I said in the video I got the transparencies from Staples years ago - they're just lightweight ones - any kind will work really - even transparent packaging that you can cut down :).
I have to admit this card is my favorite so far - it just came together so well and I had SO much fun making it LOL! I have a soft spot for Paper Smooches stamps - they just crack me up and if I had it my way I'd own every single set AND die as well - the dies have really done me in. Between those and my patterned paper addiction I'm gonna be in the poor house yet!
Speaking of patterned paper - I posted a haul yesterday in case you missed it. And if you've missed any of my previous Halloween videos you can find them all at the links below:
I mentioned in the haul video that I'm fighting off getting sick - and I still am! I don't know if you can hear it in my voice in the video or not. Sometimes when I talk for too long I start sounding "scratchy". That's one of the nice things about being at home and not working full time right now - b/c the way I've been feeling my voice would have been long gone by now. *Fingers crossed* I can keep fending it off - I don't have time to get sick right now LOL!
Now on to the card:
See??? SO fun. AND I used my washi tape!
I've never had a problem trimming out images with scissors but I WAY prefer having the matching dies - so much faster and perfect all the way around.

Ahhhhh I can't believe it's almost the end of September already!! I still have Halloween cards and videos planned, but will be starting on Christmas stuff soon too! Usually I don't even think about the Christmas stuff 'till after Halloween but things are different this year and I have to start planning way earlier - which my OCD isn't liking but it's actually a good thing. By getting things now I'm not scrabling in the beginning of November and not getting anything done (like last year - although I was also really sick while prego with the munchkin so that played a major role).
So yeah - I've put in some extra work hours the past few weeks to fund all these crazy hauls - was it necessary? No not really - I have quite the stash as it is. But I like getting new goodies (who doesn't LOL?) - and yeah it's WAY too easy to be up late at night feeding the munchkin and shopping on my laptop :P.
*EDITED to add - I just saw in my stats that this is my 2000th post here! Is that crazy or what?*
For whatever reason I can't find the K&Company Specialty Glitter 6x6 pad I got - there's a good chance it sold out and was removed from the site already. A couple other things I *think* are sold out already - but you can check out theirHalloween Goodies section as there are still lots of fun things in there - I found a bunch of my goodies in there :).
It was *really* hard to capture the sparkle of the embossing powder in a picture - I tried all sorts of angles and finally just held it up in the studio to get this shot - so that's why the color is off. But it still didn't really capture the sparkle - but in the video it shows up better!
To see how I made this card check out my video below:
I wasn't joking when I say in the video that this card has taken me a week to make :P. I had the general idea for the card, then started pulling out the supplies for it, then something always seemed to interrupt me when I went to actually make it.
Finally today I decided to just go with it and color the image as I had time and not worry about filming that (as it's the most time consuming part all around). I won't do that all the time as I know people like to see *HOW* I colored in the image - but this time I just needed to be able to get up and walk away from it when needed and not worry about having a TON of video to edit. That and I like being able to just color without worrying that I'm in frame or where my hands are was kind of nice too LOL.
I did make sure to take note of all the colors I used:
One thing that *really* sped up the card making process was the Blueprints 6 Die-namics. Yet another thing I've fallen in love with from MFT ;). When I first saw these dies a few months ago I didn't quite get what they were meant for (although that was my fault - if I'd actually LOOKED at them on the MFT site they explain them quite simply LOL) - but now that I "get" it - I love them ;).
I was stuck on what to do for a layout - I had the image and patterned papers picked out - so then I pulled out the dies and used one of the layouts provided and done. Less thinking for me is better right now!!
And so fun to be able to actually show y'all how glittery this turned out - and yet you can still see all the detail of the coloring - I talk more about that at the end of the video :).
To see how I made the card check out the video below:
So I have a product review video for y'all - it feels like forever since I've done one of these! This one needed to go up tho b/c I tried and tried and TRIED to love these mists but I just *don't* :(.
Although if any of you guys have any tips/tricks/ideas to make them more *loved* (LOL) let me know becasue I am just bummed.
I will say though that the green (Sour Apple) and orange (Mandarin) have more(ish) shimmer in them than the purple (Grape Fizz). I wonder if my Grape Fizz one just didn't get enough shimmer powder put IN to the bottle....because it's really disappointing.
Ah well - it's not the end of the world - thank goodness I didn't buy every single color (in the past I prolly would have LOL - I have zero patience and want to own a whole collection of everything - it's pretty sad (and expensive!)) - but I kept myself in check when I ordered these - thank goodness!!
Today's post is a two-for-one, well actually a three-for-one as I've got 2 things to share and a video too!
The Design Team Creative Challenge this month for MFT was to use their Peek-a-Boo Die-namics in fun and creative ways. For me right now my brain is mush so I don't think my little projects are anything mind-blowing or out-of-the-box - but they were fun! That counts right?
And what I DO find challenging is to *not* use any patterned paper (which I know some people have the completely opposite issue and find patterned paper more difficult to work with) - and to make cards/projects without it takes a little more (OK a LOT) effort from me. So I added that to the mix as well LOL!
Anywho here is what I made - and of course I HAD to do a Halloween theme:
My only frustration with this project was that the ideas *really* started to roll but I didn't have the time to make anything else or the supplies to really take these fab little treat boxes to the next level (but there's always next year...)
I started with this little treat box-y bag that I made with the new Paper Bag Treat Box Die-namics and Paper Bag Peek-a-boos Die-namics.
Y'all may have noticed that I *rarely* make anything other than cards. Mostly b/c I just don't like fiddling with printed templates or lengthy instructions etc etc. I can't tell you how many templates I've purchased and downloaded over the years and I don't think I've used a simgle one....
But THIS - this I like. I ran the Paper Bag Treat Box Die-namics through my Big Shot two times with some Kraft card stock and there you go. With that out of the way I could decorate it to my heart's content.
Y'all might actually see me start to post things other than *just* cards in the future!!
I say it in the video but the options are SO limitless with these dies - so so so fun. I'm thinking vellum, or a clear acetate window....a cellophane bag filled with candy...make several in different colors for a table setting and put those little fake battery operated t-lights in them.....see what I mean?
I had to make a card to go with this little treat box:
I pulled out my older Spiderweb Die-namics for this as I feel it fits the challenge as it creats a sort of peek-a-boo effect as well. LOVE this die - I got it last year for my halloween series and couldn't wait to pull it out again this year!
Again I went with the Green, Kraft, Black, White color theme to match the little treat box (another fun way to mix it up and step *out* of the box for Halloween color schemes).
And the inside of the card. If you watch my video I share what occured to me at the very end AFTER I had already adhered everything (literally all my ideas were happening after the fact - kind of frustrating - but really I'm still dealing with brain mush after having a baby - so I'm just glad there are any creative ideas at all LOL!!).
Here's the video:
And make sure to head over to the MFT blog to see what all the other DT gals have come up with. I've seen a few peeks of their creations and they're all just fabulous!
I had hoped to now only have this uploaded earlier this week, but to have at least made and filmed a couple more cards by this weekend - but life has a way of getting in the way LOL! It's been a loooonnnggg week :P.
ANYWHO - I finally got this card made - it started out (in my head) even simpler than this but then evolved into what you see now. I gotta say (again!) how much I LOVE the pierced STAX die-namics! When I looked at them on their site I was kind of meh over them - didn't think I needed them and didn't think I'd use them much. Yeah.....I want to use them on everything LOL! They just add that little bit "extra" without the effort b/c there's no way I'd pierce all my layers by hand - ain't nobody got time for that *wink*.
Here's the card:
I used The Alley Way stamps Funky Feet set for this card - really cute. I need to pull out my TAWS monster sets I have as this set would go great with them.....*ideas are rollin*!
And still diggin' my Wink of Stella pen - I'll have to do a separate review of it in the near future...
OK here's the haul video I mentioned in my life update video that I posted yesterday. Now if I can only get my energy back (I am STILL exhausted from that business trip this past weekend - I have to keep reminding myself that it takes a long time to fully recover from an emergency c-section etc etc and not get frustrated but STILL......) and get crackin' with all the Halloween cards and whatnot that I want to make - the ideas are there - just not the time and energy to execute them LOL!
After editing this video I think I look WAY more tired than I feel LOL - and I say the word "good" about a million times - sorry! But rather than re-film it all I may as well post it as this is me (and munchkin) at this stage of life. My poor brain is still mush (hence the use of the word good every 2 seconds) - partially from lack of sleep, partially from re-adjusting from the business trip, and partially (I think) from prego hormones.
I find I still have issues talking - my brain and mouth just don't want to work together and I lose track *really* easily - and words just escape me at times. So filming videos like this I'm finding quite difficult - as it is this was the 3rd or 4th time I filmed it today - like I said I finally gave up and am just gonna post it! It's a lot easier to type up what I want to say, and when doing voiceovers easier (and way less time consuming) to just re-do things when my thoughts and words aren't matching up *wink*.
But I really am *good* (LOL) - just needing more sleep and time to get back into the swing of things after the trip! I forgot to mention in the video that K sleeps quite well at night - which is a good thing but lately she's been having a hard time napping during the day - you can really tell that she just fights it and doesn't want to miss anything going on - goofy kid.
Hello everyone! It's time for MFT's September Release Rewind where we get to show you some other creations we've made using stamps and die-namics from the release that we haven't had a chance to use yet.
I couldn't choose just one thing so made 2 different cards that are completely different from each other - but both of them use the new Free with $60 set - Large Scale Backgrounds. Once I started playing with this set I had to keep using it LOL!
For my first card I kept things *really* simple as I wanted not only the Large Scale Backgrounds stamps to stand out - but the butterfly too.
I used Kraft ink for the polka dot stamp and Hot Fudge ink for the diamonds.
I die cut the butterfly from Razzle Berry card stock using the new Fancy Butterflies Die-namics - LOVE these dies - they're HUGE!! I only used the one die for this card - but I'll have to play with it some more that's for sure.
I sponged Razzle Berry ink onto the butterfly to deepen all the edges - makes it look so pretty.
The sentiment is from the new Sending Thanks set - I stamped it using Razzle Berry ink.
The splatter was made using a marker in a similar color to MFT's Kraft and my SU Spritzer tool.
I followed the same pattern on the inside of the card, then stamped the THANK YOU from the Sending Thanks set with Razzle Berry ink and that was it!
Now for card #2:
I had fun with this one :). I pulled out my Red Delicious Die-namics and die cut it with Wild Cherry, Jellybean Green and Hot Fudge card stocks. I then stamped the houndstooth from the Large Scale Backgrounds onto the apple using Wild Cherry ink - LOVE it! :)
The polka dots were stamped with Kraft ink onto the Kraft cardstock.
I used the new Pure Innocence It's a Sign stamp set as my focal point for this card - I stamped it onto white cardstock with my Memento Ink and colored her in with Copics (if I remember I can upload a picture of all the Copics I used later - I'm still not home and for some reason totally missed getting that picture uploaded! :P).
Edited to add - here it is!:
I used the Pierced Rectangle STAX Die-namics to cut out the main image, and added the Border It - Numbers Die-namics along the bottom strip of Hot Fudge card stock.
This is a 5.5" square card.
On the inside of the card I die cut the largest of the Pierced Rectangles STAX die-namics then stamped the Pure Innocence It's a Sign girl with Kraft ink, and added the little <3 You sentiment with Wild Cherry ink. It's one of those things that when it's done you can't help but grin LOL - it just turned out perfectly ;).
Make sure you head on over to the MFT blog to see what all the other DT members created. And if you missed it check out yesterday's post on there too as there is a TON of eye candy!!
I'm not at home at the moment - my mother and I (along with the munchkin of course) are on a buying trip for her clothing store - so I'm dealling with crappy hotel wifi. I saved this post before I left but it's been a tad difficult getting it to go live from my hotel room - but here it is! :)
After posting that Happy Birthday Little Brother card a couple of weeks ago I made another card with the girl image and filmed it so *fingers crossed* I can get it all edited and uploaded today for y'all. :)
Hey everyone! So now's the time the MFT Design Team is taking everyone on a tour of all the NEW MFT September products available at the MFT Store.
I made three cards and one with a video to show y'all so sit back for a long post! ;)
I used the new Winged Beauties Stamp Set and Winged Beauties Die-namics - and couldn't stop after just one card - so I ended up making three. And of course I couldn't decide which one to share so I'm sharing all three LOL!
Here's the first card:
I stamped the butterflies from the set onto Kraft card stock using Kraft, Hot Fudge and Sweet Tooth ink. The sentiment is from the new Contemporary Roses set - I wanted a larger sentiment that would stand out against all the butterflies - and the ones in the Contemporary Roses set are perfect. I inked it up with Sweet Tooth ink and stamped it onto Hot Fudge card stock.
On the inside of the card I just stamped the butterflies using the same inks I used on the front. I looooove how the white pigment ink just "pops" off the card stock yet has that translucent look to it.
Now for card number 2:
For this one I used just the Winged Beauties Die-namics as my focal point. I matted them with a piece of Hot Fudge card stock that I'd stamped with the same ink and the Textile Backgrounds (see I told y'all I can't put that set down!) stamp, then die cut with the new Pierced Rectangles STAX Die-namics.
And instead of stamping the die cut butterflies with the coordinating butterfly images - I created "patterned paper" of sorts:
All I did was ink up the notebook paper stamp from the new Journal It - Take Note stamp set with the Sweet Tooth ink and stamp it twice onto the butterflies - turning it for the second time to create a "gridline" effect.
I attached the butterflies to the Hot Fudge cardstock by sewing down the centers - that way the wings are all popped up a bit and give added dimension.
The Kraft "patterned paper" was just made with one of the smaller butterflies from the Winged Beauties stamp set and stamping it in Hot Fudge, Kraft and Sweet Tooth inks (I had that look still in my head after creating the previous card obviously).
Finally I used all the same elements on the inside of the card that I used on the front.
I didn't add any sentiments to this card - that way it could be used for pretty much any occasion.
Finally the last card I made (and this one has a video to go with it):
To see how I made this card check out the following video:
