Hello everyone. I can't believe it's the end of January already - this month has felt soooooo long but yet it's flown by - go figure.
So today's video uses my new Gelato's and embossing paste and a stencil - I don't go into a whole lot of detail in the video other than showing what I did. Like I say in the video this was literally the second time I've ever used them (the first being on a card that I can't post yet - that will be next week!). So until I play with it all some more and get used to this whole new medium I'm not posting any specific reviews 'till I've had more time to use them!
ALSO - if you haven't seen me mention the Stenciled class from OCC make sure to go check it out. The class is over but you can still sign up and gain access to all their posts and videos. There is SO much information and inspiration in that class - I can't recommend it enough. I learned all sorts of cool things you can do with stencils - so y'all will be seeing me use them a lot in the future! :)
Anywho - I mention in the video how I was inspired by this card posted on the SSS blog that Shari Carroll made. I also mention how I *thought* her card had looked in my head and my attempt at changing it up a bit actually made mine even more like hers LOL! It's funny how you remember things - I purposely try not to go back and look at creations that inspire me - rather take the idea and go with it and put my own spin on it - then go back to link to the original (as that's only right).
This time when I went back to link to my inspiration I saw that I mentally absorbed a *lot* more of the details in her card than I thought. So much for me putting much of my own spin on it :P! I honestly thought about scrapping the card/video and completely re-doing it all - but I just don't have time for that. So here it is:
I had a hard time getting a good shot of the embossing paste - didn't help that I was in a hurry when I took these photos :P.
And apologies for the messy embossing paste on this inside panel! Being RED it's there to stay - I think if it were left white you could get away with scraping off a bit with a craft knife if there were bits you didn't want/smeared/etc. But once it's tinted a color it gets absorbed and you're stuck with it.
I was more or less playing around with this piece and it really enforced the need to mask off any areas on the stencil you don't want to get paste on as it's rather difficult to control (especially when you're just starting out) where you put it!
Anywho here's the video:
