Sneak Peek - Cookie Jar and Cookie Jar-gon

This post is WAY later than I had planned it to be. It's been really windy here the past couple of days and I hardly got any sleep last night. With our house being on the north-end of town it can be SO loud if the wind is blowing - and it was. That coupled with a banging gate under my bedroom window and a snoring husband = NO sleep for me!

Needless to say my creative mojo took a hit and I had a hard time getting anything done - let alone a card! Thankfully I had planned this card out a bit ahead of time - so I'm pleased with how it turned out!:

 

Diane is releasing 2 new sets at ATS on Monday - Cookie Jar and Cookie Jar-gon (a co-ordinating sentiment set) - and it's super cute!

I stamped this little "chef" onto white cardstock and colored her in with a bunch of Copics (pic of those at the end of this post).

I then stamped the heart cookie image 3 times, colored it in and cut it out. I added some Frosted Lace stickles to them in different patterns (thinking it looked kind of like sugar) and let that dry before adhering the hearts.

I did a little faux stitching with my paper piercer and white gel pen and scalloped the edge of the brown cardstock with my Fiskars Treading Water punch.

On the inside of the card I stamped the sentiment from the Cookie Jar-gon set, and then stamped and colored in the chocolate chip cookie image to finish it off.

Sneak Peek! - AmyR Stamps Warm & Cozy Set - and BLOG CANDY

Well if you've already visited here today this will be the second sneak peek for y'all - the first one is in the Friday Sketch post below :o)

Alrighty here is my official sneak peek post for my new Warm & Cozy stamp set that will be released on Monday Feb. 2nd at All That Scraps!

This pea coat image is something that has been requested ever since I released my Amy's Boutique set - and that set, the Wardrobe set and the Wedding set all co-ordinate with each other.

The wire hanger stamp is from the Wardrobe set - I stamped the coat onto white cardstock then masked the collar before stamping the hanger - easy-peasy!

I added a mini brad to the hanger to make it look like it was hanging from something.

I used Copics to color in the coat (the darker one was scribbled on to a piece of plastic and I picked up the color with the lighter one to color in the pockets and collar).

I had set the mask I made aside along with the piece I cut out from it - I re-applied both parts (this was before I had the mini brad in place!) and stippled on some blue Palette ink then sponged the edges with ColorBox chalk ink.

The sentiment is from the Warm & Cozy set - it's 2 separate stamps so I just stamped one over the other then punched them out with an oval punch before sponging the edges and adhering it to the card.

The inside was kept simple - I just lined it with patterned paper (both patterned papers used on this card are from the MME Irresistible collection) then die cut an oval and scalloped oval mat with my nestabilities dies.

Friday Sketch! #47

I am SO tired right now - but I have two posts to get typed up so here goes #1!! The next post will go live in a few more hours - but y'all won't have to wait for a sneak peek of my newest set - I couldn't resist using it for my Sketch card today:

 

This is my newest stamp set - called Warm & Cozy. More sneak peeks will come in the later post.

Hehehe these little bunny slippers are my favorite images from the set! I HAD to ink them up ASAP.

I stamped them onto white cardstock, colored them in with my Copics (pic of them with the list of supplies), then cut them out with my Labels 2 dies.

They of course begged to be fuzzied up - so I coated them with my Quickie Glue pen and added pink fun flock - just a soft touch!

The little tails were fluffled up with Liquid Applique........now I am really wanting slippers like this for lounging around the house..........that would be divine ;o)

Anywho - the rest of the card front was pretty basic. I used Prism cardstocks in Razzleberry Dark and Tawny Light - I LOVE their orange peel texture. It just gives a project a little extra "something".

The sentiment is also from my new Warm & Cozy set - I completed it on the inside of the card by stamping 2 more sentiments from the set and piercing the "trail" to draw the eye along (it looks a little crooked but in reall ife it's quite straight!).

**a little something about the layout - I came across this card I made and posted almost a year ago (almost to the day - how weird) and LOVED the layout on it. So I had to make a new sample using the same layout - I hope y'all like it!**

Studio

   

There ya go everyone!! I got several requests to see my stamp area - and this is it LOL!!

The plan for a while now has been to dedicate the spare room to be my studio - I decided the other day that I need to get the plan in action. So we took everything out and I started painting.

I just took this picture a couple of minutes ago. After I'm done typing I'm going to get Josie down for her nap and I'm going to head back in there to do some touch-ups and paint all the trim.

THEN hopefully this weekend I can really start getting everything moved in and put up the shelving and whatnot and get it all organized!

Once all that is done I can then show you all my studio as I hope it to be (as of right now where I'm stamping is technically more of a dumping ground rather than an actual studio - don't get me wrong it'd be nice if I cleaned it up and organized it but I just haven't bothered. I'm saving all my energy for the NEW room *grin*) - it's a small space but it will be all mine :)

Love is in the Air Fluffles!!

What a non-productive morning I've had. I've been on my computer for HOURS attempting to install a printer with no luck (I've had issues with the disc, the company sent me out a new one more than once, I attempted to install it on our other computer and ran into problems, now I'm back to square one!!). I've also been going through the folders and files deleting things that don't need to be there, deleting duplicate pics, then getting sidetracked with some old pictures and videos when the girls were little (that wasn't a waste of time - it was so funny watching the videos again - they grow up way too soon!!).

ANYWHO I am definitely tired of being on the computer so here will be a quick post before I go get lunch ready and go do something else!

 

I actually remembered to pull out myFluffles Fishy stamp and use it before Valentine's day!! I'm pretty sure I forgot to even use it last year at this time :(

This is a 4.25" square card - it's been a while since I've made a card other than the standard A2 size.

I stamped the image onto white cardstock before cutting it out with a Nestabilities circle die.

I used these Copics to color him in - quite a few for such a simple image but I've been working more on blending and whatnot and an image like this is a good one to practice with (for me anyway).

The glittered heart was cut with a scalloped Nestabilitie die from DoodleBug Sugarcoated (aka glitter) cardstock (you can get a similar look by using cardstock, versamark and Stampin' Up! Iridescent Ice embossing powder - but having the CS already glittered is much less work!).

I added Fruit Punch Stickles to the hears of the image, and some fun flock with the Quickie Glue Pen to Fluffles to make him fuzzy.

I also sponged on some ink to the edges before I adhered the image to the card with dimensionals.

The inside was lined with the same pink DoodleBug textured CS (I love this CS - especially this pink - I've been using it a lot lately! 

I cut a circle from white CS with a larger nestie die, adhered that then adding a strip of the same patterned paper I used on the front (from the My Mind's Eye Irresistible line). I cut another small scalloped heart from a scrap of the glittered CS then adhered it to finish off the inside.

Comments - Something New

You all should notice something new with the comments on here. It's not a major change and shouldn't disrupt anything on here - they just look a teeny bit different and I can now actually reply TO a specific comment (something I've wanted on here for forever!! Will make things a lot easier for me I'm hoping!!).

This should be a really GOOD thing - and will hopefully make commenting here on my blog more interesting and interactive for all of us.

I do read every comment I get, and hopefully this new little feature will enable me to be able to answer most questions quickly and directly under the question so that it all is in one place (which is perfect for my OCD LOL!!).

Ya know it's been quite a while since I've done any tutorials or product reviews on here - I've been thinking it's about time to post some new ones!! Any suggestions?

Let me know what you would like to see, or if there is a product/tool you want to know more about (with that if I have it and have tried it I will definitely do a review of it!). If there's a lot of suggestions I obviously can't do them all at once - but I can plug away at a list if I get more than a couple! :o)

I pulled out another one of my Rachel Anne Miller stamps today - actually the last one as I only own three of them right now!! I want TONS more but I need to space my purchases apart! I've had these ones for more than a couple of months anyway so that gives y'all an idea of how long things can sit before I actually get around to using them.

 

This is theLily & Milo Rainy Days stamp. I'm still in a Valentine color combo mood so I went with pinks browns and reds to color in the image.

I used all these Copics to color it all in then cut the image out with one of my rectangle nestabilities dies. Instead of matting the image I just embossed the die to get the frame around the image.

LOL I went a little crazy with the Stardust stickles here - I couldn't stop myself!!

I started by just adding a little here and there and next thing you know I had the entire umbrella covered.

That's another reason why I love my Copics though - if I had used dye-based inks to color in the image there's a good chance the color would have run and/or smeared after adding all that glitter glue. With Copics that's never a problem :o)

I kept the inside really simple - just basically mimicking the layout used on the front, and stamping the "Love" that I also had stamped on the front. That stamp is from my Love Sentiments set.

The buttons are Basic Grey Bittersweet buttons - they look almost black in the pictures - in real life they're a REALLY dark brown.

Ribbon is May Arts satin.

Second Sketch Sample

Well this post is a lot later than I had planned on. I ended up working 'till closing at the coffee shop on Friday (which isn't too bad but being on my feet for that many hours at a time on tile flooring is rough for me - even with good shoes!), then got a last-minute booking to do nails after that. Needless to say I didn't get anything done other than work on Friday - so yesterday I didn't really do much at all (well unless you count cooking, cleaning and taking after kids nothing much!).

Anywho today I managed to get some stamping time in between loads of laundry and meal making - and this time I am much more pleased with the results!:

 

I used the same layout I posted on Friday - this time using some KI Memories Wedding papers.

The silhouette image is from the Kim Hughes I Thee Wed stamp set - I stamped it onto the pink patterned paper then cut it out using my scalloped heart nestabilities die.

The "Mr" and "Mrs" is one stamp (from the Love Sentiments set), that I inked up separately then cut out with a smaller plain heart die.

I added some Prima flowers, some ribbon, and scalloped the bottom of the black strip using my Fiskars Treading Water punch.

 The sentiment on the outside as well as this one on the inside of the card are also from my Love Sentiments set.

I lined the inside with the same paper used on the front, added a strip of the pink "soul mates" paper then added a couple of hearts cut from the striped paper to tie it all together :o)

THIS was more like the idea I had in my head when I was planning Friday Sketch! #46 - and THIS time it turned out more like I was hoping it would LOL!

Friday Sketch! #46

I have to admit I'm not fond of the card I made for this sketch. If I had the time I'd toss this one and make a new one - but I have a nail client showing up this morning and I promised my mom I'd help out at the coffee shop for the rest of the day while my mother-in-law babysits the girls for me. So a new sample will have to wait till later (which WILL happen - I actually had a lot of ideas brewing for this sketch!)

Anyway here's my not-so-great card:

 

Even tho I LOVE pink I think I went just a tad overboard with it on this card LOL!!

I used my Basic Grey Bittersweet papers - I cut the one strip, adhered the darker paper behind that I scalloped with my SU! Scalloped edge punch, then stitched them together with my sewing machine.

The hearts were punched out from other papers in the pack using my scalloped heart Marvy punches.

I embellished them with some BG buttons and a Prima (all attached with some light pink embroidery thread) and attached them with dimensionals.

I pulled out my worn lipstick crackle paint and covered the second largest heart and also brushed it onto the card base.

The "Cherish" is from my Love Sentiments set - I stamped it in VersaMark then embossed it with the chocolate scented embossing powder that I've been stuck on recently (once it's heated you can still smell it - it's not a STRONG scent - you need to bring it up to your nose to get a whiff of it - and it smells GOOD!!).

So yeah that was it. The IDEA behind the card just wouldn't translate this time. I had a long day trying to get a bunch of cleaning and cooking done and I just wasn't feeling it when I sat down to make this card. But I needed to get something made for the sketch!! I'll try again this weekend to make a better one! I didn't even bother finishing the inside this time - just too tired to!

Roundup - Friday Sketch! #45 Submissions

Since there were only 13 players with last week's sketch I'm including them all here. I still haven't decided on what or how many I will "roundup" in the following weeks. I've read all your suggestions (thank you!) but am still undecided. I do like the idea of having a "team" that will participate with me that I link to - but right now I don't have the time for that. Plus that would mean me needing to get sketches made up in advance - which I rarely do as it is LOL! Depending on how many paople play along I may just pick 10 random to post - I do like that idea rather than picking "favorites". Hmmmmmm yeah I just don't know right now! Any other ideas?

I'll figure out something tho - but for now I'll just post them all!

Bella Journal

       

OK here's another quick project I made last night. Ever since I had my girls I've wanted to lose weight. I gained a ton when pregnant both times and have had a hard time trying to get back in shape. This year I've decided that there's no sense putting it off and I'm honestly going to give it a real shot!

I was able to get a Wii fit delivered last week (man those things aren't easy to get a hold of! I found mine through Costco.ca - it came with a couple of extra accessories and a snowboarding game as well and it's been pretty fun!) and have been using it every day (and feel like I've been hit by a bus!). I love that it can keep track of my progress and it has a bunch of exercises/yoga positions etc etc that I'm not familiar with. So it's definitely well worth the $$

However my biggest downfall is food - I love snacking way too much! I've had "food journals" in the past and they lasted maybe a couple of days before I got bored. Now with my new determination to get back in shape I'm hoping I can keep this up and so I needed a new little journal to keep track of what I eat!

Weightwatcherbella to the rescue LOL!

I stamped her onto white cardstock, colored her in with some Copics, then cut her out with one of my rectangle nestabilities.

I matted the image with a large scalloped rectangle then used some Crystal Stickles to bling her up before setting aside the image to dry while I covered the journal.

The book itself is roughly 6x5 inches - it came from the dollar store.

I used my new Imaginisce Twitterpated papers to cover the front and back covers. I LOVE these new papers - they just scream spring! They have gloss effects on them too which are really cool - that red polka dotted paper is ALL gloss - just the dots aren't glossy - it's something you have to see in real life!

I just cut the paper to nudge it up against the coil - I didn't bother removing the coil to cover those parts of the covers - that would have been way too much work. I used myTombow Mono multi to adhere the paper - worked like a charm!

I added a bit of Twitterpated ribbon tied to the top coil to use as a bookmark.

I used one of my Studio G wood alpha's (from Michael's in the $1 bins) to stamp the "food journal" then cut that out with a nestabilities label before gluing it to the cover.

To embellish I used some felt flowers (from the Target $1 spot that were given to me eons ago!), some Primas and some DoodleBug brads and that was it!

SO - now the book is done and here's hoping I can stay consistent in using it - and of course hopefully it will help to serve as a reminder to lay off the snacks!

I gotta run now and get some exercising in - I've been doing the boxing and yoga and some of the strength exercises along with the aerobics on the Wii fit - it doesn't take long to really start to feel the burn!

Normally I don't play along when I get "tagged" - mostly b/c I don't have the time - BUT I had a few minutes today and played along when I got the comment from Tammy tagging me.

The rules were:

Well on my computer my 6th folder just happens to be the "family" folder (where I keep all my family related pictures sorted by month - I have over 2 years worth that need to get printed - aurgh!).

Some Birthday Pics

The girls look so little in those pictures!! I can't believe over a year has passed already.

**funny tidbit - Josie STILL has this purple dress and wears it almost every day. She'll wear it to bed even - heck I'll put her in her jammies and when I get her up in the morning she's wearing the dress. She gets up in the middle of the night to put it back on!

The dress is practically ripped to shreds and has who knows how many holes in it. But she still loves it and wears it faithfully. I don't know what I will do when it no longer fits or falls apart to the point where she can't wear it!

Super Quick Valentine's Gift

 

I whipped this up last night before Tim and I sat down to watch a movie together after the girls were in bed. It took maybe 15-20 minutes tops??

All I did was take one of these clear plastic heart containers from ATS (this is the smaller one - there is also a much larger one here) and decorate just the lid. I used my heart nestabilities - both the plain and scalloped. The very largest scalloped heart was used, then the plain largest. I also cut a smaller scalloped heart from some pink patterned paper (more Basic Grey Bittersweet!) to add some pop of color.

The bunny is from CC Designs Kisses and Hugs set - I stamped him onto white CS then used my Copic (pic of the ones I used at the end of the post with the supplies) markers to color him in.

I added some Stardust Stickles to his wings, then once they were dry I cut him out and used dimensionals to attach him to the heart.

The "A Gift For You" sentiment is from my Christmas Sentiments set (perfect for all year round) - I stamped it onto the heart with black ink.

I added some Basic Grey Bittersweet buttons with pink embroidery thread, and added a little "x" stitch with the same thread, then punched a hole under the sentiment using myMaking Memories Ribbon Slot punch.

I threaded the ribbon through before adhering the heart to the lid of the container. I just used red line dots to adhere the heart - if I want I can cut another scalloped heart and adhere it to the INSIDE of the lid so that it will hide all the adhesive and whatnot.

The ribbon then wraps around the container and is tied in a bow to keep it closed! I filled it with crumpled paper for now - I wasn't about to run out and get candy just for the pictures - I've been trying REALLY hard lately to NOT bring candy into the house. The less that is around the better. I definitely don't need it and the girls (especially Josie) get way too hyper on sugar. This container would look so cute filled with Hot Hearts tho........but I won't get any till I give it away! ;)
