I posted the other day on my Facebook page that I was working on inking up stamps that I had never used before. And I actually ended up getting several cards done so here is the first of them:
I used the Swiss Pixies Violet with Key image that came out with the CCDesigns January release. I also used some of my Basic Grey Nook & Pantry 6x6 papers and embellishments (I'm *thisclose* to using them up!) along with my Thank You stamp set for the sentiments.
I stamped Violet onto CCD CQ80lb cardstock (Memento Ink) then colored her in with Copics.
There's a Paper Piecing challenge over on the Moxie Fab Work blog right now in celebration of Stamp It! Techniques week. So of course I had to do a bit of paper-piecing on my card!
I paper pieced (video tutorial on that HERE) her cap with one of the Nook&Pantry papers and colored in the band with Copics before adhering it to the image.
And of course I had to add some Stardust Stickles to her wings (sadly the lighting wasn't as good this time as it was last time to pick up on the sparkle - but it's there!), letting it dry before I cut out the image.
I played around with my patterned papers and came up with the layout and used my Spellbinders Labels 4 dies to create a mat for Violet as well as to create a neat focal point for the sentiment:
I stamped the 'Heartfelt Thanks' from my Thank You Sentiments set onto aqua cardstock then cut it out with one of the Labels 4 dies before adhering it to the cardfront and trimming off the bottom edge.
And of course I had to use a few Nook&Pantry brads and one of their stitched brads to finish off the front.
Then on the inside of the card I used more patterned papers, and cut a piece of white cardstock with the Labels 4 die.
The sentiment is again from my Thank You Sentiments set (one of my favorites and I thought it went rather well with this particular image), I stamped it onto a scrap piece of patterned paper then adhered it to the inside of the card.
The aqua key and lock was made with the CCD Cutters Key & Lock Embossing Die (I did a review video on that HERE). I ran them through my Big Shot and sadly I wasn't able to pick up the embossed detail on the lock - so cut in real life. And I could have popped out that tiny heart in the key but left it in.
OK that's it! I need to finish getting ready for work now - so glad it's FRIDAY!! And it's also my oldest daughter's birthday today (I cannot believe I'm the mom of an 8-year-old! It feels surreal) so we have a ton of housecleaning to do for her little party this weekend. And I'm *hoping* I can get a project made that I've had in the back of my mind for months now so we'll see what happens.
It's gonna be a busy weekend - but I'll be posting during it - like I said I got several cards done lately and a couple of videos too so I plan on getting everything edited and uploaded over the near future.
