Mother's Day Car Video #3 + Bonus Card
Hey everyone :) The sun is FINALLY shining here - so I want to get this post up so I can take the kids for a walk!
I made this first card with a video - then while I had the supplies out I whipped up a second card. Here's the first one:
I pulled out some patterned paper for these cards (it feels like it's been FOREVER since I've used patterned paper!), and my All About Mom stamp set.
I love this MFT Rose with Overlay Die-namics - SO easy to create a focal point for the card with. And it looks even cooler when used with patterned paper (or you could stamp the base layer with whatever pattern you wanted).

So like I said since I had everything sitting on my desk I made a second card while the video files were uploading to my computer:
It's funny but my original idea when I started these cards was to cut down a bunch of the papers into strips then layer them on to the card. But then in the pack there's a sheet of paper that has stips of the different patterns all on ONE piece. So all I had to do was trim that down and use on my card - way way WAY faster!
I used MFT's Pretty Posies Die-namics for the flower on this card, then added an enamel dot for the center.
I finished off the inside with a left-over piece of that same patterned paper and another sentiment from my All About Mom set and that was it!
Now I'm off to head outside! Have a fabulous day everyone!

Embossing on Textured Card Stock - Mother's Day Card #2 Video
QUICK quick card and post from me today! I literally made this card in about 10 minutes - if I'd taken a bit more time and effort I think I'd be happy with the end result but I have a LOT on my plate today! And Mother's Day is almost here! ACK!
My voiceover is a little hectic too LOL - I had Katelyn sitting in my lap and she was trying to knock over everything in site and wouldn't sit still (making my chair creak - you can hear it in the video...) - but no time to re-do. Ah well at least y'all know it's real life here!! *wink*

Embossing on textured card stock is tricky. Even with a lot of powder from either the powder tool I showed, or the little magic bag (which would have worked a *little* better IMO), there are still going to be little bits that get trapped in the texture.
And yeah when you watch the video you'll hear me go on my rant about the container I have my detail white EP in - HATE it. Today was the last straw - I literally have powder everywhere - and I can't stand the gritty feeling of it. So glad I kept the original containers b/c I'm going back to my coffee filter method that I've used for years. *MAYBE* I'll get the better containers that Jennifer McGuire has shown so much with the little spoons - but still not sure if I ever will. I like my coffee filter system so why change it?

Watercolored Poinsettia - Making a Card #41 Video
Hello everyone! Even though it's nearly the end of April this Christmassy card feels fitting because as I type up this post snow is coming down in big fat flakes! It's been a cold and dreary several days with a LOT of rain, that all-of-a-sudden switched to snow a little while ago.
I had so many people ask to show how I colored in the poinsettia card that I posted with my MFT Hybrid ink review that I decided to re-create it and film it to show y'all how easy it really was.
Always so hard to capture the shimmer on camera - the outline of all the petals and the center just glimmers. It's really pretty in real life!

Star Shaker Card - Making a Card #40 Video
Hey everyone! My blog seems to be back to running normally, and I've been playing around a lot lately with stencils and die cuts and have a few videos that will need to be edited and uploaded. Here's the first one I have for you guys:
I came across a big pack of micro beads (Martha Stewart ones - I bought them at Michaels years ago) that I've never used, and decided to make a shaker card with them.
I wasn't able to find a link for the transparency sheets the last time I made a shaker card - but you can get them at any office supply store, and prolly WalMart too.

Copic Dotting Technique - Making a Card #39 Video
I didn't know what else to call this method of coloring with Copics - but once you watch the video you'll see how SUPER simple it is LOL!
I needed to whip up a couple of boy birthday cards - and so I went to my Paper Smooches stash of stamps and Wise Dies and made this card (the second card I'll share later):

Watercoloring over Hybrid Inks - 2014 Mother's Day Card #1 Video
Hey everyone :). First off to give you guys a quick heads up - my blog (along with all the blogs that use TypePad) has been on and off for a few days now (simplest terms!). There are some major issues going on right now (DoS attacks and whatnot - again simple terms. I did some digging and found out what I could and it all sounds insane!) so I've been haivng issues being able to get in and write posts, my blog will sometimes show up and sometimes not, and people can sometimes leave comments and sometimes not!
PLEASE bear with me as they (hopefully!) resolve all of this. I'm not about to jump ship to another blog provider b/c #1 TypePad has been great for me all these 8+ years (I'm honestly not sure how long it's been! I'll have to check), #2 There's no way I could attempt to move this blog somewhere else myself and can't even being to afford to pay for it (last time I looked in to it it was in the thousands of dollars if I wanted to keep everything!).
So I'm stuck but optimistic that everything will be back and running normal ASAP! :) Obviously since you're reading this means I was finally able to get back in to type up posts!!
Anywho - back to the post at hand.

This was such a fun and EASY card to make! I am *really* loving these new Hybrid inks - that's what I stamped the flowers and sentiment with, before washing dye ink over the stamped flowers.
So hard to capture the shimmer in a picture but you can see it a little better in the video.

MFT April Creative Challenge - Jazz Up Your Blooms with Pattern
Hey everyone! This month's Creative Challenge for the MFT Design Team is super fun - Jazz up your die-cut flowers by adding pattern and texture.

OK on to my cards:
I had an idea to try die cutting MFT's cork sheets (knew that would work) and then stamping it with the new Hot Fudge Hybrid ink and the Typewriter Text background stamp.
Success! I LOVE how it turned out! And I'm obsessed with the new Blueprints 14 Die-namics - I used them for all the elements on this card.
I stamped the background with Hybrid Kraft ink, and the sentiment was stamped with the Hybrid inks as well.
Now for my second card:
I pulled out some of the Royal Roses Die-namics and stamped some Whip Cream card stock with Blu Raspberry Hybrid ink and the Darling Dots stamp set. I then stamped some Blu Raspberry card stock with the same set and Whip Cream ink.
This isn't a card I would mail LOL (or if I did I would add some padding to the flat areas to keep the flowers from being crushed, then put it in a padded envelope) - but it certainly makes a statement with the fun patterned flowers!
Both of these cards are 5" square cards.
Product Review Video - NEW MFT Hybrid Inks
Here are my thoughts on the NEW MFT Hybrid inks that were just released this month! I've been playing with them quite a bit, and you guys have already seen me use the black ink in a couple of videos so far.

EDITED TO ADD: Answering several questions I've been getting! You can't stamp and emboss with these inks - they dry too quickly! Hybrid inks will stain your stamps - most inks do. It's something that doesn't bother me - means my stamps are well loved ;). I totally forgot to try these out with Prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits - once I do I will update everyone!
ETA2: These inks DO work with Prismacolors and OMS (odorless mineral spirits)!! I'll have a video showing that coming up for the May MFT release. But I wanted to add that info in here as well!
And make sure to check out this post on MFT's blog (this is the one I mention in the video) where Kim shows several different things you can do with the inks and stamps them onto all sorts of materials.

Here are the cards I showed in the video - the Mom card and video will get posted in a couple of days!
I stamped the image and sentiment with Black Licorice Hybrid ink - it works perfectly with Copics!
I added a bit of Wink of Stella clear shimmer to parts of her outfit too.
And my second card:
I stamped the poinsettia with Red Hot Hybrid ink then watercolored it with some MFT dye inks (Red Hot, Wild Cherry, Paver Red and Banana Split). I show in the video how it would have looked had I stamped it with black ink instead.
So hard to capture on camera but I went over the outline of the poinsettia with my Wink of Stella gold shimmer brush so it's all sparkly and shimmery :).
I kept the inside of the card simple again and just stamped the poinsettia a couple of times with the Red Hot Hybrid ink.
FINAL THOUGHTS - if you watched the video you can tell how much I love these inks. I'm really excited to have TWO options for every MFT color (well soon to be every color!) depending on my mood and what I am trying to achieve with my creation. I have several ideas brewing to show you guys with these inks so stay tuned :) :) :).

Sunday Recap: April 13 - April 19
Well I've managed to get in to my account here to get this post up a day late. My blog provider is experiencing some MAJOR issues right now so my blog (along with everyone else with this provider) has been down or slow for the past few days. They're working on it and hopefully everything will be resolved ASAP! :)
I hope y'all had a great Easter weekend - since a lot of you were asking we honestly didn't do anything. Hubby had to work (he got Friday and Sunday off but had to work Saturday) and with both of us seriously lacking in sleep last week (was one of those weeks) we didn't make any plans. This week it's Easter break for my kids from school so I'm looking forward to getting to spend some extra time with them, and Katelyn is going to LOVE having her sisters around so much as she adores them. <3 <3 <3!

Nurse Lucy - and Making a Card #38 Video
Hey everyone :). If you haven't checked out my Doodlebug Haul and Giveaway post yet you can find it by scrolling below or clicking HERE.
Since I had all those Doodlebug cards sitting here I thought I better use them so I had some time today to make this fun little card:
I used my new For the Nurses Sentiment stamp set for sentiments and the new CCD Swiss Pixie Nurse Lucy as my main image peeking out through the card window.
I *love* the matching envelope with the scalloped edge and the polka-dot inside! Just finishes off this card. And it's nice to have the envelope with it as this card isn't a standard A2 size - it's 4.5x6.25".
I haven't used a pre-made card in I don't know how long - at first I was at a bit of a loss as to how I was going to use them. For this card I kept it super simple and just had the main image on the inside with a sentiment on the outside and another one below the image on the inside.

I mention in the video that the Eclipse masking paper that I use is no longer available - so I've linked to a couple of options in the supplies (it's up to personal preference which one you go for - one is in 5x7 sheets and the other one is a 2" wide roll that will last you forever!).

2014 Easter Card Video #9
Happy Monday! I posted a card and video yesterday in case you missed it. Either click here or scroll down to see it if you're viewing this on my blog.
I wanted to squeeze in at *least* one more Easter card and video before this weekend - I had hoped to do more this year (for Easter - I've been cranking out cards and videos in general like crazy IMO!) but as usual time got away from me.
But I made this one this morning and it turned out even BETTER than I was picturing in my head LOL! I love how bright and cheerful it is:
I used my Stamping Bella Uptown Girl BUNNY and her DAFFODIL image for this card (SO cute) and a sentiment from my Egg-celent Easter Sentiments stamp set.
I paired them with some MFT Die-namics and a bunch of Doodlebug goodies and this was the result:
