MFT September Creative Challenge: Halloween Home Decor

Hey everyone! This month's MFT Creative Challenge was for the team to come up with Halloween Home Decor ideas, and there are SO many gorgeous projects for y'all to check out. Go to MFT's blog post here for the links to all the other peeps playing along.

The first thing I thought of was a Halloween banner so that's what I went with:

I used a bunch of different MFT Die-namics along with the new Fine Check background stamp and MFT's card stock and felt.

This funny metal owl piece is on the wall in our entryway and the Halloween banner fit perfectly on it so that's where I'll be keeping it for the rest of the month ;).

I used the High Rise Alphabet for the letters, and the Accent It - Celebrate Die-namics for the Happy (hard to see here as it's black card stock - where I was originally going to hang this banner the wall color is lighter, but if I had a chance to re-do it I'd die cut the Happy from Orange Fizz card stock so it'd stand out more), and the Dripping Goo Edge Die-namics with the Grape Jelly card stock.

All the ghosts and bats and "boo" sentiment and tree are from the Spooky Scene Die-namics, and the orange doilies were die cut with the smaller of the dies in the Dainty Doily Duo Die-namics (say that 3x fast).

I used my Jumbo Beautiful Bow Die-namics and die cut some Grape Jelly felt to hide the loops I'd created to hang the banner - I show how I did that in the video:

Bellarific Friday Sept 26, 2014

 Hello everyone! I'd meant to film a video for this card but I got interrupted by the phone while working on it and the camera battery died - so I got about 2 minutes of footage LOL. I kept today's card pretty simple so y'all didn't miss out - the Bellarific Friday challenge from last week was this sketch:

I used my Stamping Bella Uptown Girl LILY loves LAUNDRY image, stamping her with my MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink and coloring her in with Copics.

I die cut the image with MFT's Stitched Cirlce STAX Die-namics (before coloring it in - otherwise I would have wasted a LOT of time coloring in all the parts that got cut off), and matted it with a die cut circle of bright pink card stock.

I finished off the inside by stamping the image again with Memento Angel Pink ink (my go-to favorite it seems when it comes to insides of cards - I swear this shade of pink matches everything), and the sentiment that comes with the stamp in the Black Licorice Hybrid and called it a day.

Simon Says Stamp Haul #12 Video

Here's a video FINALLY! Even though it's just a haul video it's a start. I mention in the video that I was given a gift card to SSS so I got to splurge and get a LOT of goodies - so fun. I tend to be less "practical" when it comes to gift cards (isn't that usually the point?) and get whatever I fancy at the time so this haul is all over the place LOL:

Bellarific Friday Sept 19th, 2014: Cafe

Sorry it's been so quiet on here lately! I've been having issues with getting pictures uploaded into my posts and trying to get things figured out and working has taken up a LOT of time. I've been BEYOND frustrated with all the issues and wasting so much time trying to get things working means I haven't been posting regularily nor have I had time to film/edit/upload videos. I think I've finally got it all fixed *fingers crossed* and can get back to posting regularily!

So here's my much-delayed Bellarific Friday post on a Sunday evening :P

Inspiration-10-Sept-19

So last week's Bellarific Friday challenge was this inspiration picture above - and I went back and forth over what to do. I was thinking animal print, and then took another direction and went more with the colors and decided to create a card in all brown tones.

I was going to go with layers and patterned papers and all that jazz then in the end went simple and made a one-layer card:

I decided to ink up my Uptown Girls CLARISSA and CAMILLE share a cafe image, I stamped it with MFT's Hot Fudge hybrid ink onto CCD Copic Quality 110lb card stock and colored them in with Copics.

I used only Copics from the E series so all shades of brown, and if you're familiar with Copics you know the E series has a LOT of shades to offer so it was pretty easy to play around and get a lot of "color" using just browns!

I finished off the card front with a little brown (of course) baker's twine.

To finish off the inside of the card I stamped the main image again - this time with MFT's Natural Dye ink, then stamped the sentiment that comes with the stamp using MFT's Hot Fudge hybrid ink again and that was it!

Valentine Cards?: MFT September Release Rewind

It's already time for Day 1 of the Release Rewind posts on MFT's blog - check out their post HERE for the links to all the other DT members playing along today (then check back tomorrow on their blog for post #2!)

I made 2 cards for todays post and as I was finishing them I thought they'd make cute Valentine cards:

I created 2 4-Bar sized cards (3.5 x 4 7/8") and used the new Cute Critters stamp set and coordinating Die-namics. SUCH a cute set.

I used the new Diagonal Bars stencil and sponged Razzleberry ink over it to create the background, then stamped the sentiment over it with Black Licorice hybrid ink. 

The fox was stamped over it's die cut with the same hybrid ink, then colored in with Copics. I couldn't resist covering the orange color with adhesive and pouring fun flock over it to make it all fuzzy! I potted it up on dimensionals and added some baker's twine to finish off the card front.

On the inside I stamped the fox again - this time with Orange Fizz ink, then used the little "mask" die from the Cute Critters Die-namics to cut "glasses" from Razzleberry card stock. The sentiment is from the Geek is Chic stamp set and totally made me LOL!

For my second card I went more with a "boy" theme, and created a Kraft 4-Bar sized card, this time using the Scattered Bars stencil with Chocolate Brown ink sponged over it.

With the raccoon after I colored him in I only added adhesive to certain parts and covered it with Fun Flock - I didn't want to obscure all the detail by covering all of him with Fun Flock.

The stump was stamped with Chocolate Brown Hybrid ink onto Kraft card stock and colored in lightly with Copics then I wrapped some Hemp Cord around it and tied it off.

And finally on the inside of this one I stamped one of the sentiments from the Cute Critters set, colored in the heart, then stamped the raccoon again and "masked" him with the die from Cute Critters Die-namics and that was it!

NEW MFT September '14 Available NOW

I'm focusing on the new Blueprints 19 Die-namics for all 3 cards I have to share with y'all:

For my first card I paired Blueprints 19 with the new Birdie Brown Class Act stamp set and the Jumbled Letters stencil.

I die cut some Black Licorice card stock with the large frame die from Blueprints 19 and used the center piece to stamp and emboss the inage from the Class Act stamp set with white embossing powder. I colored in the apple on her head with a red colored pencil.

The stencil was sponged over with Grout Grey dye ink, and the sentiment stamped over it with Black Licorice ink. The die cut star (also Blueprints 19) was stamped with the "A" from the sentiment then adhered over top.

I finished off the inside by die cutting that frame again and only using a small piece of it to stamp and emboss another sentiment from the Class Act set, and added another die cut star. I stamped the girlie with Grout Grey ink and lightly colored in the apple with the same red colored pencil.

For my second card I used one of the sketches MFT provides on the site with the Blueprints 19 set - makes for a SUPER quick and easy card.

I used the Burlap background stamp with Natural ink on Natural card stock, and combined a sentiment from the Thankful Thoughts stamp set with the "grateful" die cut from the Words of Gratitude Die-namics set.

For the inside of the card I die cut the frame from Blueprints 19 again and adhered it along with another die cut flower and stamped another sentiment from the Thankful Thoughts set.

For my final card I used the same color combo as the second as I really liked how it looked with the pop of orange - and substituted the Natural with Primitive Cream card stock.

TI used the inside piece from die cutting the frame for the inside of card #2, and ran it through my machine again with the leaf die from the Out on a Limb Die-namics set - LOVE the peek-a-boo effect!

I used all the "left-over" leaves on the inside of the card (today it was all about waste-not-want-not LOL!), stamped the trunk, then added a stamped sentiment from the Out on a Limb stamp set and accented it with 2 die cut flags from the Blueprints 19 set and that was it!

CAS Thanks: MFT Sept Countdown Day 1

For today's card I went the CAS (clean and simple) route again - focusing on the new Free with $60 set (you can only get it for free when purchasing $60 or more through MFT this month) Many Thanks Die-namics.

To create this cool splothy multi-color look I smooshed 3 different dye ink pads (Razzleberry, Lemon Drop and Blu Raspberry) onto my craft sheet and spritzed it with water before pressing some watercolor card stock into the ink. I've shown it many times in videos before - really easy and the results are different EVERY time. After I'd dried it I smooshed the card stock into the drops again to get the splotchy look, dried it again then die cut it with the Many Thanks Die-namics.

I die cut 4 pieces of Black Licorice card stock and adhered them all one on top of the other then adhered the watercolor die cut - so there's dimension and it won't bend or warp like it could if I'd just used dimensionals/foam tape.

I had some watercolor card stock left over so rather than tossing it I trimmed it down to a smaller strip and adhered it to the inside of the card. The sentiment is 2 stamps from the new Thankful Thoughts stamp set that I used together with some Black Licorice hybrid ink and that finished it off!

5 Minute Card: MFT September Countdown Day 2

My card today is probably the fastest and simplest card I've ever made LOL:

When you have 5 minutes before running out the door and someone who shall remain nameless (*cough* generally my husband.....or my mother *cough* LOL) needs a thank you card at THE last minute - well this can be whipped up in UNDER those 5 minutes!

All I used was some MFT Primitive Cream card stock, the new Thankful Thoughts stamp set and 4 different colors of ink.

PB & J: MFT September Countdown Day 3

I'm using the new Pure Innocence Peanut Butter & Jelly stamp set and Die-namics for this card - SO cute.

I colored her in with Copics, then used my Grapesicle and Kraft ink pads and smooshed them onto a craft sheet and spritzed with water to create puddles of purple and brown that I splattered onto the card with a paintbrush:

I added a few enamel dots to finish it off and popped up the main image and sentiment on dimensionals.

Mug of Thanks: MFT September Countdown Day 4

So today's post features more new MFT goodies - specifically the new Scattered Bars Stencil, Pinking Edge Rectangle STAX Die-namics and the Mason Jar Mugs Die-namics and Mason Jar Labels stamp set.

The last 2 you can see the videos I did HERE on MFT's blog - you'll also see snippets of how I made the lime wedges and mug in the Mason Jar Mug Die-namics video as well - hence no video today (well that and I just didn't have time to do a video for this! I've been racing the clock the past several days it seems.....).

To create the textured background I mixed some white embossing paste with Sno Cone dye ink, then applied it over the new Scattered Bars stencil (LOVE the stencils being released this month!!).

It's hard to see but the vellum mug was stamped with the Thanks sentiment from the Mason Jar Labels stamp set and clear embossed - the idea being that it'd be more like a real mug. And the lime pieces were coated with Clear Wink of Stella just because *wink*.

I finished off the inside by lining it with a piece of Sno Cone card stock that I die cut with the label die from the Mason Jar Mug Die-namics, then stamped the sentiment from Mason Jar Labels with Razzleberry ink inside the "window". I added some die cut ice cubes and called it a day :).

Bellarific Friday Sept 12th, 2014 & Making a Card #98 Video

I coated her dress and gift with my Clear Wink of Stella which is THE hardest of all the Wink of Stella to get to show up on camera - if you haven't got one yet though just trust me it's so worth it. I LOVE mine and am almost halfway through my second one and will keep getting more!

I decided to continue the banner on the inside since I had a bunch left over from die-cutting the ones for the front of the card.

Thankful: MFT September Countdown Day 5

I used several new products for this card - Fresh Cut Flowers Die-namics, Mason Jar Die-namics, Fine Check Background, and the Words of Gratitude Die-namics and Thankful Thoughts stamp set - the last two of which there'll be more info on another countdown day.

I die cut the Mason Jar twice - once from vellum and once from Berrylicious card stock. The Berrylicious piece I trimmed down with scissors. To get the hemp "wrapped" around the jar I pierced holes on either side of the jar and threaded the hemp through the cardstock then tied it in a bow.

I finished off the inside of the card with the Fine Check Background again (only pressing here and there to get a more uneven image) and adhered another die cut from the Words of Gratitude Die-namics and that was it!

Positive Notecards: MFT September Countdown Day 6

Hello everyone! We're sailing along on the sneak peek countdowns to next week's MFT September release  -and today I've got two cards to share.

Technically I don't have a video for these BUT if you check out MFT's blog post today and watch the product review videos you'll see bits of these cards coming together *wink*.

4.25" Square Card

I'm using the new Lunchbox Die-namics, Packed with Positivity stamp set and Jumbled Letters stencil on both cards.

I think this sentiment and image are cute but if you're a fellow Canadian you'll understand my slight dilemma with it! My kids wouldn't "get" the play on words here - b/c "Smarties" in Canada are chocolate (what you US peeps refer to as Smarties we call Rockets) - kind of like m&m's but a sweeter chocolate and flatter candy.

So if I really wanted to I could just use a circle stamp and stamp it several times with this sentiment in (Canadian) Smartie colors and my kids would understand LOL!

Anywho I used Copics to color in the package (R14, B16, YG23, Y06, BG0000, C1) then coated it with my WInk of Stella Clear.

Loving the little slit and note card with this Lunchbox die - that you can see in the product review video :).

The embossed letters were created by mixing Berrylicious Dye ink with some white embossing paste then applying it over the Jumbled Letters stencil - LOVE!

I finished off the inside by stamping the sentiment and stars from the Packed with Positivity stamp set.

My second card is somewhat similar I just used different colors and different stamps from the Packed with Positivity stamp set.

I used Copics to color in the bananas (Y15, Y19, Y28, Y000, BG0000, 0) and to "highlight" the sentiment on the note card (Y19).

This time I tinted the embossing paste yellow with Lemon Drop ink before applying it over the Jumbled Letters stencil.

I finished off the inside by stamping one of the sentiments with Lemon Drop ink and stamping a banana with Black Licorice Hybrid ink and coloring it in with the same Copics and that was it!

MFT September Countdown Day 7: Making a Card #97 Video

It's starting!!!!! 7 days of sneak peeks for the MFT September release - and I can't even begin to explain how good this release is! LOTS and LOTS of amazing products in this lineup - it's hard to know where to begin!

I had some fun with the new Out on a Limb stamp set and Out on a Limb Die-namics for this card. Since I wanted the focus to be on the tree and multi-colored leaves I left the rest of the card pretty simple.

I used three different colors of embossing powder for the leaves and the sentiment (I show how to do it in the video), and added some Stampendous Chunky Metallic Seasonings to get that cool metallic speckled look - LOVE!

I only used 2 ink colors on the inside of the card - Jellybean Green and Chocolate Brown. With some generation stamping (which MFT dye inks are fabulous for IMO - I can get 3 good impressions with almost all their ink colors (some of the really light colors only 2)) I got a lighter impression for the tree and leaves then stamped the sentiment and little leaves with the first impression of ink.

STAMPtember Lots of Snowflakes: Christmas Card Video Series #1

I'm getting a REALLY early head start on the Christmas Card Video series LOL! I decided today's card(s) would start off the series (rather than put them into my regular Making a Card Videos) since they ARE Christmas-themed! 

I'll be jumping back and forth between Halloween Series, Christmas Series, and all my regular Making a Card Series for the next several weeks! I try to keep everything categorized into their proper places in the sidebar on the right here on my blog, and link to any previous posts in a series at the end of the post so everyone can find them!

Anywho - on to the card!

I'm using the new Lots of Snowflakes stamp set and Christmas Blessings dies from Simon Says Stamp's newest STAMPtember release.

I used Distress Inks (Broken China, Peacock Feathers, Seedless Preserves, Dusty Concord) to create the bright background for the snowflakes, and coated the die cut sentiment with Wink of Stella Black and a couple of layers of clear embossing powder to make it shiny.

I kept the inside simple and just stamped the same snowflakes from the set with the same Distress Ink colors I'd used on the front.

I had a good sized piece of this watercolor background left over from the first card so of course I had to make a second one!

This time I die cut the sentiment from MFT Sno Cone card stock, and coated it with Clear Wink of Stella, and no embossing.
