My days are completely thrown off - it was a long weekend here for us so Monday was a holiday and the local GM dealership where my hubby works was closed so he spent the day at home with us. Since that doesn't happen very often TODAY feels like Monday and I have to keep reminding myself that it's Tuesday. LOL
As always I had all these grand plans of doing a bunch of stamping over the weekend and ended up not doing any of it. I spent extra time with my family, and then spent a TON of time getting to play with my (new to me) airbrush compressor and airbrush. Before anyone asks no I didn't get it for cardmaking (ie Copic airbrushing) I got it for nail art (I actually bought it off other techs with everything I need and got a good deal on it and couldn't pass it up). I won't rule out that I won't ever use it with Copics although I would have to get the converter thingy in order to make it work with the compressor (I think - I'm not even sure yet what I would need to be able to use it with the Copic airbrush) - but that will come later.
I ended up covered in paint as I was playing around with it (*note to self* - wear old clothes or a smock or something when airbrushing! I have pretty good aim with the airbrush but tend to forget to check if lids are closed when shaking up paints - THAT'S where I ended up covered in paint...) but I had a bunch of fun so that's all that matters ;o) I have a lot of practicing tho before I start doing it in my salon but I'm excited to finally have it - I've wanted a compressor to do airbrushed nail art for YEARS now but the price of it all always held me back. I lucked out with this one and already the wheels are spinning with ideas of what all I can do with it *grin*
ANYWHO - I had a card to share today so lets get to it:
It's Review Preview day again on the ATS blog and today the ATS DT is reviewing the latest CCDesigns Cutters Dies that were released with all the May stamps.
I used three different CCD Cutters Dies on this card - the new Butterflies and Dottie Trim Dies and then the Parenthesis Die from the April release.
The sentiments are from my Great Greetings set - when designing them I sized the sentiments to be extra-large so that they can be used on their own as the focus on a card (if you want - they work great with other images as well - gotta love versatility).
I used MME Stella & Rose Hazel papers for this card and stamped the Thinking of You onto one of the patterned papers then cut it out with the Spellbinders Labels 9 dies, which was matted with black cardstock cut with a larger Labels 9 die.
The Parenthesis Die was used on patterned paper and I sponged the edges of them with rose ink before adhering it.
The 'you're always on my mind' is also from the Great Greetings set - I used my SU Word Window punch to punch it out before adhering it to the card.
The butterflies turned out PERFECT for this card - I cut them from vellum with the Butterflies die then glued them into place with Tombow Mono Multi. I then covered them both with Stardust Stickles which as it dried it curled the vellum here and there making them more 3-dimensional. LOVE it!
I usedKaisercraft Teal Self-adhesive pearls to jazz up the bottom right corner of the card just applying them in a swirl and alternating the sizes.
The inside of the card was kept rather simple - patterned paper, more cut with the Labels 9 dies then another vellum butterfly that was adhered and this one I didn't add Stickles to.
OK that's it for now! Make sure to check out the ATS blogto see what the rest of the DT came up with today :o)
