I had meant to have samples posted this weekend for all the sets being released on Monday at All That Scraps but it seems that life is just getting in the way! Veronica was sick all day yesterday so I was tending to her (and keeping Josie from jumping all over her every chance she got - that in itself is a full time job!) - thankfully she's better today so it was just a 24 hour virus or something.
THEN I got a nice nearly $600 bill in the mail from the dentist. After all that work I had done in the summer I was told that we didn't owe any more $$ (the dental plan from Tim's work covered a bunch and then I had to pay several hundred as well to top it off). Turns out that's not the case. I didn't get ANY sleep at all last night I was so stressed over this unexpected bill. I can't contact them till Monday b/c their office is closed but I'd appreciate any good thoughts/vibes/prayers sent my way that this is all a big mistake! What a way to start off 2009 - blah.
Surprisingly tho even with little sleep and that stinkin' bill hanging over my head this morning I got in some stamping time and made a card - and not only did it turn out but I am REALLY liking how it turned out! (more proof for those of us that say "stamping is therapy" - it felt SO good to make this card. I just concentrated on it and tried to forget the other cruddy things I need to deal with!) Check it out:
Isn't this bunny just the cutest thing you've ever seen? I showed the card to Tim and even he thought it was pretty cute.
The bunny and the sentiment are from CC Designs soon-to-be-released Kisses & Hugs set - you can see a bunch more samples from the Design Team here (using the other characters from the set too along with several using my new Love Sentiments set).
I stamped the bunny onto white cardstock and used these Copics to color him in. I have to say this set of browns (E33, E35 and E37) are my most used colors - the 33 and 35 are starting to get pretty dry so I'll need to refill them soon.
I used one of my Circle Nestabilities dies to cut out the main image.
The patterned paper is from the Basic Grey Eva 6x6 pack. I had the paper sitting out on my desk from another card I recently finished and wated to keep using it. I LOVE the colors in these papers and think they make for a pretty funky Valentine's Day card!
I used my Scalloped Heart Nestabilities to cut a couple of hearts from the papers, then used a plain heart nestie to cut out the green heart that I stamped the sentiment onto.
After I put the card front together I added some Eva buttons (attaching them with pink embroidery thread).
I also added some fun flock here and there to the bunny (he HAD to be fuzzied up!) and some StarDust Stickles to his wings.
When the card front was finished it hit me that I had all this crackle paint sitting here and why not use some of the Worn Lipstick on the edges. So I pulled it out and lightly brushed it along the edges and let it dry (only took 10 minutes or so as I applied it pretty sparingly).
I finished the inside with leftover pieces of paper that I used on the front of the card. I cut out a couple of hearts and adhered them overtop and that was it!
