboss resist gives such a cool look - and anyone can drop colors onto paper - no fancy painting techniques or skills needed - if I can do it anyone can LOL!

The first card I made I did in more "traditional" Valentine colors - and my favourite Distress combo (Festive Berries, Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar).

For my second card I went with a rainbow color scheme - I always LOVE how it looks like so many colors were used when in reality I only used 3 (Festive Berries, Squeezed Lemonade, Salty Ocean). A card like this is what I would deem more "masculine" than the other one - with this series I've been trying to make more cards to fit that theme as it's something I get asked for often!

As I rave in the video - the Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Mix Sequins are big favourites of mine. When I was finally able to get my hands on them I got 2 packs and I keep them on my desk in a little bowl - I don't even bother putting them away LOL. They're sold out everywhere as of this moment (they sell out fast so when you find them in stock get them!) but I do know that Paulina is working on restocking her store and the retailers as I'm typing this so keep your eyes peeled ;) ;).

I used my MISTI to stamp the sentiments on the inside of the card. I've had a lot of people asking me if I'll be ordering the new Mini MISTI that was revealed at CHA (it's on pre-order right now and ships out in March). I haven't made up my mind yet on that one. I want it of course - I just don't like having to wait over a month! I'm sure I'll cave once it's actually available to order...

Avery Elle Viking Card | Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers | AmyR Valentine Series #10

Hey hey everyone! I can't believe it's only Wednesday (well by the time I'm done typing and editing this post it will more than likely be Thursday as it is laaaattte here) - it feels like it's been a long week.

Anywho - I FINALLY got a chance to use my Avery Elle Viking stamp - I've had SO many requests for this one and I've been dying to ink it up:

This is a 4-Bar (3.4x4 7/8") Sized Note Card

Is he not the cutest thing ever? I am actually wishing there was a wood mount version of this stamp b/c I'd love to have it on display in my studio. I don't know what it is but this guy just makes me giggle LOL!

It was really hard to pick up the shimmer I added with the Wink of Stella clear to his hat and to the hearts. I didn't want to go overboard with the sparkle as this is definitely a more masculine card - but I couldn't resist adding just that little bit - in real life it's just perfect.

Another thing I've had a lot of people asking me is if it were possible to remove the sentiment from the image - as it is all one stamp. You totally can cut it out - and if you did it carefully you could still use it with the image as it's meant to be or as a separate sentiment on your card. I show in the video how to mask it off with tape for a quick and easy fix.

Coffee Love Card | Color Throwdown Challenge 377 | AmyR Valentine Series #9

Hey everyone! I have another card for my final guest spot with the Color Throwdown Challenge blog - I had SO much fun this month with their challenges! If you haven't checked them out or played along you definitely should - they post a new challenge every week and there's a TON of inspiration from the team to go with it!

Here was this week's challenge:

I could have gone so many ways with this challenge - I love the color combo, but I also end up getting inspired by the picture as well - I had some ideas for it but instead went coffee-themed because coffee!

Of course the Memory Box stencil I used is no longer available :P - but I linked to some alternative stamps that would work too.

I finally used my SSS Coffee Cup die that I had got forever ago, along with the new-to-me Hero Arts Need Caffeine set that I'd gushed about in a more recent haul video - the sentiment and the hearts in the die made this fit perfectly into my Valentine series without screaming Valentine! LOL!

I finished off the inside of the card with a couple of stamped images from the Need Caffeine set and that was it!

SSS Be Mine Valentine Card | AmyR's 2016 Valentine Series #8

Hey everyone! This is actually my second post for today - if you missed the earlier one for the Stampendous/May Arts blog hop be sure to scroll down and check it out.

The end of January is almost here - I feel like this month has FLOWN by. Between the kids and all the cards/videos/etc I've been doing lately it was a really busy month - really good but really busy! I'm feeling like I'm running out of time for Valentine's cards - even though it's still 3 weeks away. That plus a lot of the cards I've been sharing this time around haven't been specifically "Valentine"-themed. I thought it would be more fun to mix things up and make cards that are less lovey/hearts/pink and red and more masculine/fun/could be for friends too!

Anywho - after saying that here's a very Valentine-y card LOL:

I used the preprinted watercolour notes that Suzy did for SSS (link in the supplies) - her doodles are so adorable. I ended up using 2 of them for this card - one on the outside and one inside because why not?

Stampendous & May Arts Blog Hop

Hey everyone! I'm participating in a blog hop that's going on with Stampendous and May Arts and it lasts all week! My post is only for today, and I'll link to the others hopping today as well, but make sure to check in to all the posts during the week on all the blogs for inspiration and prizes!! :)

I used Stampendous Cling Sketchy Blooms stamp for my card(s) - this stamp is GORGEOUS:

I ended up making 2 cards because the piece of watercolour paper I was working with was large enough to stamp the image twice so I thought why not? I get asked a lot if I make multiples of my cards and honestly most of the time I don't. Generally it's a time-thing even though I know it's easier to make more of one of the same card in one sitting than it is to make all different ones with different supplies. It's just a habit I've gotten into to only make one at a time!

I stamped the image with Versamark ink and embossed it with detail white embossing powder before watercoloring it in with Distress inks.

I used 2 different May Arts ribbons on this card - a wide pink gingham that I wrapped around and this pretty crochet lace I tied in a bow.

I finished off the inside by stamping the flower image in the same dye ink as the card stock base, then stamping a sentiment from another Stampendous set and that was it!

MFT Straight To My Heart Card | AmyR's 2016 Valentine Series #7

Hello everyone!

It only took about half a dozen cards to finally be posting a more "traditional" Valentine card LOL! This one has hearts! And red, black and white card stock! Silver too - which for me was a little different because for the last couple of years I've been all about the gold. I reach for gold over silver ALL the time, and actually have to make an effort to use silver now. Don't get me wrong I think silver is pretty - and I love me some silver sparkle - I just prefer gold (and if more paper crafting companies can get on the rose gold trend (there are a couple of things out there with it - not near enough IMO) that'd be wonderful - I'd love to get my hands on some rose gold glitter enamel dots - just sayin').

Anywho - today's card doesn't use a single stamp either - the whole thing is made up of die cuts:

Lots of foam tape went into the making of this card. Like I say in the video - if I'm not doing any stamping/coloring/detail work I tend to want to add dimension and interest in other ways - so foam tape, metallic string, texture with the silver glitter card stock is where it's at!

SSS I See You Card | Color Throwdown 376 | AmyR 2016 Valentine Series #6

Hello hello everyone! This month is flying by and I'm already at my third post for my guest spot with the Color Throwdown Challenge blog!

I wanted to make more than one card for this one - maybe just maybe I'll get a chance to - but for now I have this one:

A card like this is so out of my "comfort zone" - and yet soooo fun to make. I had a general idea in my head of what I wanted to do, then just sat down and started to create. I filmed the process (then had to heavily edit as there was a TON of footage LOL. I made a mess when making this card - I had stuff everywhere) so the video for it will be below.

I have to admit the glasses are my favourite part of the card - with those I was really just experimenting and playing around and they ended up how you see them here. SO fun!!

Of course I had to finish off the inside - and I fell in love with how the aqua embossing powder looks on the kraft card stock! More ideas are rolling with that.....

Simon Says Samp Haul #22 Video

Hello everyone! It's been a crazy day, but I had a few minutes to get this post edited and uploaded for y'all. I had to take advantage of the sale on Ranger products SSS had last month, and I of course already had a bunch of the new Doodlebug goodies on my wish list and they just happened to jump into my cart before I checked out (no idea how that always happens..... *wink*).

As I was editing the video I couldn't stop laughing - Katelyn was SO excited about all the new goodies - she's so much like me it's scary some days LOL!

CardMaker Valentine Blog Hop | May Arts Ribbon | 2016 Valentine Series #5

Hello everyone! I'm not sure if I officially announced it here on my blog (some days Social Media tends to get away from me), but I'm on the May Arts Design Team for 2016. Those that have been following me for a few years may remember my fondness (and large collection) of ribbon, and lately I've been reaching for it again to use on my cards - so this was a rather fitting position for me!

To kick it off we're doing a Valentine Blog Hop with CardMaker Magazine and The Ribbon Resource - there's a TON of inspiration going on here so make sure to check out all the stops on the hop (plus there's a giveaway at the Ribbon Resource blog at the end!) - I'll have links to all the stops on the hop here at the end of my post.

Of course I needed to make a card with ribbon - but why stop at one I may as well use 4 eh? ;)

I think my very first ever May Arts ribbon purchase was this 3/8" sheer with polka dots - I love it and own full spools of every color.

This ribbon is perfect for cards - it's the perfect width, and thin enough that even with this much and all the bows I have still been able to pop it in an envelope and mail it without paying extra postage (with one like this with all the bows and sequins I'd add an extra piece of card stock to protect the card front while mailing).

I finished off the inside with a sentiment from a Lawn Fawn stamp set and a bunch of stamped hearts in ink colors that matched the ribbons on the front of the card and that was it!

Q&A with AmyR | Part 1 of 3 | January 2016

OK folks here's the first of my Question & Answer videos. If y'all remember I did a giveaway last month and had people ask questions for me to answer as I've had a lot of these questions asked over the last few weeks/months so I got them all in one spot, wrote them all down and answered them all!

Talking about the affiliate links in the beginning of the video - not all the links I use are affiliates - but the ones that are, as well as the small banner ads in my sidebar all help support me and my munchkins at no cost to you. When you watch the ads that roll before my YouTube videos, or click on the links/banner ads and then place an order I get a kickback (which varies - it's small but it ads up - the actual logistics of it all I'm a little fuzzy on LOL!). I have had a lot of people ask if I do my blog/You Tube full time (that's actually a question in one of the upcoming Q&A videos I think), and while I do put a LOT of time and effort into it (I spend more time at my computer with a huge cup of coffee that I need to give the computer a name I'm thinking - we're in that sort of relationship it seems LOL) - as of right now it's nowhere near enough to live on. It basically helps fund what I'm already doing here on my blog and on YouTube, and helps with some of my bills and whatnot.

I never used to talk about any of this on here as it was just not that big of a deal - it was something that went on behind the scenes that helped out here and there with random crafty purchases etc. Now with the major changes in my life and the fact that I'm a single mom of 4 I've decided to try giving this whole blogging/YouTube thing a HUGE effort (because with 2 of the 4 being several years away from being able to attend school it makes no sense to get a job outside of the home as I'd be paying more for child care than what I make - trust me I've run those numbers and they're depressing). We shall see where it all goes! 

I will say I have really been enjoying my crafty mojo coming back in full force, and creating and sharing so much more frequently with y'all here. My hope is to keep up this pace to a degree - though again to be honest with y'all it is a LOT of time and effort. We'll just have to wait and see how it all pans out over the next several weeks/months!

I can't end this post without saying THANK YOU to all of you for your support. I so very much appreciate y'all visiting me here in my little corner of the interwebs, and all the likes/thumbs up/comments/questions/support have been wonderful. I always say paper crafters make the best community of hobbyists - 99% of them are amazing (and we'll just not talk about the 1% LOL). I've really been enjoying all the interaction on here, on YouTube, my Facebook page and whatever other Social Media accounts I'm on (I forget some days - they're all linked under my profile picture at the top of the sidebar here on the right). SSS Texting Card | Quick, Clean and Simple | AmyR's 2016 Valentine Series #4

Hey guys. I'm back again with yet another video - this time for a really quick and simple card - honestly I don't know if I even needed to do a video for it - but I did and am sharing it with y'all anyway! I whipped this one up last night after I was texting friend - on my phone those that aren't fellow iPhone junkies (the horror! LOL) the texts show up green - so it totally inspired this card:

I used my MISTI tool for this - I don't show it a whole lot as it's a pricy piece of equipment (even moreso now apparently? I am so out of the loop with everything. I got mine a long time ago, it's since changed a bit and been improved, and I heard a smaller version was revealed at CHA but I don't know any specs on it other than it's smaller than the current one). I love mine and don't regret purchasing it in the least, I just tend to not show it on camera all that often for whatever reason!

Anywho I did some stamping and a bit of colouring and cutting and popping up with foam tape.

Ugh I'm sure someone will be able to tell me why my camera picks up on yellows so funny - I've noticed it before how it will appear so HARSH in the picture - when it looks nothing like that in real life! I didn't do any real blending with the Clean Color markers on the little emoticon images - but they don't look as bad as they're appearing here. I tried several times to get a better pic and then just gave up b/c I don't have time to keep fiddling LOL!

MFT Cheeky Monkey Card | Valentine Series #3 | Color Throwdown Challenge #375

Hey everyone! As promised I've been posting like crazy here in 2016 (I still can't believe we're almost halfway through January already!), I've got a 3rd card in my Valentine Series to share with y'all (I'll post links to the first 2 at the end of the post), and I combined it with this weeks Color Throwdown challenge as I'm guesting for them all this month! Yay for color!

So that was the challenge for this week - and I'll be honest - for a minute when I first looked at it I was TOTALLY lost. I sat for a few seconds though and the ideas started to roll and I ended up creating another (very) non-traditional Valentine card with these colors:

Monkeys and bananas - what else is there to say really? LOL I used a bunch of new MFT products on this card - and a ton of dies in general - y'all should have seen my desk when I was done ;).

I pulled out my new(er)-to-me Clean Color Real Brush markers to color in the monkeys and bananas - now that I've got the right card stock to use with the markers I am starting to really love these things! 

Lots of foam tape on this card too - to mail something like this I would more than likely use a padded envelope to prevent it from getting completely smushed in the mail.

Of course the inside wouldn't be complete without another monkey and bananas and a sentiment ;). They're just too cute for words.
