Friday Sketch! (Apr 30/10)

Thank goodness for the ability to type up a post ahead of time and save it to post when I'm not around!

I'm headed out to my stamping retreat today - YAY!! I am SO looking forward to a weekend of no cooking, no cleaning, and just stamping *HUGE grin*!!

Unmounted Stamps VIDEO

Under the Weather?

As I sit here typing up this post I'm watching the snow come down......

Yup y'all heard it right - it's April 25th and it's SNOWING. We had gorgeous spring weather last week, then it started to get cold, and rainy, and now it's snowing.

Ah well! It's just another excuse for me to stay in today and get stuff done around the house :o) Besides it could be a lot worse - we could have a storm like we did 2 weeks ago or other horrendous weather - this is nothing...

I finally got my card done for the latest Friday Sketch:

Here's what I made:

 
I pulled out the Rainy Day Emma image from the newest Sugarplums kit.

I stamped her onto CCD White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink then colored her in with Copic Markers.

 
It was hard to pick up the shimmer on camera but I used my Melon Spica pen to add some shimmer to the buttons on her jacket and to the umbrella. I then dotted it onto the pocket.

All the patterned paper is from the Basic Grey Nook&Pantry collection.

I used one of the Nook&Pantry stitched brads to attch the larger Prima flower, then just used my Mono Multi to adhere the little Tiny Tots flowers.

 
The 'under the weather?' sentiment is from my Spring Sentiments set (it was made to go with the Sugarplums stamps).

I stamped it onto a piece of white cardstock then trimmed it down and rounded the edges with my Stampin' Up! Word Window punch.

 
And then to finish off the inside of the card I used more patterned paper.

I die cut the ovals using my petite ovals die (same ones were used on the main image) then stamped the 'get well soon' - also from the Spring Sentiments set - onto a strip of patterned paper then adhered it to the oval and trimmed it with scissors.

Anywho that's it for today! I've got several videos already filmed - just need to get editing them and uploading them to my YouTube channel when I have the chance. So stay tuned......

Friday Sketch! (Apr 23/10)

Sorry this is late everyone!

I had Josie's 4-year immunization appointment this morning (which she did fabulous at - all her other needles she screamed and had an awful time - so I've been dreading this one. But she just sat there and didn't shed a tear!!) and then a friend of mine is coming out for the day with her 4 year old so I gotta get my house cleaned up just a tad more!

I also got my latest All That Scraps order in the mail yesterday (I HAD to get a few new goodies!) so I'll try to film another "haul" video to show y'all what I got. Since I'm going on a stamping retreat next weekend (I am so excited!) I got some stuff I plan on using then. My goal is to hopefully get a ton of cards done!!

Lost and Found

This has to be a quick post as I need to get to work!

I found these pics in my files and never shared them on here that I can remember - I made these tags MONTHS ago for the girls - and I STILL can't find my zip ties that I intended to attach them to their bookbags with :o( The tags grew legs and I can't find them either (though I have a good idea where they went!) - but now that I've come across the pictures of them I'll hafta dig them out and attach them to the girls bookbags:

 
I bought luggage tags from All That Scraps last year - I used some of them to make tags for our luggage when Tim and I went to the Bahamas last summer (when I get home I'll search that post up and link it here), and I still had a few left over so I made one each for the girls.

I used an Anya stamp (that I can't find online for the life of me - it's not on the ATS site, nor on The Greeting Farm's site that I can see - so I assume it's retired?) that I don't even know the name of and stamped it onto CCD white cardstock with Memento ink then colored them in with Copics.

And I don't know which Copics I used - sorry!! This is a horrible post eh? I made these so long ago I can't remember which colors I used!

I added Lavender Stickles to their hair clips for a little more bling.

 
The ovals were cut with one of my Spellbinders dies.

The butterfly rhinestones are from Michaels - those little packs in the dollar bins (that I DO remember LOL!).

I stamped their names using my little alphabet stamps that I also got at Michaels (the Studio G ones that are also in the dollar bins).

To finish them off I attached different ribbons to the tags and like I said planned on attaching them to their bookbags with zip ties.

Now if I could just FIND those darn zip ties......   

Sketch Sample for Apr 16 2010 Friday Sketch!

Well this is a lot later than I planned - but I finally got my card done for the latest Friday Sketch!

Anywho here's my card:

 

I pulled out my Butterflies set for this card, along with the Basic Grey Origins patterned papers.

I stamped the largest butterfly using Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto the yellow patterned paper from the pack, then colored it in with Copics.

I then added some Crystal Stickles and after they dried I cut it out.

I stamped the sentiment from the Butterflies set with Memento Ink as well.

After adding May Arts ribbon and some black brads the card was done!

I finished off the inside of the card by adding some more Origins papers.

I used one of my rectangle nestabilities dies to cut out one of the papers then matted it with black cardstock before adhering it and that was it!

Friday Sketch! (Apr 16/10)

Sorry this is a little late going up folks! I worked a 12 hour day yesterday and was too beat to make a card for this sketch or even get the sketch posted.

So here's the sketch now and I'll get my card made and posted soon!

Friend Kiki

Hey everyone!

I have another Kiki card to share today - this time using the new Puppy Kiki La Rue image from ATS.

 

When making this card I went through my old sketches and decided to use Sketch 71 for this card.

I stamped the Puppy Kiki La Rue image onto CCD White Cardstock then colored her in with Copic markers.

I used my Ranger White gel pen to add the polka dots and the highlights.

I cut out the image with one of my Spellbinders oval dies then cut a scalloped oval from patterned paper (more My Mind's Eye Quite Contrary patterned paper) to mat it.

The sentiments are from my All Women set. I stamped 'Friend' with black ink then stamped the 'Thinking of You' under it.  

I used the largest of the Tags Trio dies to cut out the sentiment then adhered it to the card with part of it hanging off (which I just trimmed off with scissors). To fill the hole in the tag I added a sugar-coated DoodleBug brad.

On the inside of the card I used more patterned paper and basically just flipped the sketch I used for the outside to make the inside a little different. :o)

Coriander Fairy - a Card and TWO Videos!

OMGosh - I did two separate videos for this card - and it took me FOREVER to get them edited and uploaded!!

The editing and uploading process for a video takes HOURS - and (for me) after it's uploaded I have more editing to do as I add links and annotations and whatnot and all of that takes time - something of which I don't have much of (that's why I have started posting and uploading more on the weekends as that's generally when I have a leetle more free time - for now anyway *grin*). And doing two videos for one project took a lot more time than I originally thought - but they're done and I hope you guys like 'em!

I DO enjoy the process though (now that I've done so many the sound of my own voice doesn't bother me as much as it used to - neither does showing my face on camera. After a while I got used to it so yay for that!). And I am glad at the response I've gotten from my videos - it's nice to know that they are appreciated and that some of you are learning new things from them!

**Also - I've had people ask if it's OK to send their friends links to my blog, or to my videos or to my YouTube channel. Yup it's totally fine! I do all this to share it with you guys so if you want to share it with YOUR friends/family that is great!**

Now onto the card:

 
This uses the new Coriander fairy image from the Sweet November line that was just released at All That Scraps.

 
I stamped the image onto CCD White Cardstock then colored her in with Copic Markers.

After coloring her I added Lime Green Stickles to her dress and Crystal Stickles to her wings.

I did a second video of me making the card. After my first card making video I got requests for more. For me this is a more difficult video to make as I pretty much fly by the seat of my pants when making a card.

I don't plan much ahead of time - sometimes I'll have an idea for a layout, or know what papers I'm going to use - but generally I just sit down and create. So trying to capture that on video isn't easy - especially when my videos need to be under 10 minutes in order to upload them to my YouTube channel!

So I have to get creative with the editing in order to fit it all in:

I said in the video - the sentiments are from my new Big Words and Handy Additions sets. Since I've got these sets and started using them I'm finding that I really love stamping the Big Words in colored ink and the Additions in black ink. It's something I had in mind when I created the sets - but it looks so much better in real life LOL!

 
This was the inside of the card. I didn't include it in the video b/c I already had well over 20 minutes (or maybe 30? I lost track) that I had to cut down to under 10 so I just left the camera off and finished the inside and decided to just post it here :o)

I die cut a piece of white cardstock with a scalloped rectangle die then stamped a sentiment from the Handy Additions set onto the bottom of it with the same Garden Green ink I used on the front.

I matted that with crown cardstock and added some more patterned paper to the inside of the card and that was it!

Stamping Getaway!!

I am SO excited - Juliehas set up another stamping retreat to Camp Kadesh (Christopher Lake, SK)- this is the 3rd time we're going!

It's at the end of the month - Friday April 30th to Sunday May 2. 

I posted about the retreat the first timeand the second timeI went - if you click on those links it will take you to the posts.

We're going to the same place this year - and at first I didn't think I'd be able to go as I had clients schedulled but I was able to re-schedule and now I can go - YAY!

There are a *few* spots left (as of yesterday there were only 6) - if you're close by and would like to come!

3rd Annual Stamp and Scrap Getaway Weekend

I'm so looking forward to an entire weekend of stamping - and NO cooking! Julie's sister-in-law is catering as she's done the previous 2 - and I kid you not it's worth it to go just for the food alone LOL! Even though I'm still doing IsagenixI plan on fully enjoying my one meal a day (there will be more meals obviously but with Isagenix I only have one meal a day and their shakes in place of the other 2).

Hello Chica! Sketch Sample for Friday Sketch! (Apr 9/10)

I woke up this morning to silence - the wind's stopped!! YAY!!

It was still blowing pretty fiercly yesterday - we all went to the city (we were supposed to go on Friday b/c Veronica had a dentist appointment and I needed to get supplies for the salon - obviously with the weather that all got cancelled) as I still needed to get my supplies.

The highway wasn't the greatest - it was still REALLY windy - but Tim was driving so it was all good. It amazes me how bad other drivers are though. We drive in snow about 6 months out of the year - and we get a couple of weeks of good weather and when we get snow again a bunch of people can't drive normally - it's a pet peeve of mine LOL.

 We took the girls to How To Train Your Dragon 3Dat the theatre - I gotta say I enjoyed it more than they did LOL!! It was a really good movie! The story was great and the 3D was fun (I've seen 3D movies before - it's always best when they're REALD 3D - much better quality). Thankfully I had a free movie earned on my scene card - going to 3D movies is expensive!!

Anywho - now that the wind's died down hopefully it warms up enough to melt the 4 foot drifts in my front yard!

Now here's the card I made for my latest Friday Sketch!

 
 I used the new Swiss Pixies Nora on a Swingimage for this card

The image with the branch and whatnot is quite large - if you cut out the entire image it takes up a LOT of a standard A2 card - BUT if you cut out the branch separately and adhere it on top it's perfect!

 

So that's what I did. I stamped the image onto CCD white cardstockwith Memento inkthen colored her in with Copic markers

I then diecut around the image with one of my petite oval diesand matted it with a scalloped oval.

The image was stamped a second time (this time just inking up the top of it) and I colored just the branch and cut it out.

All the patterned paper is from the My Little Shoebox line.

Since I added little polka dots to her shirt with my white gel pen - I decided to use some May Arts sheer ribbonthat's also polka-dotted :o)

The sentiment is from my Big Words and Handy Additions sets.

I stamped the 'hello' using Brilliance Rocket Redink, then stamped the 'chica!' over it with black ink.

Even though I created the sets - now that I'm actually USING them - I am loving them even more LOL! There's a huge difference between picturing in my head how it's all going to look to actually inking the stamps up and using them on my cards *grin*.

On the inside of the card I lined it with more patterned paper, then die cut an oval from the pink paper (which is the opposite side of one of the MLS papers - they're all double-sided), then matted it with a scalloped oval.

And that was it!

The View Today!

Tim managed to make it to work (I still can't fathom why he bothered - in this weather I doubt anyone would be out to buy a vehicle - he's a salesman at the local GM dealership - but anywho....) later in the morning today.

Side note - the dealership is on the highway just on the edge of town here - so whenever the weather is bad they pretty much get it full force. The wind was so bad today that one of the entrance doors (all metal and glass) was ripped right off it's hinges.

When he came home for lunch he took my camera out (again I wasn't too sure about that decision either - it was still REALLY windy - still is - and snow blowing - but he insisted - and my camera is getting old and just mebbe if he broke it I'd be able to get a newer one *wink* - but he didn't break it) - and got a few shots of the front yard and side yard.

I took one picture of the back yard - from the comfort of the living room through the window LOL!

Here's what it looks like today:

That's about a 4 foot or higher drift. There was NO snow anywhere here yesterday - it's April!

And now the backyard:

Josie's been bugging me ALL day to let her go out and play in the snow. She got her toque out and said she's wear her ski pants and boots. She wasn't too impressed with me for saying no. She doesn't understand that with this wind (still gusting up to 100km and hour!) she'd prolly get blown away!
