*whew done!! Hopefully I didn't forget anything. Now off to work - have a fabulous day everyone!!*
I trust y'all had a great weekend? Mine was fine - Tim and I went to a local comedy gig Saturday night and yesterday I basically took a *lazy day* and didn't do much of anything. And honestly I needed it. Even though I felt guilty for not hacking away at all my "to-do" lists, I still NEEDED to just do nothing.
And now that my *lazy day* is behind me I have tons to do and I'm doin' them! So while the dishes are cleaning in the washer and clothes are in the washer and dryer I'm gonna get this post done before moving on to the next task.
SO - if you missed any of my previous Holiday Cardmaking posts/videos as always you can check them out at the following links:
So for today's card I pulled out one of the Recollections stamp sets that I purchased at Michaels and showed in my most recent haul videos.
And like I mention in the video the set doesn't have a name on it. I looked all over the packaging and around the bar code but there was nothing (a few numbers over the bar code but that was it). It is SO annoying that they don't name their sets!
Anywho if you don't have a Michaels near you you can check e-bay, Amazon etc etc as I've seen a lot of the Recollections sets on there for about the same price (maybe even a bit cheaper) as you'd pay at Michaels.
To see how I made the card check out the following video:
May Arts 1/2" Red Wrinkle Ribbon (I originally purchased mine from All That Scraps - they don't have any in stock anymore - I've been getting a LOT of questions about where I got this ribbon. I suggest contacting ATS to see if they can get it in again as it's a GREAT ribbon for cardmakers - and it comes in a wider width too that I wish I had now as well as the 1/2" width I have and always use)
WeR Memory Keepers Brad Setting and Piercing Tool
Purchased at Michaels: Recollections Stamp Set (angel) Brilliance Graphite Black Ink VersaMark Ink Martha Stewart Doily Edger & Snowflake Punches EK Success Small Corner Rounder Punch (I might have got that one at WalMart - can't remember)
Purchased from Stampin' Up!: Naturals Ivory, Real Red & Black Cardstocks Gold Glory Embossing Powder Heat Tool Mat Pack (w/ piercing template)
SUPER simple card. When I say in the video that it took me less than 15 minutes to put together I wasn't kidding (and that included the time I wasted trying to find my tape, cutting extra cardstock when I changed my mind on the inside, fiddling around etc etc etc).
Obviously though cards go together a LOT quicker when you have a "game plan" ahead of time. For me I already had a layout in mind, and then it was just a matter of choosing stamps, patterned paper/cardstock and embellishments. Once I had that down the card came together really easily.
To see how I made this card you can watch the following video:
This is only valid for online personal orders, not onine party orders (yeah it was just announced that we can now do "virtual GC parties" and it's all online - how cool is that? I haven't had a chance to look into it yet but if anyone is interested just lemme know...). And valid for US and Canada only (I'm in Canada but people in the US can order from my website).
OK that's it for now - I'm going to go finish editing my latest Holiday Cardmaking video...
This time of year is SO busy - I have so many things going on (my hubby's work Christmas party coming up, a local comedy night outing, my daughter's birthday, planning for Christmas, not to mention work, housecleaning, etc etc etc!!) that it's hard to keep track and stay focused!
Needless to say I am REALLY happy I updated the software on my iPhone and now have the little "Reminders" app/thing where I can make checklists. It's a lifesaver!! I'm never without my phone so being able to put in all my "to-do" lists in one spot and not having to worry about losing it makes life a tad bit easier ;o)
Anywho back to stamping.
If any of you missed any of my previous Holiday Cardmaking posts/videos check 'em all out here:
This card has NO coloring at all - quite a step out of the box for me LOL! For the past couple of years the majority of stamping I do involves line images and therefore coloring in all said images. I don't do much "solid stamping" anymore - but I like it. Especially as it's a LOT faster since you don't have to take the time to color it in!
All told this card took well under half an hour to make. Obviously I sped up the video and cut out the parts of me fiddling around so it's a lot quicker than that.
I had to pull out my Snowflake Sentiments set for this card. I haven't used this set since last year? I think it was last year we released it - who knows I can't keep track of anything anymore. Anywho it's a favorite set of mine and makes for quick cards.
And also you don't HAVE to have the Ornament dies either - a circle or oval shape would work great. Or even a square/rectangle (which was actually the plan I had in my head - this card had a whole other look before I actually sat down to make it LOL! If I have time I might try to re-create it the original way for another video - we'll see what happens)...
To see how I made this card check out the following video:
From my stash (ie purchased years ago before online shopping LOL): Vellum Paper Fiskars Hole Punch (probably available at Michaels) Brilliance Graphite Black Ink (also prolly available at Michaels) VersaMagic Sea Breeze & Wheat Inks Prima Hydrangea Flower May Arts Red 1/2" Wrinkle Ribbon
OK I've finally been able to get into TypePad to get this post up. I've been having issues all morning with the site. It is frustrating because I pay a lot for this blog BUT at the same time issues do get fixed pretty quickly....SO now that my morning was spent fiddling around with this post (and with the ATS GDMS post which you can see HERE) it's finally done and I can get on to doing some other stuff!
Anywho time for card #10!

I finally kicked all this sickness that's been going around (still a little - OK a LOT - tired but no more throat scratchiness/coughing/congestion/etc etc etc). It's been 2 weeks (and everyone around here seems to keep it for 2-3 weeks - blech) so I am ready to get back to a normal schedule!
SO - if you missed any of my previous Holiday Card Series posts/videos you can check them out here:
For today's video I actually made 4 cards but only filmed making the one - as I kept them all really similar just used different images and sentiments. Basically showing a way to mass produce but changing things up a bit (b/c if you're like me you can get bored making the SAME card over and over and over again!).
These cards LOOK really detailed and time-consuming - but in all honesty once I had it all planned out (chose my papers, images, layout, colors and embellishments etc) they came together really quickly - the longest part was the coloring and even that went quick since they're snowmen - not a whole lot to color ;)
Anywho here they are:

Well my voice as of this morning seems to be (mostly) back to normal! I have to work all day but tonight I am planning on getting some videos edited so they can FINALLY be uploaded so stay tuned!
I just wanted to hop on here really quick to call out Sandy C!! You won the stamps giveaway but I haven't received an e-mail from you yet. I'll give you 48 hours to send me an e-mail with your mailing address - if I haven't heard from you I will go back to the original post and draw another winner.
You can e-mail me at prairiepaperandink AT hotmail DOT ca (I originally put it as DOT com in the announcement post - my bad! So that's why I'm posting again b/c if you tried the DOT com then it would just get bounced back to you).
Anywho I have to head to work so hopefully y'all will be seeing and hearing from me soon! :o)
OK this post was supposed to go up last night but there's always an explanation right? *wink*
Anywho if you don't follow my facebook page <-----click! then you've missed my updates.
Basically I've been sick ALL week - I lost my voice (figures) and have been too sick to stamp and keep up with my Holiday Video Series. And of course any voiceovers can't happen 'till my voice gets better (it's STILL really scratchy and gross - this hasn't been fun).
Needless to say this couldn't come at a worse time. I have SO much stuff to do - not just for videos and here on my blog but with my family, my house and my esthetics business. I'm trying to catch up this weekend but it's hard when I still have NO energy. I thought since I'm home all day I should get cleaning and moving/organizing - even though I can hardly BREATHE - so going up and down stairs and doing laundry and dusting etc etc isn't going so well. I should just be laying down but I can't - there's too much to do!
So yeah it's been a rather rotten week/weekend. I keep hoping my voice will be back to normal ASAP (and that I can stop coughing long enough to do some editing - but the more I talk the more I cough) but it's taking it's sweet time.
**and a little sidenote - I had a lot of people commenting on me being a Scorpio/fellow Scorpio. Hate to break it to y'all but I'm a Libra - my b-day is October 19 (that's when I placed my b-day order - it arrived 2 1/2 weeks later and that's when I filmed the haul and posted it). Not that I pay much attention to horoscopes/signs/whatever (LOL it wasn't 'till my late teens/early twenties that I even knew what my sign was) - but just thought I'd point it out :o)**
I used random.org to pick 2 random page numbers and then again to pick 2 random comment numbers from those pages and the winning comments were:
CONGRATS Sandy C and Kris!!
Ladies please e-mail me ASAP with your mailing addresses at prairiepaperandink AT hotmail DOT ca so that I can mail these packages out to you.
And thank you ALL for your support, get well wishes, and letting me know where y'all are visiting from. It was pretty cool to read comments that are coming from all over the world. Coming from a tiny little community in southwestern Saskatchewan, Canada I find it all VERY cool :) ((((HUGS))))
~hope to be back posting my cards and videos SOON!
I had a fun day with my hubby in the city yesterday. The roads were horrible (we got a bunch of snow overnight and it snowed most of the day yesterday) but we made it in, got our shopping done, saw some friends and family and had a good day!
I got a couple of things from Michaels since we were near there at one point, and then today when I got the mail my last order from ATS had arrived:
Alrighty then, to be entered in to win one of the two sets of stamps I'm giving away just leave your name and where you live in the comment section of this post below. That's it. I'm keeping it simple since there's no reason to make y'all jump through hoops to win something (especially since with the last giveaway y'all had to complete several steps!).
I'll draw two random winners via random.org on Friday night (Nov 11, 2011).
Well this is going up MUCH later than I planned :(
I was having YouTube issues earlier today, and then didn't get a chance to do any stamping at all today. My house was in serious need of cleaning, laundry was in need of washing, and company was in need of chatting LOL! And tomorrow I'm going to the city with my hubby for my much-delayed "date" with him for my birthday (which was nearly 3 weeks ago) so I won't be doing any stamping tomorrow either.
Instead I'll hopefully be finishing my Christmas shopping (yup I said *finishing* - I got a good head start already and want to be done ASAP. I can't stand trying to get it all done closer to Christmas when everyone and everything is completely crazy. I want to ENJOY the Holidays!) and picking up some winter gear for the girls as it started snowing today. Winter will set in before we know it (we're actually lucky as it usually snows quite a bit before now here in Saskatchewan).
Anywho plan for a couple of days between today's post and the next one(s). I've still got all sorts of card ideas up my sleeves just not enough time in the day to get 'em done!
If you missed any of my previous Holiday Card posts/videos you can check them all out here:
Happy Friday everyone! I have card and video #4 for y'all today - and I plan on uploading #5 and #6 on Saturday and Sunday so keep checking in (I still don't know how many I'll do - we'll see what happens!).
If you missed any of the previous posts check them out here:
This is basically a quick sneak peek of stamps that will be released TOMORROW at All That Scraps. Their November release is super-cute and is all winter/snowman themed and of course I have a sentiment set that goes with it. Once the stamps are listed in the ATS store I'll come back and edit this post so that the links go direct.
So for video #2 I made a 5.5" square card. And normally I don't make envelopes for them (mostly b/c I'm lazy LOL) because usually when I'm making a large card like this I'm making it with a person/gift in mind so I just slip the card in with the gift and just don't bother with an envelope.
But this time I thought I'd show y'all a super-easy way to make a matching envelope for the 5.5" square card (and FYI I got the measurements from the pamphlet that comes with the Scor-Pal - they've got all the measurements you need for a TON of square card sizes).
To see how I made the envelope watch the following video:
Today I thought I would make a square card. I get asked a lot what size of cards do I typically make - and it's always standard A2 size (4.25" x 5.5"). If I make anything other than that size I always make sure to mention/post it.
So today's card is a 5.5" square card - and I always chose 5.5" as that is the biggest square card you can make from an 8 1/2 x 11" piece of cardstock (which is what I work with. I don't own much 12x12 cardstock as I don't have anywhere to store it).
