SNEAK PEEK - AmyR Stamps Elegant Greetings/Mixed Sentiments

I don't know about you guys but I am SO happy it's the weekend!! And for us here it's a long weekend too as Monday is a holiday so double woop!!

Anywho - today is the sneak peek day for TWO stamp sets that I designed for the August release - Mixed Sentiments and Elegant Greetings.

Mixed Sentiments was a little set of a bunch of sentiments that go with the soon-to-be-released Swiss Pixie images - you can see samples the Design Team made with all those HERE <----click!

I'll have samples to show you guys using those stamps over the next little while - for now I've got one made with Elegant Greetings:

 
This card measures 4.25" square.

I used the Echo Park For the Record 6x6 patterned paper pack for this card.

I stamped the 'Get Well Soon' from the Elegant Greetings set onto one of the patterned papers then used a Spellbinders Labels 5 dies to cut it out.

The butterflies were punched out with a Martha Stewart punch.

The ribbon is taffeta ribbon from Stampin' Up!

 
I used the same patterned papers on the inside of the card. The sentiment is also from the Elegant Greetings set - for each greeting there is a companion sentiment for the inside of the card :o)

SNEAK PEEK - CCDesigns Laugh Lines

Hello everyone!

Today starts the sneak peeks of the soon-to-be-released CCDesigns August stamps. All the new stamps will be available on the All That Scraps site Monday August 1st at 9pm CST.

Today's peeks feature a new line Christine has designed called "Laugh Lines" - and I LOVE them!!! When she first showed them to me she wasn't sure if she was going to release them - but as soon as I saw them I HAD to have them LOL.

They are SO freaking cute. Here's the first card I've made so far:

As I was looking at the images and trying to figure out how I was going to make this card my eye fell on my Bo Bunny Ad Lib 6x6 pack (EXACTLY why I try to keep everything stored in sight!) - and I thought the patterns and colors would go PERFECT with a couple of the new Laugh Lines images.

This little character is just called "Laugh". Don't you just love her? I stamped her onto CCD CQ 80lb CS with Memento Ink then colored her in with Copics.

(definitely loving just writing the Copic colors I used on a sticky note - the time it saves when editing photos is fabulous!!)

I had a heck of a time trying to pick up the shimmer on camera as I used a couple of Copic Spicas to add some glitter (the flower on her shirt, the aqua stripes on her pants, and the punched butterflies above the image) but sometimes I just can't seem to get the right angle. Ah well - it's there!

The 'smile' sentiment is from my Great Greetings set. I stamped it onto teal cardstock then used my SU! Key Tag punch to punch it out.

On the inside of the card I went simple and just lined it with a piece of patterned paper, and added a piece of white cardstock on an angle.

The little sentiment at the top is the companion to the 'smile' from the Great Greetings set. I stamped that with black ink then added a strip of one of the other papers and that was it :o)

Making a Card #9 VIDEO

Hello everyone! Was your weekend as much of a scorcher as ours was here? With the humidity (a rare thing for us living in the middle of the Canadian prairies!) the temps got to feeling like +40C - which is CRAZY.

I had no motivation to do anything when it got that hot LOL.

Anywho tho I got some filming and editing done and have a quick card-making video to share with y'all:

ANYWHO - reason why I'm bringing this up now is I got an e-mail from First Choice (the company I got the desk and units from) with a coupon code for $25 OFF purchases over $50 so I thought I'd share it.

They set up a new website so if you set up a new account (it's free) you can use the code on any purchases over $50 - including stuff on SALE. So that's what I did - one of the small units caught my eye as it would be perfect for my salon. It's already like 40% off but it still let me use the coupon code so that ended up covering the shipping (THAT's where it can get really pricey - these units are NOT light! It can cost a lot for shipping!).

Honestly I've never paid full price for any of their units. Not that I wouldn't - as I LOVE my desk and the mini stackables - they're worth every penny. But like I said they're not cheap and I've purchased everything I have either when they've had overstock sales, or coupon codes or even lucked out and combined both.

Life's a Beach

I keep a set of Post-It notes and a pencil by my bed for a reason. It NEVER fails that I'll remember something to add to the grocery list, or remember where I put something that I couldn't find, or I'll come up with a card layout/idea JUST as my head hits the pillow at night.

And unless I write it down I'll never remember in the morning.

So the other night I got the idea for the following card - so I quickly scribbled it down:

 
ROFLOL I know it's pretty rough - I was tired and just wanted to put down the basics. And if you've never done this before (putting a pad of paper/sticky notes/whatever and a pen/pencil by your bed) you should try it. I swear I come up with my BEST ideas when I'm about to fall asleep LOL!

So here's the end result:

 
The Swiss Pixie Ice Cream Birgitta image I had already stamped and colored with Copics. I then left it out as my stampin' mojo has been on the slooowwww side for the past few weeks and couldn't think of what to do with it. Hence the sticky note. Once I had that this card came together in no time.

I used a Spellbinders circle die to cut out the "sun" from patterned paper - from the MME Stella & Rose Mabel pack - and the rays were just free hand cut.

The clouds are an MFT die - and the sentiment is from my new Wish You Were Here set (which was designed to go with the June Swiss Pixie stamps).

And of course I had to use some Caribbean Baker's Twine - love that stuff!

 
I added Stickles to the sun, the ice cream and her bathing suit.

 
(it saves me a LOT of time with editing if I just take a pic of the markers with the Sticky Note that I wrote all the colors on rather than adding them in Photoshop - it's not as "professional" looking but does it really matter? People just ask for the colors I use - not that they're edited and formatted properly....)

 
On the inside of the card I followed the same idea as the front - but this time I moved the sun to the upper right corner to give space for a written message.

Again the new MFT Flat Bottom Cloud dies and the Aloha is from the Wish You Were Here set.

 

Long Weekend!

I hope all of you are enjoying your weekend so far!

For us Canadians it's a long weekend (Happy belated Canada Day!!) - and I actually booked myself a couple of extra days off so I could actually ENJOY a long weekend for once.

My husband has to work today so I'm spending the day moving everything around in my studio trying to come up with the best possible setup. And while I'm moving everything around (the only thing staying in place - for now - is the desk) I'm cleaning and purging a bit as well.

Nothing gets my creativity flowing like a whole "new" space to create in.

I'll have new videos and posts up soon - I'll be working on all sorts of things this weekend. There are a bunch of stamps and papers and embellishments that have been calling my name LOL!!

What are you guys planning on doing this weekend?
