We're back with day 2 of 5 Days to an Organized Crafty Stash with MFT. If you missed yesterday's post which focused on stamp storage you can check it out HERE.
Make sure to check out MFT's blog post here for all the info and links to the other DT member's blog posts as there is a TON of great info - plus a giveaway!
Today we're all focusing on how we store our MFT Stencils.
Again I was glad for the opportunity to actually come up with a storage solution for my stencils - I've been tossing them all into a box and there was no labelling or organization whatsoever. I could somewhat dig through them to find what I wanted but didn't have any way to actually SEE what I had.
I started off with the labels MFT now provides on their blog in the printable resources section. I wasn't sure at first if I was actually going to NEED the labels, because all of MFT's stencils have the name etched on them along the bottom.
I also struggled with how I was going to store all my stencils. I have a LOT of stencils, but they don't take up much space (one reason I love them so much - they're thin and lightweight so they take up very little rom!).
My first idea was to put them in a box/container of some sort with dividers so I could flip through them easier, but I didn't have a container that would work on hand, and didn't want to come up with a TON of dividers for them.
I then remembered I have had this 6x6 SU album on hand for YEARS now, and with MFT's stencils being 6x6 or slightly smaller they'd fit perfect in the page protectors.
I cut down several sheets of 12x12 white card stock that I had on hand, so that I could put 2 stencils in each page protector, with the card stock separating them so I could easily see what stencil I'm looking for.
This is where the labels came in handy - I labelled each page protector with the matching label for each stencil - much easier to see than the name that's etched on the bottom.
Now I can just flip through the album to find the stencil I want to use - it's 1000x better than having them all thrown in a container LOL! This album is a little over-the-top and bulky in my opinion but it's what I had on hand, and down the road if I find something smaller/sleeker I'll transfer the stencils over to that - but this works great in the meantime!
MFT's got another giveaway going on for today - head on over to their blog to enter! Good luck! :)
