I was blog surfing for a few minutes the other day and came across the latest TCP Tuesday Challenge.
It's been a LONG time since I've participated in any challenges (including my own! That's another story for another time tho...) and since I already had the Just Chillin' set sitting on my desk to be used (it's been my goal for the last little while to ink up all these images I have sitting here that I've never used before) I thought why not?
Obviously it was a color challenge - which takes me out of my box a little. I'm so used to using patterned papers on my cards and letting the colors on them dictate the color scheme that it makes it a little more difficult to start with JUST colors!
So I ended up shopping my 'stash and found three patterned papers from three different collections that would work together:
The pink heart paper is from My Little Shoebox called My Neighborhood - Prince Lane. The Brown dotted paper is also MLS called Turtles and Trees - No Rush! (both of which were the backs of the actual patterns), and the blue cloud paper is from Imaginisce - the Twitterpated - Hey Foxy paper (again the backside of the pattern).
The ribbon is May Arts brown Faux Suede which I'm trying NOT to hoard - but it's SO nice and there have been multiple times I reach for it to put on a card and keep putting it back!! So I MADE myself use it on this card.
The buttons are all from my stash - I attached them with brown embroidery floss.
I used a whole bunch of Copics to color in the image, then added Stardust Stickles to the "fur" on his coat. The lighting this morning REALLY picked up the sparkle!
This stamp is actually from my Underwater Sentiments set - it seemed rather fitting for this image so I had to use it. And I never (or at least can't remember the last time I did) make little sentiment "flags" but felt like it today so I did then added a little button to "attach" it to the card.
Kept the inside pretty simple (now you can see all the patterned paper) and added a sentiment that's in the Just Chillin' set.
And that was it! :o)
