Friday Sketch! #43
**Don't forget to scroll past this post to the one below and enter for your chance to win my 2 new stamp sets being released on Jan 5th!**
I have to say this card I made for today took on a whole life of it's own. I generally sketch out a layout to use for these Friday posts but today I just played around and this was the end result!
I picked up a few Rachel Anne Miller stamps the other day - I think they're REALLY cute and the ones I got I thought would work really well with my soon-to-be-released Love Sentiments set.
I stamped this Lily & Milo For You stamp onto white cardstock the cut it out with my heart nestabilities die before coloring it in with my Copics.
Since I was using my Love Sentiments set this was a Valentine's card - but in completely untraditional colors! I pulled out my SEI Dill Blossom paper pad and took colors from that to use in coloring the main image.
I stamped the "Happy Valentine's Day" from the Love Sentiments set onto a scrap of white cardstock before adhering it to the card with some mini brads.
The Primas are from my stash (I've made a New Year's resolution to really start using up all the embellishments I have - whether it be Primas, ribbon, bling, buttons etc etc - goodness knows I have enough to keep me going at LEAST through all of 2009 (and prolly the next decade LOL!)) as are the buttons.
I used a Martha Stewart border punch on the leafy patterned paper, then after attaching the main image and Primas I added a few buttons and some jute twine tied into a bow.
I also went back over the main image with my gold Spica glitter pen just to add a little subtle shimmer (something I love to do. In real life it looks just like this - from one angle you can hardly see it but when you turn the card to the light all of a sudden you can see all the sparkle - yet it's still subtle).
I finished off the inside of the card as well. I just used up the rest of the leafy patterned paper, added a strip of the turquoise paper (punched with the same Martha Stewart punch), then adhered a large heart cut from a scrap of white cardstock.
That one side looked a little "empty" so I added a smaller heart cut from some brown paper and that was it :o)

FYI the main image doesn't HAVE to be on a heart shape - but it's a bonus if it's tilted at least!! I'm still fiddling with my PSE5 (Photoshop Elements Version 5) to make my sketches a little "cooler" - but my technical skills are sadly lacking!! It's a learning process that's for sure *grin*
