I made this the other night for my Mom. It was a pretty fun little project so I think I'll be doing some more in the near future!!
To make a box like this you need 5 chipboard coasters (4 for the sides and 1 for the bottom). I used medium weight 4x4" ones that I got from StarLitStudio and they were *perfect* for a project like this.
I started by cutting 10 squares of 4x4" patterned paper (in this case it was Spring Flowers Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!), rounding all the corners w/ my small corner rounder punch, then adhering them to the coasters w/ Mod Podge.
Once all the coasters were covered and dry I sanded all the edges w/ a sanding block (from SU!), then punched holes in the sides of 4 of the coasters using my Crop-a-dile (I also got that from StarLitStudio - tho it's available practically everywhere now). I used the larger of the two hole punches on the COD and man oh man it cut through it all like buttah. I LOVE my Crop-a-dile!!!
To assemble the box I tied all 4 pieces together w/ various ribbons, then used a hot glue gun to adhere the bottom - it holds pretty well - not sure how it would hold up if something *really* heavy were put in there. I was thinking of using Crystal Effects to adhere the bottom but decided against it as it's a LOT more runny than hot glue - and I didn't want to have to sit and hold the bottom on till the CE dried.
To finish off the box I stamped the word "Happy" from the new Polka Dots and Paisley set (Shelli - the CEO and co-founder of Stampin' Up! - sent this set as a gift to all the demonstrators. How cool is that?? It's a brand new set that will be in the Spring Mini in March.) onto Whisper White CS, and added a flower from the Looks Like Spring set. I stamped the flower twice - once w/ So Saffron on Whisper White, and once w/ So Saffron Craft on Close to Cocoa. I cut them both out, and added a button from my oh so wonderful stash *wink* as the flower center.
