Grad Cards Again

Chf_kh_grad_card_2_by_amyr I'm glad y'all liked the other 2 grad cards I posted earlier - and here are the other 2 I made for my customer.

All the same supplies were used to make these cards - the U R A Hoot set by Kim Hughes for CHF, and the Lined Paper background stamp.

The ribbon on this card is from Michaels. The red arrow was made with my SU! My Way punch.

Chf_kh_grad_card_4_by_amyr This one is my favorite of the set - LOL the arrows pointing to the owl with the "wise guy" sentiment just cracks me up.

I've had several people ask me what I sell my cards for - honestly I sell them for WAY less than I would like. I live in a small prairie town and people will not pay what a handmade card is worth (in my opinion!) - therefore I price them so that they will sell.

I try to keep the cards I sell simple as I only charge $3.50 per card (or 4 cards for $12). Ones like these I would generally charge about $5 each for since I put a lot of extra time into them with the coloring and the layouts and whatnot.

When I do custom jobs I usually charge even more but it depends on the type of card and what all goes into it (lots of layers, embellishments, time for coloring etc etc etc).......and of course from now on I will ALWAYS be charging a "consultation fee" at the start of any custom job that will be non-refundable (remember this post?) to at least cover my time and expense if the clients decide in the end to do something else!!

It really depends on your area what you charge for your cards - some places you can charge a good amount - and in other areas you have to undersell yourself. You just need to determine at what amount is it worth it for YOU to go to the work of creating and then selling them - because if you feel like you are doing it for nothing then it starts to be a lot less fun.

Personally I don't mind selling them for less here as I create quite a lot of cards and it's a nice way to get them out of my house and make a little extra $$ for my stamping budget! *wink*

Grad Cards

Chf_kh_grad_card_1_by_amyrGood Morning Everyone!

I had someone ask me if I could make 4 grad cards for her to buy - which I said yes to because it gave me the opportunity to pull out my CHF Kim Hughes U R A Hoot set.

I also pulled out my CHF Lined Paper background stamp that hasn't seen ink - I thought it was perfect for these cards.

The owls were stamped onto Papertrey Vintage Cream cardstock with Ranger Adirondack Pitch Black ink then colored in with Copic markers and cut out. The cap was also stamped in black then cut out.

Chf_kh_grad_card_1_inside_by_amyrI kept the inside simple and stamped the smaller version of the owl along with the word graduate.

Chf_kh_grad_card_3_by_amyr I stamped the background on this card with white craft ink onto Creamy Caramel CS (SU!).

I cut a slit in the spine of the card to thread the ribbon through (both ribbons are form Michaels) then attached the owl with dimensionals so that he's "sitting" on the ribbon.

More Secret Sister Cards

Secret_sister_card_8_by_amyr Just a quick post this afternoon - here are a couple more secret sister cards I made to sell at my mom's coffee shop.

I used Petal Prints (retired a long time ago from Stampin' Up! - one of my first and favorite sets....) stamped in black then colored it in with a fantastix soaked in water then dipped in re-inkers (SU! Soft Sky and Close to Cocoa).

The sentiment was made using 3 different stamp sets - SU! Wonderful Favorites, and Papertrey's Simple Alphabet and Women of Life.

Secret_sister_card_11_by_amyrAll CS is from SU and the patterned paper is their Afternoon Tea DS paper. Ribbon is also SU.

A Couple More Secret Sisiter Cards

Secret_sister_card_4_by_amyr Sorry these pics aren't as clear as they should be but I don't have the time to re-take and edit them!

Someone asked what a secret sister is as they've never heard this term before. It's usually a group of women and they draw names and whose name they draw they send little gifts and cards to this person anonymously calling themselves their "secret sister" - then at the agreed-upon time everyone reveals who their secret sister was. My mother-in-law does this within her church and there is a group of women in my town that also do this.

Like yesterday's card these ones use SU!'s Garden Silhouettes set (retired) and the sentiment made from Papertrey's Women of Life and Simple Alphabet set.

I stamped the image with VersaMark and embossed it with Iridescent Ice embossing powder to make it glittery.

The sentiment was punched out with a Marvy Scalloped Circle punch and attached with dimensionals.

Secret_sister_card_3_by_amyr This one turned out really blurry - sorry! (so frustrating).

I used markers to ink up the image then went over all the flowers with Fruit Punch Stickles.

I'm now off to try and get some stamping done - I haven't stamped anything yet this week - my mojo is sadly lacking but hopefully it will come back with a vengeance!

Secret Sister

Secret_sister_card_2_by_amyrI got a request for several Secret Sister cards as I sell cards in my mom's coffee shop and ones like this were needed.

I made several of them using Stampin' Up!'s Ginger Blossom Patterned paper and the new Afternoon Tea patterned paper so I'll show them here and there over the next little while.

All the ones I made with the Ginger Blossom paper use SU!'s Garden Silhouette's stamp set (it was a hostes set and is no longer available - I love this set tho and don't plan on ever getting rid of it!).

The sentiment took me a bit of thinking as I don't have a single "secret sister" stamp, and no stamps that just say "secret" either. I got the sister stamp from Papertrey's Women of Life stamp set, and then pulled out my PT Simple Alphabet stamps to spell secret and voila!

It's hard to tell from the picture but those 3 dots are White Lightning Glitter Dots (attached with mini glue dots) - they're sparkly in real life and add just the right amount of bling.

Ribbon (regal rose) and CS is SU.

A Button Card

Lad_thinking_of_you_bird_by_amyr Hey everyone. I am so glad y'all seem to like my previous card as much as I did. I read every comment and they sure made my day.

I have a splitting headache (woke up with one and it just won't go away) so this post is going to be short and sweet.

I saw a scrapbook page online some time ago (sadly I can't remember where) that inspired this card.

Stamps are from the In The Treetop set by Lizzie Anne Designs. Buttons were attached with mini glue dots, and the ribbon was attached by punching holes in the paper (the Prima flowers hide the holes), threading the ribbon through then tying in a knot to mke stems and leaves.

Have a happy Thursday everyone - I'm off to take some more Tylenol!

Lizzie Anne

I have to admit I have been a big fan of Lizzie Anne images for some time now - I think they have some really nice stamps - not to mention some SUPER cute ones!! I was so excited for ATS to begin carrying them and a couple of month's ago I caved (as usual!!) and bought myself a couple of their sets. And of course I've barely had a chance to use them but I do NOT regret getting them b/c they WILL get inked up - eventually! *wink*

Here's a couple of cards I made using their In The Treetop set:

Lad_simple_trees_by_amyr SUPER quick, simple card. I stamped the images using VersaMagic inks, punched 2 holes in the card and ran the ribbon through (the ribbon I got from Michaels months ago).

Card base is Papertrey white CS.

Lad_tree_thank_you_by_amyr Same inks used for this one as well, except I used all patterned papers from Basic Grey's Sultry line.

The sentiment and the image behind it are from Papertrey's Simple Little Things set (which sadly you can't buy - you had to earn it - more deets on that here).

The buttons are also Basic Grey, and I used my Crop-a-dile with some Making Memories eyelets to add some interest along the bottom of the card.

Happy Birthday Pardner!

Tcp_happy_birthday_pardner_by_amyr Just a quick card to share with y'all this morning as I have a TON of things to do today - as well as my first (of many) dentist appointment in the city this afternoon - blah.

This card uses stamps from The Cat's Pajamas It's a Western Thing clear set, and I used Copic markers to color them all in.

The patterned paper is from daisyd's Autumn collection.

I used a corner rounder punch to make the scalloped edge - you can see the tutorial on that here.

Have a happy day everyone!

Recipe Tags

Chf_kh_baked_w_love_recipe_tags_b_2

I had a lady here in town call me the other day asking if I could make up some recipe tags for her. Since I got Kim Hughes Baked With Love set and it hadn't seen ink this seemed like the perfect use for it!! *grin*

I just printed out the directions onto Vanilla cardstock, then stamped some of the images from the set using various inks. I matted them with a scalloped rectangle (cut with my Nestabilities dies) and punched a hole in the corner for the ribbon to thread through when they're attached to the jars.

The recipe given to me is more or less just directions as the tags are going to be attached to jars that have all the dry ingredients already layered inside - so all they have to do is follow the directions to make yummy brownies! I was told that these will all be given to moms in her church on Sunday for Mother's Day - so I hope they like them! :o)

Much Obliged!

Tcp_much_obliged_by_amyr I made this for one of The Cat's Pajama's weekly challenges and then promptly forgot to take a picture of it and post it!

Anywho here it is - I used TCP's clear and swanky It's a Western Thing stamp set and stamped each penguin separately. I colored them in with Copic markers then punched them out with a square punch and matted them with a scalloped piece of red cardstock.

The patterned paper is from this daisyd's Autumn collection, and I don't know if you can tell but the black strip isn't paper it's actually 2 pieces of grosgrain ribbon. :o)

The card base is one of SU!'s (retired) Cool Caribbean long notes - it measures 3 1/4 x 6 1/2".
