Bellariffic Friday Mar 27: Making a Card #114 Video

Hello everyone! This is card and video #2 in the past few hours - I posted another one last night so if you missed it you can scroll down or click here to check it out.

This week's Bellariffic Friday Challenge was a sketch:

And this is what I made:

I used Uptown Girl BUNNY and her DAFFODIL along with my Hopped Up sentiment set, and FINALLY got a chance to pull out and use some of these Doodlebug Easter Parade patterned papers that I had got some time ago.

I did a little paper piecing on her skirt and colored everything in with Copics.

Carrot for Your Thoughts: Making a Card #113 Video

 

4-Bar Sized Card

I took some time to play today while Katelyn was napping and the older 2 were at school. I was itching to use some of the new CCDesigns images along with my new Hopped Up sentiment set, and decided to use this cute little Carrot Love image.

I used my Gansai Tambo watercolors to color in the bunny and to create the wash for the background. I didn't bother including my failed background attempts in the video LOL. I really was "playing" around a bit and experimenting - but in the end kept it more simple with this background. It's definitely not the watercolor's fault it's the user *ahem* ;). I need more time to practice and fiddle!

MFT March Ingenious Inking Challenge: Mixed Media Madness

Hello everyone! This month's Ingenious Inking Challenge with MFT was for us to use the MFT Hybrid Inks with Mixed Media. Make sure to check out MFT's blog post for the links to all the other DT member's blog posts to see what they made!

I had some tumbled tiles that have been sitting in my stash for YEARS now - so I pulled them out along with some stamps and a couple different colors of Hybrid Ink and made a couple sets of stamped coasters:

The first set I made uses the Romantic Script background stamp with Chocolate Brown Hybrid ink and then I stamped images from the MPD Timeless stamp set on top with Black Licorice Hybrid Ink.

For my second set of tiles I used the Romantic Script background with Nightshift Blue Hybrid Ink then stamped the flowers from the LJD Grand Peaceful Wildflowers set in Black Licorice Hybrid Ink.

Sending You Smiles: Making a Card #112 Video

Happy Monday! :P LOL

I had a bit of "playtime" yesterday, and it was one of the few times that I had the card already planned out. Every once in a while ideas will pop in my head in the middle of the night (and it's usually ones related to my "to-do list" or bills to pay, chores to do etc etc) - so I always keep pen and paper by my bed to jot them down. This card popped in my head so I scribbled down all the info right down to the layout and stamps I wanted to use - which makes it a LOT easier to create when I DO find the time.

I've had this Mama Elephant Up and Away set for some time now and FINALLY got a chance to use it - is it not adorable? I've also been itching to use these new Simon Says Stamp dies and sentiment stamps after waiting for FOREVER for them to arrive (not their fault - there was some big issue at the border with Canadian customs that lasted for nearly a month - it was ridiculous). I LOVE these word dies - and I linked to a couple different combo options as they have different "sets" combined and all that.

I used Copics to color in the images, and just fussy cut out the images but there is a die set available for them. I coated the balloons with my Clear Wink of Stella (that my camera was actually able to pick up a bit of!) so they've got a bit of shimmer.

Bellariffic Friday Mar 20: Black & White

So this picture was the inspiration for this week's Bellariffic Friday challenge - I was stumped for a bit as to what to make. With the preggo brain going strong and a REAL need to nap most of the time (LOL) I have been really struggling with the card making!

But after a bit of thought this is what I came up with:

I was inspired by the black and white photo to make a black and white card. And looking at the Eiffel Tower in the background I thought my Uptown Girl MOLLY makes a DETOUR was rather fitting ;).

I stamped the image onto MFT Steel Grey card stock with VersaMark and embossed it with detail white embossing powder.

The ribbon is from my stash - I made a slit through the grey card stock with my craft knife to thread the ribbon through so that the bow wouldn't be hanging off the edge of the card.

The prima flowers, brads and clear baubles are all from my stash - I've had them for YEARS and no longer have source links for them (sorry!). It's been a long time since I've used anything like that on my cards!

I finished off the inside of the card by stamping the image again with a grey Memento ink, then stamping the sentiment that comes with it in black ink and that was it! :)

MFT March Die-namics Design Challenge: Cover-Up Craze

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't been posting much lately :(. I'm just past the 35 week mark with this pregnancy and finding the time and energy to make cards has been a struggle to say the least :P. But I DO have 2 cards to share with y'all as part of this month's MFT Die-namics Design Challenge for the Design Team.

This month we're focusing on MFT's Cover-Up Die-namics - make sure to check out MFT's blog post for links to all the other DT member's posts to see what they've chosen and made!

I had a hard time deciding on which Cover-Up to use - I have a lot of favourites. I finally decided to use the Floral Fusion Cover-Up - and made 2 cards with it:

 

To create this watercolor die cut I "smushed" several different MFT Dye ink pads onto a craft sheet, sprayed it with water then pressed watercolor paper into it. I dried it with my heat tool then did it again and again to get the splotchy look. Once I was happy with it I ran it through my die cut machine with the Floral Fusion Cover-Up.

I matted the die cut with In the Buff and Persimmon card stocks that I die cut with the Blueprints 1 and Blueprints 2 Die-namics dies that I always use for layering.

The sentiment is from the Birthday Chalkboard Greetings stamp set that I stamped with VersaMark onto MFT's vellum and embossed with white embossing powder.

I finished off the inside with another sentiment from the same set stamped in Persimmon ink, and the littler confetti-like embellishments were left-over pieces from the flower centers that I popped out from the die after cutting it out.

For my second card I just cut the Floral Fusion Cover-Up from white card stock - but to make the card "pop" I covered a piece of Persimmon card stock with an adhesive sheet and coated it with some iridescent glitter - making my own glitter card stock. I matted the die cut over that and used another sentiment from the same Birthday Chalkboard greetings set.

I stamped the Happy Birthday from the same set with Persimmon ink and that was it! :)

MFT March Creative Challenge: Stylin’ with Stencils + a Video

Hello everyone! This month's Creative Challenge with MFT is to create with their stencils - of which there are a LOT to choose from! Make sure to check out their blog post for all the links to the other DT members playing along to see what they've come up with.

My first card has a video to accompany it as I did something similar on my last MFT challenge post and had a lot of requests to show how I did this die cut in a video. I used a different one this time, plus used a stencil instead of stamping - but the "technique" is the same (it's really easy).

I used the new Circle Grid Stencil along with 6 different MFT dye inks to create the pattern for this card. Then it was just a matter of die-cutting the sentiment and adhering the bottom part with foam tape.

I finished off the inside by sponging over the stencil again with the same inks then stamping the word "birthday" from the Happy Everything stamp set.

I made a second card with the same inks since I had them all sitting out, but this time I mixed them with some white embossing paste and scraped them over the Scattered Bars Stencil.

 

I die cut the scribbles from some silver foil card stock and adhered the 2 larger ones before adhering the "happy" die cut from Black Licorice card stock.

On the inside I sponged the same ink colors over the Scattered Bars stencil just to tie it all together, and stamped another sentiment from the Happy Everything stamp set and that was it!

Making a card #110 Video: You're in my Favorites

Happy Friday everyone! Sorry it's been so quiet on here this week - I've still been struggling with this cold (almost 2 weeks now - I'm sick of being sick) along with Katelyn and have had NO energy for anything. I'm glad to say I'm FINALLY feeling better though and yesterday I was able to get a card and video done while K was down for her nap:

I had this idea for this card some time ago, so when I finally got some time to stamp this is what I made. It helped since I generally struggle a lot when I haven't stamped in a while trying to figure out what I'm going to make, but this one came together pretty close to what I'd been picturing in my head!

I used the new Roberto's Rascals Erica Texting stamp along with my new Teen Scene sentiments stamp set.

MFT Creative Construction with Blueprints: Wonky Panels

Hello everyone! I had mentioned in a previous post before the weekend that I was at the tail end of this nasty cold - I spoke too soon :P. It hung on all weekend and it was ROUGH. As of typing up this post I'm NOW finally starting to feel better - I've never had a cold for this long but being 8 months pregnant and chasing after kids who also all had it makes for a big germy mess.

ANYWHO - I am slowly attempting to get back into my card making groove and have another couple of cards to share with y'all for this month's MFT Creative Construction with Blueprints Challenge. This month we're focusing on the wonky shaped panels from the Blueprints 15 and Blueprints 18 sets.

For my first card I used one of the sketches MFT provides with the Blueprints 18 Die-namics, along with the new You Make My Tail Wag set. I've been wanting to use this sentiment and companion images since I saw the set - especially lately as I've felt more like the hydrant.... :P

I stamped the new Small Brick Background onto the Brick Red card stock with Sweet Tooth pigment ink and only pure white embossing powder on parts of it to give it a more distressed look. 

The colouring I kept super simple - just some Cool Grey Copics (C5, C3, C1, C00) and W10 for his nose.

I finished off the inside with the rest of the sentiment and stamped the hydrant with Brick Red dye ink.

For my second card I used dies from both the Blueprints 15 and Blueprints 18 sets along with the I Knead You stamp set.

I used the same Copics as the first card except I switched out the W10 for R20 to give this little guy a pink nose and pink ears ;).

I finished off the inside of this one with a sentiment from the I Knead You set and stamped the mouse along the bottom and that was it!

Making a Card #109 Video: Girls Night

UGH I am FINALLY at the tail end of this nasty cold - I've been sick all week and it's been rough. Poor Katelyn's had it as bad as me (thankfully my 2 older girls weathered it a lot better and got through it a lot faster than the 2 (3! ;) ;)) of us) and it hasn't been fun at all.

Of course though from all the coughing and sneezing my voice is all rough and scratchy now - I sound worse now than earlier in the week when I was REALLY sick :P but I'm actually feeling better.

Anywho yesterday while Katelyn was napping and the girls were at school I had a bit of time to play so I made a card using one of the new sets from the Simon Says Stamp Hop To It release, and pulled out my new (to me) Gansai Tambi watercolours to play with those too:

 

This is the new Slumber Party set - so cute eh? There's a set of dies to match and a combo with the stencil that I've linked to in the supplies along with everything else just because ;).

I heat embossed the images before watercoloring, and I explain in the video why I used black embossing powder instead of stamping in black pigment ink and embossing with clear (which is MUCH easier). However now that I'm typing this I should attempt this again with my ZING Black EP (which is what I've linked to in the supplies - I like the ZING EPs) because the black embossing powder I used I've had for a long time (they don't really go bad in my opinion) and it's just a poor quality powder so I wonder. I don't know why I grabbed that powder to use rather than the ZING - preggo brain I'll chalk it up to! It's a horrible powder though - I mention in the video how much I hate it LOL (and why I haven't thrown it out by now who knows :P).

Regardless of that I did OK with my first attempt at watercoloring with these new watercolors - I definitely need to practice and play some more (need more time for that!!) but it's not horrible! ;)

MFT March Release Rewind Day 1

Crazy to think we're well into the first week of March already eh? MFT's March release has been pretty popular from the looks of it, and now the Design Team is playing Release Rewind to get a chance to use some of these new goodies that we haven't had a chance to yet.

I'm STILL battling this nasty cold - it's lessened a bit but I'm still dragging and exhausted. Definitely a combination of pregnancy and sickness, and it doesn't help that the outside temps have been hitting close to -40 on top of it. My furnace is having a hard time keeping up - so I just feel COLD all the time. Blah!

Needless to say it's been interesting trying to create through the fog in my brain, but I got a couple of completely different cards made LOL!

To create the flowers and leaves I wet watercolour paper with clean water then dabbed on various MFT Dye Ink colors (smushing the ink pads onto an acrylic block then picking up the color with a wet paintbrush), dried it then die cut with the Circle Scribble Flowers Die-namics. So easy and will look different every time.

I used the new Scribbles Die-namics on top of the flowers - looks like they've sold out already at MFT but will be restocked soon I'm sure!

I finished off the inside with a sentiment from the Totally Happy stamp set and another watercolour die cut flower and Scribbles die cut and that was it!

This is a 4-Bar Sized Card

For my second card I used the new Pure Innocence Woof You stamp set and Die-namics.

For the background I used the Staggered Paw Prints stencil with white embossing paste. I coloured in the images with Copics and adhered them with foam tape.

I finished off the inside with the second stamped, coloured and die cut puppy from the set along with the second sentiment from the set and that was it!

NEW MFT March Products Available NOW!

All the new MFT March products are available now!! If you didn't come here from MFT's blog post make sure to check it out as there are links to all the other DT member's blog posts for the launch - and the more you comment the more you increase your chances to WIN (more on that at the end of this post).

I'm still struggling with this nasty head cold - but I managed to make 3 cards using the new Blueprints 23 Die-namics. LOVE the Blueprints sets - even in my foggy state of mind I was able to come up with some cards using elements from Blueprints 23:

I used one of the sketches MFT provides as a digital download with all the Blueprints - so having the layout planned all I needed was to choose my colors and stamps. I went with the new I Knead You stamp set b/c who can resist these cute kitty images?

I coloured them all with Copics and stamped the paw prints (those stamps are from the You Make My Tail Wag set) onto the Kraft card stock panel.

I finished off the inside with another kitty along with the speech bubble and a sentiment from the same set.

My second card was SUPER-quick and easy. Having two of the scalloped dies in the Blueprints 23 set I was able to die cut all these pieces in minutes, and then just staggered them from the bottom up as I adhered them to my card base.

You could do this in any color combo too - so fun.

I finished off the inside with another die cut piece and a sentiment from the Totally Happy stamp set (same set was used for the front of the card as well).

For my last card I used another sketch from the Blueprints 23 download, and created my own patterned paper with the Circle Scribble Flowers stamp set.

 

The first part of the sentiment is from the Totally Happy stamp set, the die cut happy is from this month's Free with $60 set - Happy Trio Die-namics.

I finished off the inside with a stamped sentiment from the Totally Happy set and stamped one of the Circle Scribble Flowers and leaves and that was it!

MFT March Release Countdown Day 1: Dog House

Hello everyone! All the MFT products for March that we've been teasing y'all with the past 5 days will be available in less than 24 hours! Make sure to check out MFT's blog post for all the info on this last sneak peek day plus links to all the other DT members blogs.

My card for today ended up a LOT simpler than I originally planned. I had all these fun ideas for these Die-namics then got hit with a nasty cold (of which I still have as of typing this), as did all 3 of my girls. So we've all been holed up at home being miserable together and hoping we get better ASAP. It's been rough :P.

Needless to say my creativity is pretty much non-existent - my brain feels like mush right now:

I used the new Dog House Die-namics which are SO cute, and added the strip of grass via the Fresh Cut Grass Die-namics that I just trimmed down to be shorter, and popped it all up on foam tape. The little stamped paw print on the sign is from the Birdie Brown You Make My Tail Wag set.

I finished off the inside with a stamped sentiment from the You Make My Tail Wag set and the die cut paw print is from the new Pet Accents Die-namics set.

I then called it a day, am typing up this post then crawling back in to bed and hoping me and the kids wake up feeling better!
