Hey everyone! I've got a birthday card to share with y'all:
My hubby's birthday is today, and for once in my life I did some pre-planning LOL. I made this card last weekend, and got it to one of his co-workers who then had everyone at the GM dealership they work at sign it. Then to top if off I baked a ton of cupcakes this morning and delivered them to the dealership for everyone (I have a pic of them on my Instagram account). Definitely not something I will be doing every year - but this one's special :).
This card is BIG - I took a full sheet of 8.5 x 11" card stock and scored it in half so it's a 8.5x5.5" card. It needed to be big enough to fit all the signatures as there's about 50 people that work there (so my standard A2 size definitely wouldn't cut it).
The car stamp and background stamp are from some old GM sets that Cornish Heritage Farms used to sell way back in the day (they're no longer available sorry!). I bought a couple of the sets before they closed down (and eventually sold) the company as I *knew* I'd eventually use them. Tim's worked at our local GM dealership for several years now, and being a guy they're just nice stamps to have on hand!
I stamped the car onto CCD Copic Quality 110lb card stock and colored it in with my Copics. I used my Wink of Stella Clear and Silver on the car (one of the few times you can get away with some "bling" on a guys card LOL!)
For all the die cuts I used several different sets of Die-namics. The letters for his name I die cut several times and adhered together to give them some dimension then covered the top layer with more Clear Wink of Stella.
On the inside of the card I stamped the background again and added a few more die cut stars and a die cut "30" and left the rest of the space for all the signatures.
Finally to finish off the card I "authenticated" it with one of the little GM symbol stamps that is in one of the sets. And yes Tim noticed it (he's a details guy so I had a feeling he'd pick up on that) lol.
I gotta say I'm pretty proud I pulled this off - I am HORRIBLE at keeping secrets like this (like I said in my MFT Launch post I gave him that album I made as soon as it was done b/c I couldn't wait 'till today LOL!) and there were a few times this week where I thought he'd found out. But we all kept him in the dark and pulled it off. *grin*
