That's right - another new challenge for the MFT Design Team! For this first one we're showcasing how to use MFT's MIX-ables with their different inks. Make sure you check out their blog post here for info and links to all the other DT members blog posts. LOTS of inspiration to check out!!
I made 2 cards and show 3 ways how I used MFT's Sheer Shimmer mist with their dye inks - and yes this time I have a video to go with it (honestly sometimes it's just too much to do a video for everything - I wish I could but then I wouldn't get ANY sleep!).
For my first card I used the Shimmer Mist and dye inks to watercolour this embossed tulip from the Spring Tulips stamp set. I then created my own coloured shimmer mist with a Sno Cone dye ink refill and Sheer Shimmer mist (I purposely made it really pale so it's just got a hint of color - but a person can make them as pale or as vibrant as they want depending on the amount of ink you add. The sky's the limit).
In real life the shimmer is just GORGEOUS. It's a clean and simple card but the shimmer just makes it POP!
After the first card I decided to use the same supplies and create a different card with a different way to combine the mist with dye inks:
This time a sponged the dye inks over the Harlequin stencil blending them together, THEN sprayed the Sheer Shimmer mist over it. So I end up with a multicoloured shimmer background without needing to create several different shimmer mists (you wouldn't be able to achieve the blended and smooth look like this with mists anyway).
I watercolored the tulips the same way I did for the first card - this time just stamping the images onto their coordinating die cuts with Black Licorice hybrid ink then colouring them with the dye inks and Sheer Shimmer mist instead of water.
To see how I did both card check out my video below:
