For those that are curious - my day working at the other salon yesterday went well! I was EXHAUSTED though - working 8 hours with nearly 2 hours of commuting is something I am glad I won't have to do very often (and I know some people do that every day - and even MORE - and I don't know how they do it! I love living in a small town - my "commute" is like 5 minutes LOL!) but it was cool to get out and work with other people for a change! Since yesterday was my first day we'll see how it all goes in the future....
Anywho I was commissioned to make a card not too long ago for a friend that wanted a "funky wedding card" - as in not the traditional type.
I knew immediately I wanted to use my hitchedandfellabella image - then it took a little brainstorming for what I could do to make it "non-traditional" - well this is what I came up with:
I used my new Basic Grey Origins stufffor the card - definitely not something one would prolly "go-to" for Wedding themed projects but I thought it turned out pretty cute!!
I stamped the hitchedandfellabella onto white cardstock(Memento Ink) and colored them in with Copics.
Since I was matching them up the the colors in the Origins papers I added a slight tint of green to her dress using really pale colors, and colored his tux brown instead of black.
While I was coloring I wasn't sure if it was all going to work out but once the image was finished I was happy with the end result!
And of course I HAD to add some *bling* - so I dotted a bunch of Crystal Stickles onto her dress and her little tiara and veil - so sparkly!
I die-cut the image with one of the Labels 4 dies, and punched a hole with my MM Ribbon Slot punch to make room for the textured ribbon.
There are no reds in the Origins papers but after coloring the Bella's roses red I decided to pull in a bit of red to make the whole card work.
So I grabbed a couple of Primas from my stash and attached them with one of the Origins Stitched brads.
I then stamped the sentiment (from the Love Sentiments set) onto a piece of red cardstock and die cut it with one of the Label Trio dies.
Finally on the inside of the card I added more patterned paper and a piece of white cardstock that I cut with the Labels 4 die.
I then stamped another sentiment from the Love Sentiments setonto red cardstock and this time cut it out with a Double End Tag die.
Normally I wouldn't add brads to the INSIDE of a card as it just makes it even more bulky.
However I didn't want to just leave it as is b/c it looked funny with the holes exposed on either side of the sentiment.
AND since this was commissioned and I assume it's being hand-delivered I added the brads and I likes it! *grin*
That's it for today! And I *think* this card also qualifies for this week's Bellariffic Friday challenge (it might not b/c I used a non-Stamping Bella sentiment). I've been wanting to play along with those challenges ever since the beginning but with my work schedule I can rarely get cards done during the week and submitted in time! So if this one works for it then YAY - and if not I'll just hafta do another challenge LOL :o)
