Detail Cutting VIDEO Tutorial

OK I did a quick video this morning showing how I cut out a stamped image.

This one only took 2 takes - the other video I was working on took a few more and I'll post that later.

It is REALLY hard some days to attempt to do videos - as soon as I start Josie usually decides it's time to freak out over something and all you can hear is her screaming and crying because Veronica isn't sharing or whatever. So I have to stop whatever I'm doing, calm her down (and give back the toy!) then go back to re-doing the video (my camera only takes videos in 10 minute spurts - and I haven't yet figured out how to splice more than one video together - so usually if I get interrupted I have to start everything over from scratch!!).

Anyone who's a mom gets it - it's the same thing with the phone - as soon as someone calls or you pick up the phone to make a call the kids go nuts. Why is that?? Mine will be playing quietly and getting along beautifully UNTIL I start a video or get on the phone. Then all he** breaks loose!! My mom just loves when I complain to her about it - payback is sweet as she says me and my siblings were the same way LOL.

ANYWAY - here's my quick little video on cutting out images - I hope it helps!

Happy Spring!!

This post was supposed to go up WAY earlier today - but of course when I went to take pics of the card my camera battery was dead.

So now it's charged, I got the pics taken and uploaded to my 'puter - and here's the card!:

 

Technically this is supposed to be an Easter card for someone who ordered one from me - but since I didn't have any "Happy Easter" stamps on hand I made it into a "Happy Spring" card instead!

The stamps are from CC Designs Spring Thing! set - I've been dying to use the bunny image (how CUTE is he??) along with this gal with the bunny ears - she reminds me of Josie. I got the girls those headbands with the bunny ears last year for Easter and Josie still wears hers most day. I'll have people over and she's running by with purple bunny ears on her head - it's just hilarious.

Anywho - the ribbon is from My Little Ribbon Shop. The pink and green cardstocks are DoodleBug by Bazzill, and the brads are Bazzill as well.

I stamped the images onto CCD White cardstockthen colored them in with Copics.

I used myQuickie Glue pen on the girl's bunny ears and on the bunny then covered them both with white fun flock so that they're all fuzzy.

The fence was stamped, colored and cut out and matted over the aqua cardstock that I ran through my CuttleBug with theSwiss Dots embossing folder.

I used my white gel pen to add the polka dots to the shirt as well as to make a few highlights.

Both the girl and the bunny are popped up on dimensionals.

 For the inside of the card I just stamped the fence using a pale aqua ink then added a strip of the same DoodleBug green cardstock.

I stamped and colored another bunny image, covered it with white fun flock and adhered it to the inside of the card and that was it!

You're an Angel

I got a card done! Yay me! LOL

FYI the Beyonce concert was awesome - she put on a great show and man can she sing!! Well more like sing and dance and change outfits for two straight hours - I don't know how she does it but it was a pretty cool thing to watch.

After it was over it took us forever to get out of the parking lot then another hour and some drive home for me - needless to say I was exhausted and I REALLY wanted to sleep in this morning, but couldn't since Tim had to work and the girls like to get up at the crack of dawn. Ah well it was all worth it!

Once I was fully awake this morning *wink* I made a card for my latest Friday Sketch!:

 

I pulled out my Angel Anya stamp and stamped it onto CCD White Cardstock then colored her in with my Copics. And of course my camera totally picked up on the pink of her dress and made it look WAY brighter than it really is - it's more like the light pink of the card base.

This May Arts ribbon from My Little Ribbon Shop is what inspired the colors for this card.

After I had colored Anya I cut her out then used Crystal Stickles on her wings, halo, and hair.

I also added polka dots to her dress with my white gel pen.

The sentiment is from Stamping Bella - it fit perfectly in the space and makes this a sweet thank you card of sorts I think!

All the colored cardstock is DoodleBug Bazzill.

The sparkly brads are also by DoodleBug.

I lined the inside of the card with white cardstock and added a strip of the pale green and the darker pink that I punched with my Martha Stewart Scalloped Lace punch and that was it!

Friday Sketch! #55

Here's the newest sketch! I can't wait to see what y'all make with it!

My sample will be posted sometime tomorrow. Tim took today off so that he can spend the day with Veronica and Josie as I'm headed to the city to get supplies (for my gel nails and pedicures and whatnot) and then to go to the Beyonce concert with a friend!! I've heard she puts on a great show so I'm pretty excited about it (that and the fact I rarely go anywhere so any chance to get out and do something is great in my book).

So I'll be back later with a sample!!

Thank you all for your well wishes. My back feels MUCH better now - a hot bath and a couple of muscle/back pain releiver pills did the trick. I still need to start going back to the chiro on a regular basis as I know that will make a huge difference.

Also - I got several questions as to where I live after this post - I'm in Saskatchewan. So having snow at the end of March isn't a surprise - it's just depressing though. Especially as we'll have a warm day and we'll feel like spring is FINALLY here, then the next day it's blizzarding out. No joke!

This is what we woke up to this morning:

 

Yesterday it was COLD and it snowed last night and this morning :o( It's so depressing!

I don't have anything crafty to share at the moment, my back is worse - to the point where it hurts to do anything. Even sitting here typing this hurts! If this doesn't get better soon (or gets worse) I'll have to see if I can get in to see my doctor.

HOWEVER - since I don't have anything crafty to share I'll link y'all to somewhere that does!

The ATS Wednesday challenge was posted today and the DT made some awesome samples - so check that out HERE <------click! It just hit me that the white on white challenge was more than appropriate for the weather we're having right now - wah!!!

I even got the cutest plastic (100% recyclable - bonus!) deck chairs the other day in bright colors hoping that it would warm up enough for us to USE them. No chance - they're out on the deck with a dusting of snow on them. When it warms up a bit I'll take a picture of them b/c they really ARE super cute.

K that's all I got for now - I need to find something I can do that won't aggravate the spots on my back that are killing me!

Hot Stuff!

  

I got another custom order for a card the other day, and it needed to be a birthday card for a guy. We decided on grillafella for the card, so I got to work!

I stamped the fella onto white cardstock then colored him in with my Prismacolors and Gamsol.

I also masked his feet and stamped one of A Muse's clear ovals using green ink (tutorial here) to ground the image.

The BBQ was made shiny with my sakura clear glaze pen.

I ran the red cardstock through my CuttleBug using the Houndstooth embossing folder, added some ribbon from My Little Ribbon Shop, and sniped some green cardstock to make the grass.

I didn't have any sentiments that I wanted (that I know of - there's a good chance I DO have one I just couldn't find it and I was pressed for time!) so I typed this one up in Word then printed it off onto white cardstock. After trimming the CS I snipped the edge to make a flag then attached it to the card with a mini brad.

On the inside of the card I added a layer of Kraft cardstock, then added some more of my faux grass.

The Happy Birthday sentiment was also typed up and printed as I wanted it to match the font on the front!

I love how it turned out (as does the gal who ordered it thank goodness) - I just wish I had made something like this for Tim when his b-day was a couple of weeks ago!!

Seems like I get a total brain block when trying to come up with masculine cards for anyone in my family - but when someone orders one from me I can come up with an idea no problem!! AURGH!!

I'm glad she likes this one tho - and I hope her hubby does too!! :o)

Far Out

Well I had planned on stamping and posting a lot earlier today - but I woke up this morning with a knot or a kink or something in my back and it's making it difficult to do anything! I have a client booked for a pedicure later this afternoon as well so I'm not sure how that is going to go.

Anywho I whipped up this quick card using the My Cute Stamps Space Ships & Robots set (and OMG when I just went over there to link I see she's got a bunch of new sets!! Darnit there's a good 4 or 5 sets that I am gonna have to have! *wink*):

 

I used Cosmo Cricket Cogsmo papers for the card, and stamped the images from the MCS set onto white cardstock with colorbox inks. The Far Out! sentiment comes in the set - I just curved it on the acrylic block before inking it up and stamping it.

The ribbon is from My Little Ribbon Shop.

I used my Marve mega and gigacircles to punch out the white and black cardstock, then mounted everything on a card base of Apricot Appeal (SU!) cardstock - sounds funny but that color actually goes well with the Cogsmo papers!

On the inside I just added a strip of the same patterned paper, then added a circle that I had stamped the robot and the nuts and bolts onto.

I finished it off by stamping the screws in a row above the patterned paper and that was it!

Love Birds - sample for Friday Sketch! #54

I actually did some stamping - yay me!! I'm still on my spring cleaning bender (even tho it STILL hasn't warmed up much - heck it even snowed a bit last night!) and as a result my creative mojo has taken a dive.

I got a little package in the mail yesterday with some ribbon from My Little Ribbon Shop so I was bound and determined to use some of it for today's card - along with theFriday Sketch! I posted yesterday.

After a lot of fiddling here's the end result:

   

I used myPretty Birds and The Landing Pad sets by Kim Hughes for CHF.

The colors were inspired by this May Arts ribbon. I stamped the branch onto white cardstock then colored it in with Prismacolors and Gamsol.

The birds were stamped and colored separately then cut out and adhered with dimensionals.

The light pink felt flower is from Stampin' Up!, the bitty ones are Primas from my stash.

The sentiment is from the Pretty Birds set - I used my stamp positioner to stamp it onto one line.

I kept the inside simple by adding a strip of kraft cardstock that I stamped with the same branch and lightly added color to with the Prismacolor pencils.

I had a little of the pink cardstock left over so I adhered that too and that was it!

I noticed several of you using the new Ketto stamps from Stamping Bella - I am SO jealous - I LOVE and I mean LOVE those stamps - I plan on owning them ALL *evil laugh* (someday!!! ;o))

OK on to the roundup - there were a lot more to go through - and SO many cards that I just loved - but I'm only featuring 10 here. When I try to do more than that more often than not my 'net freezes up and I lose everything.

2 Quick Cards

Well I never did any stamping today like I hoped - instead I spent the day de-cluttering and putting things away.

I also played dentist and pulled Veronica's loose tooth! No joke. Her two front top teeth have been loose for some time now and the one was just barely hanging on and really bothering her and making it difficult for her to eat - so I asked her if she wanted me to pull it and she said yes (this isn't something new - I ended up pulling one of her loose bottom teeth for the same reason last year. With that one tho I didn't tell her before hand - I just used a cloth and a quick pull and it was out).

This one came out quick and she said it only hurt "a teeny bit" - she's all proud of herself now that she has another tooth to put under her pillow for the tooth fairy (which she knows is us and means money!). And I'm proud of her b/c she wanted me to pull it and just sat calmly and let me do it! So now she can get back to eating normally - at least till the other tooth decides it's time to come out.

Then we spent time playing outside - it got to about 7 above (Celsius) which is SO nice right now (and I don't even wanna hear how warm/hot it is for some of y'all - we've still got a ton of snow on the ground - so anything above zero is fabulous LOL!!).

ANYWHO - I have 2 super-quick and super-easy cards to share - I whipped them up yesterday to demo for a group of ladies and since that's all the stamping I've done lately they'll have to do!

 

Quick and simple using all Stampin' Up! supplies and their Flight of the Butterfly and Inspired by Nature sets.

 

Another quickie using the Fifth Avenue Floral and SAB Congrats set along with the Top Note die and SAB ribbon.

Tired...

I've had a long couple of days and little-to-no stampin' time - so nothing new to share at the moment sorry! :(

A True Friend...

I do have a card to share after all my blah blah blah.

But first sorry for not posting since Friday!! Tim's birthday was on Saturday, we didn't do anything as he worked all day and there was nowhere to go (I'm hoping once the weather is nicer we can go to the city for a date night and see a movie or something) but I cleaned house and started on my list of things that need to be sorted and organized around the house (still a long way to go but I'm getting there!).

I also moved all my nail/pedicure stuff downstairs and set up my "studio" for that - that took up most of Saturday as well (but felt SO good to get done!).

Yesterday I had company for a good chunk of the day then ended up taking a nap b/c I had a wicked tension headache. I was in no mood to be on the computer as that always aggravates the tension and brings on a migraine - blech.

It rained overnight - note we still have a ton of snow on the ground and had -30 temps just a few days ago. So rain right now = NOT good. I woke up to almost blizzard like conditions covering a thin coat of ice over everything - nice!! It's the middle of March but looks like the middle of December here. At least it's not as cold as it's been!

So that was me weekend - busy busy and now I'm just hoping for Spring!! I guess since this rotten weather is keeping me inside I can continue to work on cleaning/organizing the house.

 

I made this card before the weekend. I pulled out my new Stampin' Up! butterfly die (that I've had for a good couple of months and never used!) and myFriend Sentiments set and made this card :o)

I die cut some SU cardstock and some Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday patterned paper, then layered two of the butterflies together.

I used A Muse micro twinkle stickersfor the "body" of the butterfly, then attached it to the cardstock with dimensionals.

I used SU!'s Spiral and Corner Rounder punches on the gridline cardstock before stamping the sentiment and adding theribbon and whanot.

The larger rhinestones are from my stash, as are the Primas. The little felt flowers are from SU!.

I lined the inside of the card with the same papers used on the front, stamped another sentiment from theFriend Sentiments set then added another of the die cut butterflies.

The smaller yellow butterfly was punched with a Martha Stewart punch.

Sample for Friday Sketch! #53

OK here's the card I made for the sketch - don't forget that if you participate in this week's sketch you'll be entered in to win a $20 Stamping Bella gift certificate! Details about that in the Friday Sketch! #53 post <------click!

 

I pulled out my daisybella stamp for my sample and stamped it onto CCD white cardstock and colored it in with my prismacolor pencils and gamsol.

After the image was colored I cut it out with one of my circle nesties dies.

I then decided I wanted to use this friends are flowers sentiment from my Friend Sentiments set with this bella.

This sentiment is straight - but since it's a narrower one (and I trimmed it pretty darn close!) and is on thin EZmount it is easy to curve it - so I was able to make it curve to fit the shape of the circle.

Normally doing something like this I would stamp the main image THEN stamp the sentiment (to make sure it all turned out right) then color it - just in case I screwed something up.

Since I had already colored in the bella I was REALLY careful stamping the sentiment so that I didn't mess it up - thankfully it turned out OK :o)

All the patterned paper is from the new Basic Grey Marrakech collection, as are all the brads.

The ribbon is May Arts, the Primas and felt flowers are from my stash.

On the inside of the card I stamped daisybella onto the base with Groovy Guava (retired from SU!) ink that I stamped off once, then I stamped another sentiment from my Friend Sentiments set at her feet.

I cut some more of the patterned papers that I used on the front and that was it!
