Hello everyone! This month's Creative Challenge for the MFT Design Team was "Hop Into Action" - AKA create Easter-themed things! Make sure you check out MFT's blog post for links to all the other members playing along to see how they interpreted this and what they made!
I was in a floral mood - and I've had the new Spring Tulips set sitting on my desk and was still itching to use it - so I did - for both cards LOL!
I decided to do watercolour with MFT's dye inks and did it in a different way for each card - I've got a video below that you can check out as well.
For my first card I kept things clean and simple. I heat embossed the tulip line image with detail white embossing powder then watercoloured it with different MFT dye inks (Sour Apple, Green Room, Cotton Candy and Ripe Raspberry).
To achieve the soft background I simple sponged Sno Cone Dye ink with the mini ink blending tool around the edges that I'd taped off with painter's tape.
The sentiment is from the Easter Bunny stamp set, I stamped it with Black Licorice Hybrid ink then stamped the tulip image with Sour Apple ink to finish off the inside of the card.
For card #2 I used dye inks again but this time inking up the solid images from the set and spritzing them with water before stamping them onto the watercolour card stock.
This is one of those techniques that will look different every time you do it. You can experiment with different colors, different amounts of water and different types of card stock to see what works for you. I made a couple of "mistakes" that I explain in the video and how I could have fixed them, but I just went with the splotchy look in the end (mostly b/c I didn't have time to re-do any of it - my stamping/crafting time lately has been REALLY limited :P).
I finished off the inside with another stamped sentiment from the Easter Bunny set and stamped another tulip image and that was it!
