This week's All That Scraps Design Team Challenge was to make a card/item totally inspired by ribbon. Well that's an easy one (for me!) - just narrowing it down to WHICH ribbon might be a problem *wink*.
I decided before I even entered my stamp room that I would use the ribbon I first saw (I have all my loose ribbon in jars sitting on a ledge - pics of that coming soon) - and my eyes fell onto my May Arts wide striped grosgrain - LOVE that stuff but barely ever use it so this was perfect!!

Here's what I came up with:
I used my Amy's Boutique stamp set and stamped the different shoes onto white cardstock then colored them in with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol in colors that matched the ribbon.
I used a 1 1/8" circle punch to punch out the images, and adhered them to the top of the card along with several other punched circles punched from DoodleBug cardstock - again in matching colors :)
I used my CuttleBug Swiss Dot embossing folder on the black cardstock, and punched a window through it with my SU! Word Window punch.
The sentiment is from Boutique Sentiments, I stamped it onto a scrap of white CS and adhered it behind the punched window.
Now for the COOLEST thing - check out the little charms I made!!
I took clear shrink plastic and roughed it up with a sanding block (you MUST do that when working with shrink plastic - sand it in one direction then sand it in the opposite direction to get a "cross-hatch" - it gives the ink and color something to cling to) before stamping the shoes with Black Stazon.
I then just used the same Prismacolor pencils to color them in, punched 1/4" holes above each one before trimming them out with scissors and shrinking them with my embossing tool. They turned out so tiny and cute LOL!
EDITED TO ADD: You can use pretty much whatever you want to color in the images before you shrink them - the only thing you want to avoid is smearing - so if you have stamped the image in Stazon (which I recommend, that or Palette Hybrid ink) you could still use alcohol based markers but you would just have to be REALLY careful not to hit the lines.
I attached each charm to a jump ring then attached them to the ribbon with black embroidery thread - the bow can be untied and the charms taken off the card and used on whatever the receiver would like - keychain, bracelet, etc etc.
I LOVE how this whole card turned out. It took on a life of it's own and I wasn't planning on using shrink plastic at all till this idea just hit me. It doesn't happen very often that it all works out well in the end but this one did!!

Don't forget to check out what the other DT members came up with here on the ATS blog a little later today. And don't forget to keep your eye on the Challenge Forum for when it's posted there so you can play too! :)
