Last November I went on a weekend stamping retreat to Kamp Kadesh with Julie - you can see some of the pics I took here.

We're doing it again during the last weekend of October/first 2 days of November and you really should come! Julie started a facebook group that anyone can join to find out more info (joining the group does NOT guarantee you a spot - you have to register and pay the deposit to hold your spot as it's being limited to 40 people!).

It is SERIOUSLY more than worth every penny (I think the price is cheap for 2 nights and catered meals and yes the food is fabulous!).

Papertrey - It's A Celebration Samples

Here are the other 2 cards I've created using Papertrey's It's A Celebration set.

I really love all the little cupcake topper images in this set - they're so cute! I stamped the bottom part 4 times onto white cardstock, then stamped the different tops using Sweet Blush and Berry Sorbet ink.

I used a 1 1/4" circle punch to punch out the cupcakes, then added a 1 3/8" mat to them (made with dark brown CS).

I finished off the front of the card by adding a strip of Sweet Blush Saddle Stitch ribbon with brown brads, and scalloping the edge using a corner rounder punch (video tutorial on how I do that here).

On the inside of the card I stamped another cupcake and the happy birthday sentiment (I LOVE the font of this one!) from the Birthday Basics stamp set.

When the It's a Celebraiton set first came out a lot of people were asking what the long line stamp was for. It is meant to be used with the tag stamp in the set (it's the string) but I thought it would make a great balloon string!

When I placed the stamp onto the acrylic block I changed the shape of it a bit (one of the cool benefits of clear stamps) before stamping it. I stamped it 3 times then added the balloons.

I made the balloons by pressing VersaMark ink onto Sweet Blush and Berry Sorbet CS and embossing clear embossing powder over it. I did 2 or 3 layers of EP to get it good and thick, then when it cooled I used a circle punch to make balloons.

I punched a hole in the main image using my MM Ribbon Slot Punch to slip the ribbon through, and added another sentiment from the Birthday Basics set.

Friday Sketch! #16

Wow it's hard to believe I'm on #16 already! I have really been enjoying coming up with these sketches for y'all and enjoy seeing what everyone comes up with when using them! :o)

So here's the one for this week!:

This is another of my "catch up" cards from last month's Papertrey release - tomorrow I'll post 2 more cards I made with this set and color combo :o)

I used the It's a Celebration set and stamped the banners onto the one panel, then added the word "happy" to it using the Simple Alphabet.

After stamping the gift I added the word birthday with the alphabet set.

The polka dots were stamped with Chocolate Chip ink (Polka Dot Basics set) onto the Blush cardstock then I added the ribbon.

CS: Stamper's Select White, Sweet Blush, SU! Creamy Caramel and Chocolate Chip.

Thinking Outside the Tin Challenge

ETA: First off I want to sincerely apologize to my readers who showing up looking for this post and it not being here! I had it automatically set to post at midnight but like a moron I accidentally I clicked on the 2nd instead of the 1st!! :( *note to self to double check times when setting timers on posts!!*

Back to the post:

This month the challenge for the senior design team at Papertrey Ink was to see what we could do with their nugget tins. With Father's Day coming up my thoughts turned towards gift ideas and this was what I came up with!

I know that giving your dad a tie on father's day is rather cliche - but I thought with a simple twist on packaging along with a handmade card and heartfelt message you could give that tie to someone who is SO hard to find gifts for in the first place! *wink*

I started with the nugget tin, then cut a small card to fit over the clear top out of Spring Moss cardstock.

I stamped a strip of white cardstock with the fish images from the Pond Life stamp set (using Spring Moss and SU! Bashful Blue ink) and sponged the edges with Aqua Mist ink.

I used my ribbon slot punch to punch a hole in the card that I threaded the Aqua Mist Saddle Stitch ribbon through. The ribbon not only holds the card closed but the tin as well as the tie *just* fits!

I lined the card with white cardstock and stamped the sentiment (also from the Pond Life stamp set) in black and added a couple of the fish as well. I sponged the edges with more Aqua Mist ink before adhering the cardstock to the card.

And here's the tie - when I first got it to me all I could think of is fish thus the fish theme LOL!
