Sketch Flip Card

This has to be a quick post - I'm making a batch of cookies for the girls and want to have them done before they get back from their grandparents house!

 

I whipped up this card yesterday in no time - I already had all the supplies sitting out from the Friday Sketch! #45 card. I decided to use the same sketch to make it even faster - just flipping it to suit the ice cream image in the Sweet Chocolate set:

I also moved the ribbon up a little higher so that I could stamp the "Sweet Wishes" sentiment.

I used Copics to color in the ice cream cone, which was cut out with a long rectangle nestabilities and matted with a scalloped rectangle.

I added some shimmer via a Gold Copic Spica pen to the ice cream cone - it seemed to be "needing something" so this worked!

I used my CuttleBug and the Argyle Embossing folder (that's on sale right now at ATS!) on the caramel cardstock, then added some Basic Grey Bittersweet buttons for the circle elements on the card.

For the inside I just lined it with the same pink paper used on the front, then added another layer of cream CS that I stamped the cone image onto and colored in with Copics.

I added the gold Spica for shimmer to this one too even tho you can't see it in the picture!

Gotta run and get those cookies made!

Friday Sketch! #45

This is post #4 for today - make sure to scroll down!

OK here it is! It's a good think I took a break. I was beyond frustrated earlier with all my technical difficulties!!

I had to pull out anotherMy Cute Stamps set - it's just a given that I would have to own the Sweet Chocolate set! I am a self-confessed chocoholic - and at least these are fat and sugar free *wink*

I stamped the images with VersaMark onto vanilla cardstock then embossed them with (get this) - CHOCOLATE scented embossing powder. How cool is that? It just makes you want to eat the card (however I did resist - I love chocolate but I'm not that crazy LOL!).

I colored the strawberries in with my Copics, and stamped and embossed the little chocolates and colored those as well before cutting them out.

The main image was cut out with a long rectangle nestabilities die then matted with a long scalloped rectangle.

The patterned paper is the new Basic Grey Bittersweet - I stitched it onto the card with my sewing machine (I've had it upstairs while I've attempted to make some curtains and was too lazy to go up there every time I wanted to sew on a card! I finally gave up (for now) on the curtains and put the machine back in my studio where it belongs!). I used more of my new May Arts ribbon, and some mini brads to finish off the card front.

I finished off the inside by lining it with the rest of the one paper I used on the front, then added a scalloped rectangle cut from a scrap of vanilla cardstock (this time using the regular scalloped rectangle dies).

I stamped the one heart shaped chocolate in the cottom corner, embossed it with the chocolate EP then colored it in with the same Copics and that was it!

Roundup - Friday Sketch! #44 Submissions

OK after having a TON of internet issues this afternoon I am going to post all the cards that participated in Friday Sketch! #44 in their own post then the new sketch post will follow after.

Having the new system for my blog means I can FINALLY do a picture graph thingy for y'all - then all you have to do is click on the pictures to be taken to the creator's blog/gallery page with the full image and all the info!

It's taken me FOREVER to get this all worked out - and I think in the future I *might* have to limit how many I "Roundup" - trying to upload this many pictures then linking and editing and all that takes up a LOT of time. I don't know yet how I will do it tho (my top 10 favorite? 10 Random? The first 10?) - any suggestions?

Technical Difficulties

OK the Friday Sketch post is going to be even later than planned sorry!! My 'net is acting up and I keep losing the post and everything keeps crashing on me - so before I throw my computer through a window I'm going to take a break from all of this and come back later. Hopefully it will work then darnit!

Review Preview Friday

**FYI my Friday Sketch! post will be up sometime later today. I still need to actually make the sketch pic and whatnot, and type up the post - so look for that later!**

OK today is Review Preview Friday over on the ATS Blog - this Friday we're previewing my latest stamp releases -Wedding and Love Sentiments. So I obviously had to make a card for this!:

 

I whipped up this card last night and kept it pretty simple. I JUST got the new Basic Grey Bittersweet paper pack, buttons and brads so I had to use them on this card.

I stamped the cake from my Wedding set onto white cardstock using Memento Rich Cocoa Ink then colored it in with these Copics (click on the pic to get a pop-up window with a larger image).

I used my Labels 2 dies to cut out the image, sponged it with brown ink then matted it with a larger labels 2 cut from some of the BG patterned paper.

I added Cotton Candy Stickles to the "icing" on the cake, then added dabs of Christmas Red Stickles.

The tiny prima flower was attached with a mini brad.

The ribbon is newMay Arts ribbon that ATS got in recently - I am LOVING this ribbon! It ties fabulously and is the perfect width IMO (in my opinion!).

I stamped the sentiment (also form the Wedding set) along the top of the card, sponged all the edges and added some Bittersweet buttons to the bottom and that was it!

I kept the inside really simple by just lining it with papers from the Bittersweet pack, then cutting out another Label 2 from White CS and adhering a small strip of the pink patterned paper to it.

Robot Birthday

Whew! Well I'm feeling better, and Veronica is fine too now. Thank you all AGAIN for the get-well wishes (I know I've been pretty under the weather since the New Year! Hopefully I can kick these bugs and be done with them as I'm sick of being sick!).

My to-do list - around the house as well as with my stamping, and stamp set designing - is MILES long now. I really don't know how I'll ever get caught up now but I'll think of something. I picked a bad time to fall ill (that's how it always seems tho!).

Another thing that happened over the past couple of days is that my blog was switched over to TypePad's new interface (or whatever it's called). For all you readers this won't change a thing - for ME it's going to be interesting. I know pretty well how to navigate the system since the ATS blog has been on the new servers for some time now - but I've been used to using all the original settings for here. This will take some getting used to!

Anywho I did manage to get one whole card done over the past couple of days (pathetic I know - but my stamping mojo definitely went missing while I was sick and still hasn't come back!). I used another one of my new My Cute Stamps sets - this time the Space Ships & Robots set:

 

I HAD to get the Robot set - it's so cute and I am sorely lacking in anything little boy related when it comes to making cards. It also gave me the perfect opportunity to pull out my Cosmo Cricket Cogsmo papers and blackboard. It was all just meant to go together!

I stamped the robot and the "accessories" onto a piece of white cardstock then cut them out with my Nesties Labels 2 die. 

I used VersaMagic and Brilliance inks to stamp the images (you can click on any of these pics to get a pop-up window with a larger view) - I LOVE the coverage of these inks - especially when it comes to clear stamps!

The Happy Birthday sentiment is from MFT's Sassy Sayings set.

The blackboard embellishments came in the Cogsmo blackboard set, and in the Cogsmo paper kit there's a die-cut sheet of images that fit all the blackboard. So all I had to do was pop out the right paper images, glue them onto the blackboard pieces (I used Tombow Mono Multi), then sand the edges a bit (this Basic Grey sanding kit is a MUST have when covering chipboard - I don't know how I lived without it!).

I finished off the inside of the card by lining it with the same Cogsmo papers used on the front, the adding another piece of white cardstock cut with one of the Labels 2 dies.

I stamped the cupcake image (which if you look really closely doesn't have a cherry on top - it's actually a bolt - I love that little attention to detail!) in the various inks that I used on the front and that was it!

So NOT Fun

Here I was getting better from the flu and cold I had and now I'm worse and Veronica is staying home from school today b/c she's sick too. So I feel like crap, Veronica feels like crap and Josie is being an emotional 3 year old (I have to agree with whoever said it's not the terrible two's but the terrible THREE's - she's been a handful these past few weeks and is driving me nuts!).

I gotta deal with the kiddo's today - hopefully I can squeeze in just a little stamping time!

Josie's freaking out over something so I have to run!

Wedding Day Bella

This was such a simple card to make but I love the result!:

I pulled out my sposabella stamp and my Love Sentiments set and whipped up this card this morning after I dropped Veronica off at school.

I stamped the bella onto white cardstock then colored her in with my Copics. It took only a couple of minutes as there really isn't much coloring needed - I outlined her dress using the BG10 marker to make it appear "white" then colored the rest normally and that was it :o)

I used my oval nestabilities to cut her out, then cut out a scalloped oval from the same cardstock.

I used StarDust stickles on the image, and added some A Muse micro twinkle stickers to the flowers along the bottom of her dress.

The butterflies are a Martha Stewart punch, I punched them out of vellum then attached them to the card (a Quickie Glue pen is perfect for that), then added more twinkle stickers to them to hide the adhesive.

The 'Happy Wedding Day' is from my Love Sentiments set.

I finished off the inside of the card by lining it with red cardstock, then adhering another scalloped oval cut from white. I stamped the sentiment (also from the Love Sentiments set) onto the strip of aqua mist cardstock before adhering it over the oval.

I finished it off with a couple more vellum butterflies and twinkle stickers and that was it!

Love Froggies

Well this past week went by in a flash - I recovered from that flu bug then came down with a cold that I'm still battling. It's also snowing again - which means more shovelling (which is prolly how I got the cold in the first place - I shouldn't have been out there after just getting the flu but we literally had drifts in the driveway and I had nail clients coming over and no one to take care of the snow!). At least the girls so far have been feeling pretty good (tho the days when they can't get along and just fight the entire time is trying my patience like nothing else!) as well as Tim. I seem to be the only one getting sick!

I AM feeling better today though. Tim went ice fishing (something I will NEVER get - you couldn't pay me enough $$ to go sit out on the ice in a tent and watch a bunch of holes in the cold. Seriously I do not see how that can be considered fun????), and the girls are with their grandparents for a while. So I've been cleaning house and playing a bit on the Wii (best time when there's no one around to whine when is it their turn - Tim included *wink*).

I finished up this card yesterday and thought I'd share it now. I didn't finish the inside yet - my nose is still drippy so I'm spending more time taking care of that then actually stamping so I just gave up for now! Here's the card though:

I got this Rachel Anne Miller My Prince Charming stamp along with a couple other's (you can see one of the other one's I used here) not too long ago thinking how well they'll work with my new Love Sentiments set.

I stamped the froggies onto white cardstock then colored them in with my Copics.

Those 2 at the top are the lids from the Sketch markers. Most of the ones I own are CIAO's but over time I've been getting a few Sketch markers to expand my color options .There are only 144 CIAO colors, and well over 300 Sketch colors - difference being that CIAO's are cheaper, they're rounder (like a normal marker), hold less ink and the colors are printed on the sides. The Sketch markers are oval shaped (that some may find odd to hold - I am finding that I like how they feel when holding them), and the names and color numbers are printed on the ends of the caps - which is nice when I'm going through them to find a color (I store mine vertically), just inconvenient when taking pictures like this.

ANYWHO - back to the card!

I added Crystal Stickles here and there to the froggies to make them shimmer, then used a corner rounder punch on the two edges of the main image.

The "Love" is from my Love Sentiments set. I stamped it onto the green cardstock with Versamark then embossed it with Gel-A-Tins Cherry scented embossing powder. I haven't used this stuff in months - but I love it when I do use it! It smells SO good! So now the card is cherry scented.

I finished off the card with a couple of Making Memories heart brads, some Primas (attached with mini heart brads), taffeta ribbon (from Stampin' Up! - I LOVE this ribbon - it's so soft and easy to work with), and the punched border made with my Martha Stewart punch.

Friday Sketch! #44

This post is a lot later than I planned. I went to bed early last night and slept in just bit this morning - I so needed that!! I'm also still playing catch-up with everything around the house that went un-done when we had no water over the weekend. So many fun things going on around here eh? *sigh*

Anywho here's the card I made for today's Sketch:

I kept it SUPER simple for this week. I really wasn't feeling up to making a difficult sketch and a card to go with it!

I pulled out my Wedding stamp set and used the sock images for the first time on this card. I paper pieced them using the Basic Grey Eva 6x6 patterned papers. I cut the white cardstock with the Nestabilities Labels 1 die (I JUST got these after wanting them for months! So I might be using them a lot in the near future *grin*), and after embossing the CS I left the die in place and stippled on some green ink (thus leaving the die in place creates a white border - I love that look!).

I ran the pink cardstock through my CuttleBug using the Swiss Dots embossing folder, and punched a hole (SU! Word Window punch) in the top right for the sentiment (also from the Wedding set - it fit perfectly!).

The green ribbon is May Arts, I just wrapped it around and taped the ends to the back of the CS. I then used some thinner pink grosgrain from my stash and tied it in a bow over the green. I added a couple of Eva buttons to each side of the main image and that was it for the front.

I was going to use the largest Labels 1 Nestie for the inside but it was too "square" shaped - so I used my SU! Top Note die instead.

I lined the inside with the same patterned paper as the front, then adhered the die cut white cardstock. I stamped a second pair of socks and paper pieced them like the card front pair and that was it!

Flu Bugs and Princess Cards

I never did get the stamping time I had planned on yesterday - instead I got hit with a nasty flu bug and spent the afternoon and evening on the couch. I'll spare y'all the icky details - needless to say I was SICK. I didn't get much sleep (concentrating too hard on NOT throwing up) and got up this morning feeling like I'd been hit by a bus!

Thankfully this seems to be a 24 hour flu bug as I'm feeling a lot better - still not 100% but I'll take any improvement over how I felt last night. I am really hoping that no one else catches this - even though it's short-lived it's not fun to go through!

Anywho - I have a couple of cards to share that I made last week. I discovered this incredibly cute stamp line recently and HAD to get some of the sets. They were too cute to pass up. My Cute Stamps is the name of the company - go check them out here <---click!

Of course I had to get the Royal Celebration set - you should have seen the look on Veronica's face when I opened the package and showed her this set. I ended up stamping off a bunch of the images onto white cardstock for her and Josie to cut and color - they loved that!

For this first card I stamped the princess onto white cardstock and paper pieced her dress using patterned paper from the Imaginisce Fairest of Them All line. I colored her in with Copics and cut out the image with one of my circle Nestabilities dies. The sentiment is from MFT's Princess Birthday Set (another must-have set around here).

I used a white craft ink pad to stamp the stars (from the Royal Celebration set) onto the green cardstock, and also rubbed the pad along the edges of the CS to soften them up a bit.

I used Stardust Stickles to add some sparkle to the princess, and some sparkly star brads were the perfect touch!

For the inside of the card I just lined it with the same patterned paper I used on the dress - you can see a glimpse of that in the Copic markers picture.

I had to make another card as soon as I finished the first one - the idea for the second one popped in my head as I was making the first so I had to get to it!

I stamped the Princess onto kraft cardstock and cut out with a rectangle nestabilitie then used my Prismacolor pencils blended with Gamsol to color her in. The wand is also from the Royal Celebration set, I just stamped it then colored it in as well.

Again I used Stardust Stickles to accent her wings and whatnot - the sparkle adds the perfect touch!

The rest of the card was kept pretty simple - I added some ribbon, the scalloped mat (cut with another nestabilities die - I can't seem to NOT use them on a card lately), and some Prima flowers.

The inside of this card was kept simple as well - I lined it with the same patterned paper used on the front (more Imaginisce) then added a white scalloped piece to write on that I had stamped the wand on and colored with a Prismacolor pencil.

Now I'm going to go cuddle up on the couch and see if there's any good movies to watch. Even though I'm feeling better I STILL feel like I've been hit by a bus - this morning I could barely move - now it's more just an achy feeling - blah.

A Gorgeous Dress

I don't have anything new to share at the moment - I plan on getting some stamping time later on this afternoon - but I HAD to show y'all a peek of this card Lesa made using my new Wedding set:

Another "Scrappy" Card

(this is post #2 for today - you can scroll down if you missed the first one!)

OK here is the card I mentioned earlier:

This is another "scrappy" card - meaning I used more papers, embellishments etc rather than stamps on it. In fact the only stamp I used is this sentiment one from my Wedding set that's being released tonight!

I used some patterned papers from the Basic Grey Eva pack - I cut out the large heart with my largest heart nestabilities die, then cut the same shape out of a lightweight coaster (it takes a few passes through a CuttleBug to cut all the way through a coaster with a Nestabilitie die but it does work!). I adhered the paper to the coaster then sanded all the edges.

The smaller hearts were cut with a smaller nestie die then glued to the big heart.

I embellished the rest of the card with some Eva buttons, May Arts ribbon and the floral punched border was made with a Martha Stewart punch.

After I stamped the sentiment in the bottom left corner I finished off the inside of the card:

I used up the rest of the papers that I used on the front of the card, and arranged the hearts so that I can write what I want on the inside.

I left the inside blank on purpose as I feel that this card can be used for all kinds of occasions - it could be a wedding card, an anniversary card, a Valentines card, even a "congrats on your engagement" card.
