BLECH.
We're going through a cold snap at the moment:
With it feeling like it's -44 (that's -47F) it's pretty cold here right now. I am not looking forward to getting up in the morning to get Veronica ready for school!
Speaking of school I made a Christmas card for her teacher that we'll give to her at Veronica's class party on Friday:
I know - it's certainly different when you're thinking Christmas colors eh? I like how it turned out though.
I wanted to use my Kim Hughes Make the Grade set (I got it with the intent of using it to scrapbook school related pics and whatnot - but it's also perfect for teacher's cards/gifts) - so I pulled that out and decided to use more of my Basic Grey Figgy Pudding paper while I was at it.
For a moment I wasn't sure I'd be able to pull off the papers with this set but I think I made it work!!
I stamped the pencils onto the more neutral lined paper and used my Prismacolor pencil crayons to color them in.
The apples were stamped onto the same papers using ColorBox inks, then punched out with circle punches.
I decided to add more yellow to go with the pencils, so I used my May Arts gingham, and some DoodleBug brads.
It's really hard to pick up the sparkle on camera but I used a silver Spica glitter pen to add some shimmer to the pencil and to outline the word "teacher".
The Merry Christmas is from my Christmas Sentiments set - I stamped each word separately onto scraps of white cardstock then trimmed them with scissors before adhering them to the card with glazed brads.
I finished off the inside of the card with another strip of the neutral paper stamped with a whole row of the pencils.
I added a Christmas verse from my Christmas Verses set, then added white cardstock to where we'll write our Christmas greeting (and Veronica will sign her name - she's gotten so good at it since she started school - she signs her name to everything now LOL!!)
I'm thinking I'll add a little gift of some sort before giving the card - I just haven't decided on what it will be yet!!
