I said when I did the Holiday OSW w/ the Peaceful Wishes set that I wanted to do some non-Christmas cards w/ it as well. Here's the first one I've done.
I started out w/ the intention to make a simple card but as I was making it I kept adding an extra layer here and there and then some sponging and glitter and you know what I mean. In the end this is what it is.
This is a 5"x5" square card. I don't often do square cards and when I do I make them 4.25" square max as those fit in the standard card envelopes (so I don't have to pay extra postage - if you didn't already know that. Square envies require extra postage as the machines can't read them properly or something like that!). For this one I'll have to make an envelope as I don't have ones big enough on hand.
Square cards have a really great look to them - there's just something about them that's so classy as opposed to a 4.25 x 5.5 card.
For this I used markers on the branch and berries and stamped it on Whisper White CS that I sponged w/ Creamy Caramel (I had this week's Color Challenge in my head but opted for Caramel instead of Bashful Blue). I stamped friend (from Everyday Flexible Phrases) in the corner of the CS w/ Certainly Celery and matted it twice. For the berries I added tiny daubs of glue and poured Dazzling Diamonds Glitter over them.
I stamped Paisley on Whisper White using Regal Rose ink. I matted that piece twice as well and tied Caramel Gingham and Linen Thread onto it. The main image was then mounted to that using dimensionals.
I stamped the card base w/ Fine Lace. It wouldn't cover the entire card front so I re-inked it up and pressed the card over it again just eyeballing where it should go. W/ a pattern like this and how much you're really going to see in the end I wasn't worried about it gaping or overlapping much. I then sponged the edges of the card and faux stitched a border around the paisley panel.
Now I need to get back to getting all my e-mail replies out!!
