Thank You Die-namics and a Video Tutorial

Have you guys been enjoying all the teaser posts so far? I know I've enjoyed seeing everyone's creations with the September MFT release and I've been having a blast stamping all these cards to show you guys! :)

For today's card I'm using the new Thank You die-namics which I LOVE - I see myself using these a LOT!

I also used the Rolled Rose die-namics - and for that I did up a video tutorial - b/c I don't know about an of you but *I* had a bit of trouble wrapping my brain around using them. I just couldn't seem to get them to roll up properly and they looked ridiculous - so once I "got it" I thought I'd do a video - but again it might just be me LOL!

Now for the finished card:

I used the Textile Backgrounds set (again) with the new Steel Grey ink - I stamped them off once onto scratch paper before stamping onto the white cardstock to give it that more mottled look.

The Thank You Die-namics were die cut with yellow cardstock that I ended up going over with a Y19 Copic marker to darken it a bit. I used the same marker on the pearls as they were originally white and I didn't have anything yellow. So I pulled out my airbrush and colored them all yellow.

On the inside of the card I used the Textile Backgrounds stamp again, then added a strip of Sno Cone cardstock and stamped a sentiment from the Sending Thanks set (which goes perfectly with the Thank You Die-Namics of course) in black and that was it!

One Crazy Stamper Haul #4 VIDEO

*this is post #2 for today so be sure to scroll down to see the card I posted earlier! :)*

Hey everyone, I've got another haul video to show y'all. After my last order from SimonSaysStamp got here I was itching to get my hands on some new Halloween patterned papers and whatnot and decided to get it though OneCrazyStamper (which is located in Canada BTW). I placed my order last week (Friday night I think) and it got here yesterday (it was actually not scheduled to arrive until after the long weekend - so Tuesday - but got here early - YAY!).

I wanted to get this posted ASAP as I think a couple of the things I got have already sold out :P. So here's the video:

Sept Teaser Day 4 - Hello

It's MFT's Day 4 of 7 Teaser posts for the Sept release!

For today's card I went simple and quick - even with the dimension and die-cut roses this is another one that would be easy to make several of to have on hand for a variety of occasions:

I used the soon-to-be-released Contemporary Roses and Contemporary Roses Die-Namics along with the new Cotton Candy and Limeade inks. For the detail part of the roses I used Razzle Berry ink that I stamped off onto scratch paper before stamping on the roses.

I stamped the new Textile Backgrounds onto Kraft cardstock with Kraft ink (LOVE love LOVE the Kraft ink!!! It's quickly become another one of my "must haves"), die cut it with the Pierced Rectangle Die-namics, then stamped the "Hello" with Versafine Onyx black ink.

For the inside of the card I used the largest of the Pierced Rectangle Die-namics and the Kraft cardstock. I used the Kraft ink again with the background stamp but I stamped it off onto scratch paper to make it lighter so that it's easier to write over (in real life it looks nicer than this - my photo-editing makes it look more "blotchy" than it really is - I'm still working on the whole editing thing!).

Let your Smile change the World

Hello everyone! Today is day 3 of MFT's September Teaser Time and I have another sneak peek card using new MFT stamps and die-namics - this time I'm using the soon-to-be-released Sunny Day Doodles - Celebrate Life stamp set - and there's a video for this one!

The whole "chalkboard art" craze has been going on for how long now? I personally really like the look of it - and thought I'd try and re-create it using the Celebrate Life set.

I also used the new Pierced Rectangles STAX die-namics - gotta say I'm *really* liking them - the piercing along the edges is subtle enough that it works with pretty much every style - whereas if I were to pierce the holes manually (which I don't have time for anyway that's why I rarely do it on my cards) they'd be much larger and "obvious" YKWIM?

This is the inside of the card - I used another sentiment from the Celebrate Life set and did the same chalkboard technique with it.

I'm also OBSESSED with the Textile Backgrounds stamp set - pretty much every card I'll be posting during these previews use it. It's one of those sets that when you first look at it you think it's nice, but then I find myself reaching for it for EVERY card. Love it. Seriously.

OK folks it's Day 1 of 7 of the My Favorite Things September release Teaser Time! Make sure you check out the MFT blog for all the info and links to all the other gal's posts for today.

For my card I'm using the new Fall Foliage stamp set and Fall Foliage Die-namics:

I stamped the leaves onto MFT's Jellybean Green, Hot Fudge, Kraft and SU's More Mustard (discontinued) card stocks then die cut them using the new Fall Foliage Die-namics.

The sentiment is also from the Fall Foliage set - I stamped it with black ink onto patterned paper and added a little strip of the Hot Fudge cardstock.

On the inside of the card I lined it with some MFT Kraft card stock and stamped the stitched swirl image from the Fall Foliage set. I then stamped and die cut more leaves and added them over a couple strips of the same patterned papers I used on the front.

BIG News!!

It's been hard to sit on this info for the past little while - but now I can finally announce that I'm the newest Design Team member for My Favorite Things!!

I couldn't say no when the opportunity was presented to me - I've been using their stamps and dies for years now and LOVE them. I actually used to be on their DT years and years ago (6 years in fact - can't believe it's been that long) but things have changed tons since then so even though I'm "back" with them it's all so new and exciting! :) :) :)

I've been doing a bit of scrambling as I'm getting back in to stamping after so many months of barely doing anything - so bear with me as I get back my "mojo". I've been struggling a bit to create and whatnot but I'm finding the MORE cards I make the more the wheels start to turn and ideas are starting to flow like they used to. Joining a big DT like this with fabulous designers (seriously y'all need to check out their blogs if you aren't already subscribed to them all - they are all MAJORLY talented crafters!) is also a tad daunting!

I honestly was getting a little worried as I was having a REALLY hard time after the baby arrived (part of that was just being exhausted and recovering from surgery) just trying to create *anything* - my brain just wasn't working. But I've made and posted a couple cards already (and y'all can see for yourselves how they're improving LOL!), and I'm finding the more I've been stamping the more ideas that are coming to me. I've really been enjoying it.

Anywho enough chatter from me - here is my first "official" MFT DT card:

I only used one shade of pink ink (Razzle Berry) on this card - but by stamping it off onto scratch paper you can get several shades of the same color.

Stamp set is LJD Splendid Sunflower - instead of using yellow I chose to go with the Razzle Berry - it's already one of my favorite colors.

And the sentiment....well I couldn't help myself - I thought it was rather fitting for my announcement post LOL!

Sentiment is from the LJD Grand Greetings set.

On the inside of the card I just stamped all the images full strength and left enough white space to be able to write something.

Simon Says Stamp Haul #3 VIDEO

So I kind of have a love/hate relationship with SimonSaysStamp.com. I love that they carry a TON of product (and that is usually pretty well stocked - it's not too often that I've gone looking through their store and found several things I've wanted that were out of stock), their shipping has vastly improved (my first order from them took FOREVER to ship out, then my second and now this one shipped out within a day or two of ordering), and I think they're a good company.

What I DON'T like is that I have contacted them more than once - and never heard back from them :P. They were one of the company's I had contacted last year about possibly doing a collaberation/giveaway/something of sorts with my Halloween and Christmas series - or even a small discount or something in exchange for my promotion.

Normally I don't talk about this sort of thing on here as it's always been just me - I purchase everything I use, if I work on a Design Team with a company I will get their products in exchange for the work, and every once in a blue moon a company sends me things. I *rarely* ask for anything - but I thought I'd give it a shot last year as my videos/series were getting more popular/more hits. And yeah none of the companies I contacted even replied to me - I wasn't expecting everyone to jump all over themselves to offer me things - a simple "no" I would be OK with LOL! But to not hear anything back was a bit of a let-down (and burst my ego too LOL - which in a way can be a good thing - no need to get all full of oneself eh?).

So anywho SSS was one of the companies I'd contacted - and never heard back from. Now there IS a good chance that no one even saw my e-mail as that can definitely happen! But I've actually sent e-mails before to them about other things and never heard back - so that's a little frustrating.

It's been almost a year since I last ordered from them - not because of my personal "issues" - but because of my whole getting pregnant/being so sick/having a baby/not stamping "issues" LOL!!

That and I tend to order more "goodies" this time of year as I'm gearing up for my Halloween and Christmas crafting and video series. Even though I have built up quite the collection for both holidays - I can't help myself when there are some NEW goodies out there for me to try out - and like I say in the beginning of the haul video - when I'm up in the middle of the night/several times a night and am browsing online it's way too easy to shop *wink*.

I also just want to add a thank you to all those people that had some righteous indignation when I mentioned this whole issue recently in one of my videos. I appreciate all y'all's support!! And I appreciate those that add notes to their online orders to say that they were inspired or directed that way because of me.

Over the years I HAVE had companies notice that and contact me b/c of it. That was back when there weren't nearly as many blogs/online stores/youtubers as there is now - things have changed a LOT over the years and like I said I definitely don't expect companies to come knocking on my (virtual) door. I will admit that SSS (to me) is a much "bigger" business than anything I've dealt with - and to be honest with y'all ALL the businesses I contacted last year were "big" ones. I thought I'd take a shot and see what would happen - and well y'all know the result (if your eyes haven't glazed over at this point - sorry I'm in a really chatty mood this morning!).

SO - if you've read this whole novel I've typed (and please don't think I'm complaining or upset over any of that - it was more of a "burst bubble" thing and I'm over it - it would have been great if those companies had got back to me but I can definitely survive with all the stuff I have already!!) here's the video:

Little Brothers...

Today's card doesn't have a video with it - sorry!

I'm going to be posting more "just cards" posts in the future - I want to be able to sit down and create and not have to do everything off to my side because I have a camera in the way LOL! Plus it will be nice to just create without worrying about time constraints (the longer I film the longer I have to edit afterwards) and all that and just have fun.

Of course there will still be (hopefully lots!) of videos. I have all sorts of ideas in the works and plans and good things *grin*.

With it being *thisclose* to fall I'm feeling so energized and just ready to take on the world. Fall/autumn is definitely my most FAVOURITE time of the year - my only regret is up here it doesn't last very long - it feels like I blink and it's winter :(. I'm hoping as always that this year the season lasts for a good long time - now that I'm at home all the time (even though I'm just as busy as ever - it's just a change in location) I really hope to ENJOY the cooler weather.

Anywho the reason for all this chatter leads me to my card. I got these new CCDesigns stamps with the Halloween images I posted about the other day, and immediately thought about fall and the colors and got to work making this card:

 

This is a new line CCDesigns is carrying called Roberto's Rascals - they're really cute!

This is "Playful Henry" - and y'all are getting a SNEAK PEEK of him as he's not yet available - he's part of the September CCDesigns release. I'll be posting more from that release in a couple of weeks when they're actually available!

So I stamped the Playful Henry onto some watercolor cardstock with my Versafine Onyx Black ink then used my Distress Markers and a waterbrush to color in the image.

That was another reason I didn't film while I made this card. It's been a while since I've done any watercoloring and it took me a couple of tries and a few ruined pieces of cardstock to remember what on earth I was doing LOL.

The sentiments are from my Brothers & Sisters set - this set was released some time ago and I finally got a chance to use it. I was pretty happy with how I created it so that you can customize your cards more with all the different options!

I'm pretty sure I bought this patterned paper (Bo Bunny Apple Cider Collection) last fall and never got the chance to use it. When I was going through all my 6x6 packs I came across this one and it was PERFECT with this image.

The jute packing twine I think I picked up at a dollar store years ago - I bought a couple of them years ago and can't for the life of me remember where... I used a small circle punch to punch a "notch" out of the main image to give me a spot to tie a bow. I then used some of Jody's red line adhesive circles to attach the main image to the card front - watercolor paper is a bit more difficult to adhere (I assume b/c of the fibers in it), and adhering it ove the jute like this means it either needed to be popped up on dimensionals (which I didn't want to do) or STRONG adhesive. So red-line to the rescue - and it worked just like I wanted it to *grin*.

On the inside of the card I stamped the Playful Henry image again using mustard ink - I stamped it off onto scratch paper and used the "second generation" of the ink - that way I got a lighter image so that you can write over it with a pen and not be as distracted by the stamped image.

The sentiment is from the Brothers & Sisters set - I thought it was rather fitting with this type of image!

So that's it for today's post - I plan on doing a video using the girl version of this image along with the same patterned paper and watercoloring and all that. Once I was done this card I wanted to keep using the papers and thought hey why not? But that you won't get to see for another couple of weeks (sorry!). When I made this card and typed up this post yesterday I didn't even realize that this image wasn't available - I've been out of the stamping game for so long I forgot what I was doing :P. However Christine (owner of CCDesigns) said it was OK for me to post this sneak peek for y'all so here it is!

Mini Michaels "Haul" and CCDesigns Halloween Stamps

Hey everyone - hope y'all had a great weekend :). Hubby got home from his trip Saturday night and Sunday we decided to take the girls in to the city for one last fun day before summer is over and school starts. We took them mini golphing and wall climbing (my oldest can climb like a monkey LOL - I stayed on the ground with baby - I haven't wall-climbed since high school and have no plans of taking it up again!), and went to see Despicable Me 2 - I loved it - the minions crack me up. But I find the storyline in both that one and the first one to be really sweet! It's just so cute...

Anywho - since we were in the city we made a detour to Michaels. I had a few things in mind that I wanted to get and I knew they had to have all their Halloween stuff out. Man was I disappointed. Everything's been moved around since I was there last (no big surprise it's been months since I've been there), I couldn't find ANYTHING I'd hoped to find - and there was NO Halloween papercrafting/stamping/etc stuff set out. They usually have an entire section with the punches, patterned papers, glitter and everything related to Halloween - and there was nothing. But yet they had Christmas sections for papercrafting stuff set up already - go figure :P. They had a HUGE section of H'ween home decor, and the cheap kids items etc etc - but that was it.

Needless to say I was pretty disappointed. I did however take a quick look in the "dollar" (1.50 here in Canada of course!) stamp bins and they had the new Halloween stamps - so I grabbed a few:

I think there were more stamps than what I'm showing but these were the ones that appealed to me and I didn't have any more time to dig through them all to see what was there!

I've said a few times in my videos lately that I WILL be doing a Halloween video series again this year - I don't know yet when I'll be starting it as I have a lot going on right now. My schedule up to this point has been pretty manageable - now all of a sudden I have so many things going on over the next 3 weeks or so I don't even know how it all happened LOL! But that's my life - it's never dull *wink*.

I'm REALLY looking forward to fall, and Halloween (well the Halloween series LOL - for whatever reason I enjoy the idea/colors/decor of Halloween but don't get into it much more than that...) and have all sorts of ideas and plans in the works. So make sure to stay tuned!! *wink*

Making a Card #15 VIDEO

Some days no matter what things just don't go my way LOL! I had issues getting the voiceover done on the video (as soon as I sat down the kids start fighting, the baby starts crying, phone starts ringing - never fails!), then finally got that done after a few re-do's, then I typed up this entire post and had it all ready to go and accidentally refreshed my browser :P.

Typed (my blog host) USED to have a feature that would save unfinished posts but I haven't seen that feature for some time now (which really frustrates me b/c I pay good money to host this blog so options like that would be really nice b/c I lose posts too often! And I really hate re-typing them - kind of like I hate repeating myself LOL!) soooo I'm starting this post again from scratch - ah well!

I made this card a week ago and am FINALLY getting it up here for y'all. I've been by myself with the kids all week as my hubby's been away up north on a once-in-a-lifetime fly-in fishing trip he earned through his work. He left for the Northwest Territories earlier on this week and gets back late tonight - I haven't talked to him since he left b/c the fishing lodge is somewhere up past Yellowknife and there's no cell phone reception that far north (he's about 2000km away from where we live here in SK). So while he's been fishing and catered to and having the time of his life I've been tending to everything at home - which wasn't too bad I'll admit LOL it just didn't give me much "free time" to get things like cards made or videos edited *wink*.

On a side note I'm kind of hoping for something nice for my birthday and/or Christmas when the time comes....only fair right? ;)

Making a Card #14 VIDEO

Happy weekend everyone! Although for me lately a weekend is like any other day (other than Sunday as that's the one day my hubby get's off work every week).

I actually have *another* card video to share with y'all - the one I posted the other day I said I made MONTHS ago (though a lot of people missed that - yeah I definitely didn't stamp that recently - I made it back in the spring - hubby's birthday was in March LOL) - I just had all the files on my computer so it was just a matter of editing everything and posting it.

TODAY's card is one I *just* made - and you can see the difference *wink*. I went much simpler this time around - it might take me a bit to get back in my stamping "groove".

I had to use my new MFT Happy Hello's dies that I showed in my last haul video - I just love them.

Also forgive my photo's - I'm trying to figure out editing using my Mac - I've been using my old Dell PC for YEARS and have it all down to a science - but it's only a matter of time before that thing dies on me completely (it's crashed more and more often lately :P). So now I need to figure it all out on my Mac so bear with me!

AmyR's 2013 Birthday Cards - Card 5

Hey everyone!!

I actually have a CARDmaking video for y'all today :). Technically it's not a "just stamped" card - I made it a few months ago for my hubby's birthday - but I never posted it so it's still new to all of you!

I had the files on my computer so I thought it'd be perfect for me to use to start off with as I venture back in to stamping/videos/editing/etc - and I'm glad I did. I'm pretty rusty at it all LOL - it took WAY longer to edit and voiceover and all that - my brain just had a hard time remembering everything I used to do out of habit ;).

Also my little 7 week old (7 weeks! Time is flying :() munchkin can be heard pretty much through the whole thing - she was in the studio with me in her swing and the microphone picked up all her noises and hiccups throughout my voiceover. Rather than waiting till I had some "quiet time" (which is likely never to happen lol) I just left it as is.

CCDesigns Haul VIDEO

It felt odd filming this video after not doing one for so long!! That plus the fact that this box of goodies has literally sat for WEEKS now - I just didn't have the time to deal with it when I was still pregnant and working full time, then baby showed up and I had even less time to deal LOL.

But now that I am *finally* getting back to my "old" self, and am *thisclose* to having my stamp area ready to go (we got the last heavy piece of furniture moved into place yesterday!), I'm getting everything put away and organized and this box needed to be dealt with. I say it in the video but I'll say it here too - some of the things (actually a lot of it) are no longer available on the CCD site - but they're available on the manufacturers sites so I've just linked to them there to make it all easier.
