I can't believe that today is the last day of 2008!!! This year has just flown by - and I'm glad b/c I'm looking forward to 2009 and what it will bring. 2008 has been a strange year for me - filled with good things (moving into a house that we LOVE, releasing my own stamp line, Veronica starting Kindergarten etc etc) and bad (the death of my grandma, my dad's motorcycle accident (which he HAS recovered quite well from thank goodness!), and several other things I can't mention on here) - so I am REALLY looking forward to moving on from 2008 and into 2009!
We don't have any special plans to ring in the New Year - how about you guys?
Anywho - I participated in this week's All That Scraps DT challenge - which was to use snowflakes on a card but NO Christmas paper. I found it too easy - I got all the Marvy Snowflake punches like 2 weeks before Christmas and I've barely got the chance to use them so I'll take any excuse!
Here's what I made:
I love the Winter Bear set - he is just too cute and the snowman is adorable! I stamped them onto white cardstock and colored them in with my Copics (pic of all the ones I used here on the left!). I then used one of my circle nestabilities die to cut out the main image.
The patterned paper is by DoodleBug (LOVE this paper - actually it's more of a cardstock weight - all the hearts are sparkly!), after adhering it and the main circle image I attached the mittens from the set that I colored and cut out. I just pierced a hole in each mitten then strung through some embroidery thread and attached them to the card with a blue brad.
To make the snowflakes I did the same thing as I did on yesterdays card (in reality I had made this card first and created these snowflakes then HAD to make more when I made the bella card lol).
Once they were dry I attached them to the card with this DoodleBug velvet heart brad - it was the perfect thing as it's fuzzy texture really compliments the sharp contrast of the glass glitter.
And again I finished off the inside of the card - something I've started doing with pretty much every card I make now. My mom (who's not a cardmaker) pointed out to me a few months ago how much nicer my cards were when the insides were "finished" as well - even if all I did was adhere a strip of matching patterned paper to the inside. I like it as well - I go to so much work to finish the front of a card and it can be rather jarring to open it up and find NOTHING there! So from now on I try and finish the inside of the card as often as possible.
For this card I adhered white cardstock with a strip of the DoodleBug heart paper, and then stamped, colored and cut out the little snowman from the Winter Bear set and adhered him in place and that was it!

Have a Happy New Year everyone! :)
